  1. On the Jade in the Med now and the average age is all over.  My 2 kids under 15 are on, along with a couple and their kids under 12.  I've seen a small number of other children, maybe a couple dozen, but nothing like the Caribbean.  As another poster said, he's seen 20s-70s and that's very accurate here.  Lots of younger adults if that's what you're looking for.

We just booked (well rebooked using our money from the last cruise that got cancelled which was a rebook of a cruise from last March) to Canada for end of August 2022 on the Breakaway.   What does everyone think the odds are that this cruise finally sails.  And if it sails, what precautions will be needed for passengers (masks, vaccinations, etc.)    To be honest, I booked for late 2022 hoping that by then we could not only TAKE a cruise but that it will be at least kind of close to cruising as before (no masks, etc.)  The silver lining is that when cruises finally DO resume, I think the chances of getting something like a neurovirus will be very slim because of all the precautions these lines have taken for this virus.

So what do you all think?  Will we be cruising like it's 2019?

Aug 28th from NYC?  If so, 👋 .. we will be on that sailing!  Let's hope it will indeed sale as planned.  Been having the cruising itch since our Alaska cruise a couple of years ago.

  3. My TA agency does absolutely nothing and I’m fine with that. I consistently book with them for the OBC. On our 2022 cruise, we’re getting about 18% of our cruise fare (before taxes and port fees) back in OBC. In fact, everyone should aim for around 10% on every cruise.

I always do my own research and plan all excursions and barely ever talk to anyone  at the agency.

  4. Just got back yesterday on a Kenai Fjords tour with Major Marine. It was a 6 hour tour and they said the seas were "rougher than normal." With that said, once we entered the bay, a whole lot of people starting puking all over and a lot more went out back to get air. It was pretty bad. I don't know what will be available when you arrive but if you get motion sickness easily, I would ask about the sea conditions before booking.

  5. It's the exact same dishes offered in the Indian section of the regular buffet.

This is completely false. The buffet upstairs probably has 3-4 indian dishes in their little section. In the lunch buffet in Moderno, it is a FULL buffet with at least 10+ dishes and a lot of appetizers and dessert.

The Moderno buffet is not just an overflow with scraps, to get people away from the Garden Cafe. It is a full themed, full service buffet in a really nice location with plenty of seating, even for large groups. I've seen tables with 10+ people sitting together as a family -- something that is impossible in the Garden Cafe.

  6. Yes, on the Getaway, they set up special themed lunch buffets in the area between Moderno and Cagney's. We unfortunately found this out late in the cruise which was a shame because it was REALLY good. We made it to an indian themed one and it was unlike any other of the dishes up in the buffet. I suggest seeking out these lunches on sea days. You will usually see NCL wait staff hold signs up with the theme of the day on a few decks.

  7. I booked through them for our upcoming cruise and had no issues. Also booked the sledding and extra landing and they were cheaper than the actual vendor (the main reason why I booked through them).

  8. The basic app works on Android, but not the calling or texting feature. This is from the description straight from Google Play.

*The Phone calling features are available on iPhone only. However, the Messenger feature is available on both iPhone and iPad.

Sorry, I was referencing the texting only which I successfully used on the Breakaway last summer. Can't comment on the device to device calls or device to home calls but I'm guessing Google Play is correct.

  9. really?? there is an android version....
The app works for both android and iOS and texting between both devices work fine as long as you pay for each device. You can pay for as many devices as you want. The device charge is separate from the wifi charges. If you buy wifi, you still can't text through the app.

  10. How long did it take you to use the bus/Metro option to get to the airport? I'm figuring the bus probably has lots of stops along the way to the Metro. Are there lots of stops once you are on the Metro before getting to the airport?

I'd say about an hour. We did this last year. Took the bus to the metro which stopped at central station, then switched trains to go to the airport.

  11. The food itself can be very kid friendly. Why not pay for them and have them actually experience the restaurant? As long as they are watching the chef cook, wouldn't it be better if he is cooking their food?

DW and I both have SDP so we used our meals here. Yes, we go to Benihana some times so I know what the food is like -- the kids just like the kids menu and there's no point paying any extra for them to eat steak/shrimp/chicken/etc when they are satisfied with the burger/mac-n-cheese.

  12. Shouldn't that be off the Children's Menu -- not the MDR menu

Yes, probably meant kids menu from mdr. Kids can order from kids menu at any specialty restaurant but may take a bit longer to arrive if you are far from the main galley .
