  1. You did a good move! There will be 4 ships in port the day you are in Roatan and Tabyana Beach is going to be very crowded!

Our first time on Tabyana Beach was so nice (Epic Aug 2010) and when we went back there March 2013 it was awful - because we had to share it with another ship and it was so crowded, plus it was during the period of seaweed migration and invasion to the Western Caribbean. We wished at the time that we had gone to Maya Key instead.

We just booked Maya Key as well.. there will be 5 ships in port when we sail in Feb

Norwegian Dawn, Norwegian Jade, Liberty Of The Seas, Carnival Glory, Caribbean Princess

  2. I've been in a mini-suite on the Breakaway which is similar. As others have said, there is a pull down bed from the ceiling and the sofa also converts to a bed. In this pic, the sofa has not been fully extended but you can see the pull down bed:

  3. I'm traveling with a 4 and 6 yr old and a private island like GSC was exactly what we're looking for at Harvest Caye. I'm already doing excursions in Roatan and Cozumel.. is there enough to do inside the "gate" at belize city or is it just full of overpriced cruise line junk? Should I be looking at another excursion to do in case we don't make Harvest Caye?

  4. There's still no 1 way rental from IAH to the port right? We're landing in IAH the day before and renting a car to visit family. I'll most likely have to drop the car back at IAH and then take a cab to the port. It would have been great to get a 1 way but Enterprise was close to $200 I think.

I think I'll be doing the Maya Key AI through NCL at Roatan and booking a private tour of Cozumel via a tour site. Thanks for the info!

  5. IMO I would not count on it. We were there at 615 for tickets beginning to be passed out at 7am. We were in a group that didn't get called until around 11am. We still had a great time on beach, but day didn't start off ideal. After the tenders started on time things went downhill when the boat had to reposition, wait for RCI boat to dock, and had a staff drill which I'm sure delayed things.

Again, we had a great cruise. I just want people to know the tendering in Roatan was a mess. I had to cancel a charter which I felt very bad about.

I was thinking of doing the Maya Key excursion.. not sure how much island time we'll have now :(

  6. What's the driver doing when you guys are eating lunch? Are we expected to buy for him too? We're taking a tour with one of the company that is mentioned here in a few months and just want to know what to expect

  7. The trick is to pay too much for your original cabin. :p

This is the right answer. On the Breakaway few years ago, we paid $799 for a balcony room and a month before sailing, they dropped to $699 while family mini-suites were $749. I had the TA call NCL and we got an upgrade to the mini-suite. I didn't complain since I booked with KSF promotion and that got transferred over as well.

  8. We ran into the same issue. Our first cruise was last February with RCI, then we booked with NCL for our 2nd cruise through Norway in June and got UDP and 375.00 obc and a 100$ amazon GC from our TA. Now for our 3rd cruise in January (3rd in less than 12 months) we are booked in the Haven.

Wow, what TA do you have to offer such generous credits?
