  1. Good morning!

Sorry if this has been asked/answered in the past....when I arrive in Vancouver after my cruise on 9-15-15, I've decided to spend the day, and take the 5:30 p.m. Amtrak Cascades to Seattle. Does anyone know if they would let me store my luggage for the day at the Pacific Central Station-do they have lockers, or a place to store to store it? If not, other options?

    Thanks in advance.

  2. Don't count on catching the 9AM. The first disembarkation is usually at 7:45. Depending on how many ships , customs and immigration could be a zoo.Personally I wouldn't stress to catch the 9AM train.

Why not use Quick Shuttle to Seattle . They leave at 9AM from the cruise port .

Thanks, Kamloops and XLXo-I'll check them out-it would be very less stressful using them.

  3. Yes, it is the Carnival Legend that leaves on May 16th. It leaves from Vancouver and finishes in Seattle. 8 day Glacier Bay.

I repeated the info back to her because I thought it sounded crazy. She said the Carnival website was not even giving the option for payment because it was flagged for this Jones Act.

I am glad this is not the case because if it was, well, yikes.

As many others have already said, your PVP doesn't know what she is talking about. I am taking the Legend out of Seattle on 9-8-15, and it returns to Vancouver on 9-15-15. (I'd get a new PVP!:D)

  4. I'm on the same one! I believe it's be as that is the last Alaskan sailing of the season. The legend sails from Vancouver over to Hawaii.

Yep, Will see you on board! I started my 1st cruise, which was to Alaska in '07 in the spring, so will now go on Spirit's sister ship Legend in the fall! Hoping for some decent weather, but with Alaska, you just never know!;)

  5. Good morning, and Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers!:)

My question is: Carnival is scheduled to arrive in port at 7 a.m. (on a Tuesday), would I have enough time to catch the bus/train to Seattle at 9 a.m., if I did self disembark, took a cab, and have a reservation? or would it be cutting it too close, due to the customs process? Thanks in advance:)

  6. When considering Alaska cruises, it's important to note that all cruises departing from Seattle are round trips (Seattle - Seattle) owing to federal maritime law, while cruises departing from Vancouver BC can be either round trips or one-way cruises (to/from Whittier or Seward, Alaska). Sailings out of Vancouver generally offer more scenery, as they travel to the east of Vancouver Island on sheltered waters, whereas the Seattle boats travel on open ocean to the west of Vancouver Island.

Last week I booked a Carnival cruise to Alaska-it sails out of Seattle, and arrives back in Vancouver. (Can't wait till Sept 8th!)

  7. Pack and Play come back soon Please

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I looked under my VIFP specials on Friday, and there was a pack and play, which expires on April 13, though it just appeared, as I check it daily. It was supposed to be 2-4 day cruises out of L.A. When I looked for May and June, I saw some 7 day ones listed-they were for Alaska on the Legend. I kept searching and was able to book one out of Seattle on Sept 8th. Sailing solo I had to pay $100 , (but I would get that back as OBC), and an additional $171.00 for taxes/port charges.I paid the $100 deposit, have a confirmed booking, and a 4A cabin on the Verandah deck.

So, I don't know, if these promotions are random, or how they work-I'm glad I looked; so, keep looking-you may have one out there!

I don't know if you would know, or if someone else would know, would I be eligible for the drinks on us card, as I totaled over 5000 points on my last cruise in Feb.?

Thanks-and keep those offers coming for everyone!

  9. I noticed I had one of those offers, as well. I was thinking of calling my PVP to see if he would know what the amount of casino cash is. I think the amount may be different for different people, based on their level of play. In a few weeks, they'll send out a card in the mail with the different cruises, and the amount shows on it; but, these cruises book up fast, so if you see one now you're interested in, book it, because it may be gone, or the price could have gone up by the time one receives the card in the mail....Happing cruising!

It also stated it was up to 45% off Fun Select fares, and $300 cash per person, or up to $600 per room.

