  1. Hey. Have just disembarked this cruise and have terrible stomach bug now. As there was a known outbreak onboard, does anyone know what the official diagnosis was so I can get the correct medicine here in South Africa?

was it norovirus or some other GI infection?

    thanks in advance.

  2. Can I just double check - we don't need to checkin online for Azamara Pursuit cruise?  We just show up at the pier?

After multiple cruises with other lines, this just seems weird 🙂

Anything else we need to know?  Leaving for Cape Town soon, cruise starts on 3rd January.

  3. Hi there.

We are arriving into Ciampino Airport fairly late, so had decided to get a hotel nearby and then shared/private shuttle to Civitavecchia in the morning.

Unfortunately, all the nearby hotels look a bit sad/dated (Ibis Styles Vintage is best of bunch, but it's a bit hmmm).  Has anyone got any recommendations or advice?  Not keen to go into Rome as it will be a bit of a waste just for sleeping (and we've been numerous times).  Trying to keep taxi costs to a minimum, as I know Rome cabbies have a bit of a reputation for overcharging.

Are there any decent hotels with a shuttle bus service from Ciampino Airport (not Fiumicino)?  I've been looking and haven't found any yet!

If you're wanting to do the Med, try Barcelona ... so much easier !

Totally agree, although the itinerary's are a bit repetitive!  Flights and transfers easy peasy, but have been visiting the same ports of call for more than 10 years now.

  5. This sounds a bit too much hassle unfortunately.  I can't get direct flights to Bologna, and don't fancy a 3.5 hour bus journey from Venice.

Pisa and Florence are actually closer than Venice, but the transfers would be a nightmare.

Oh well, it looked possible, but it's not going to work for us I don't think....

    Back to the drawing board!

  6. Looking at a few cruises for May/June, but wondering about the logistics of transport from airport (Venice, Bologna or somewhere else).

Are RCL putting on some sort of shuttle service?  Obviously I realise they will charge for this, but difficult to find out info prior to actually making a booking.

    Anyone got any intel?

    Thank you 🙂

  7. Thank you. We are diamond so get 4 free drinks per day anyway. We do normally buy the package, but used to be approx $55 per day, but seems like it will be nearer to $80pp per day.  Just gonna leave it and pay for drinks as we go. It’s a port intensive cruise anyway, so will be off the ship a lot. I don’t think we will spend $160 per day every day on booze. My other half is a beer drinker, and if I remember correctly, they are only about $10 a bottle.

  8. Just a wee update - called back another two times, first time denied because we are not married.  Second time, it all went fine and now have a C&A number.  Have been told it will take 48 hours for Diamond status to show.

So, thank you all!  It seems to be do-able 🙂

2 weeks ago on odyssey, we stopped by loyalty desk and he instantly matched our Diamond status to my daughter who was gold.  No questions