Not a bad deal-even if I have to pay the single supplement, if I travel solo....

  11. Are there better and cheaper ways to get to the pier than Carnivals overpriced transfers? Looking to book the Miracle for Feb 28th to Mexico, last cruise before drydock. Wonder what kind of service we'll get right before drydock?

I'll be on Miracle's sailing on Feb 7th, and am looking into transportation, as well. I just checked and for 1 person Super Shuttle is $17.00 each way, which is cheaper than Carnival's at $22.00 per person each way, the last time I checked. Enjoy your cruise!

  12. I only play slots.........and certainly on very RARE occasions I have had the bar waiters be very attentive.......though usually really late at night.......but for the most part it's taking 20 to 30+ minutes to get a drink.......that's unacceptable in my book.........I cash tip well.....

ditto! ditto! I totally agree with you; at least on my last cruise-a premier casino cruise-and the casinos were packed-took a long time to get a drink-even a ginger ale....

  13. I agree with what a couple of the posters mentioned-especially checking the fares on Tuesdays, as well well as checking the fares out of Hobby-South West Airlines flies out of Hobby, so one would have to check their website directly-their sales usually start on Tuesdays, and run through Thursdays-not that I'm an ambassador for SWA;), but I also look for good deals-and with them, you don't have to pay luggage fees!:D Happy cruising!

  14. I always try to get to know our room steward a little bit, as well as wait staff and bartenders. One thing I have noticed and really really wonder about: There have been several staff members tell me that they have left their children and pregnant wife at home while they are making money to support the family. Hmm, I totally believed this the first 2 times I heard it. Then I started wondering. Does anyone else think that some of them give you a story they think will make them more tips? I'm really not a negative or skeptical person. I just picked up on this and it seemed quite strange to me.

I believe they are being truthful, when they share these stories with you-as bad as the income may be on the ship, it's still much better than the money they'd earn in many of the countries they would come from-(this is just my opinion)

  15. Pepto Bismol, and/or Lomotil; I was on the Magic last week, and the 3rd day (Wed) into the cruise, I got some kind of g.i. bug-belly aches, diarreha (it was NOT food poisioning, or Norovirus, so these can be ruled out);I spent nearly the rest of the cruise in my cabin; I ran out of Peptol Bismol tablets I had brought with me-they did not sell either of these in the gift shop, and the medical clinic on the ship wouldn't sell the lomotil, unless you had a consult with the doctor, at which point you would probably be put into isolation (which for the most part, this is what I was already doing, as I wasn't eating, or feeling well enough to attend any of the ship activities); this same nurse/clerk? suggested that I "go into town" (by this time it was Fri., and we we were in Cozumel)and buy the lomotil there;so, that was the only "shore excursion" I had. Sorry, for rambling so much:o....From what I saw, The Magic is a beautiful ship.......

  16. All of you would have to switch your room. Y'all would still all be in a room together, but they would have to give you a room with another bed, so you could sleep everyone.

    Brett Bennett

The OP didn't say what type of cabin was booked;it's possible they'd need to move, but not necessarily-they could already have a cabin with a sofa/bed for example.

To the OP-there would not be a penalty for adding another person to the booking-you would be charged for the 3rd guest, which is usually much less than the 1st 2 guests.....hope it all works out for you.

  17. Wish I would have asked this question before I booked flight into IAH. Transportation costs are all much higher from IAH to Galveston. Definitely go into HOU unless it is several hundred dollars cheaper, because the shuttles are more expensive, and "on airport" car rental fees are astronomical thru IAH.

Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app

This Sunday I fly into Houston (IAH), and I booked my transportation through Carnival to get me to Galveston and back-I think it was $90 RT, may have been $10 cheaper for the shuttle service out of Hobby. May have been cheaper if I rented a car-don't know-traveling solo, so I didn't want the hassle....yes, it does seem expensive getting from Houston to Galveston. Bought and paid for, so I'm a happy cruiser!
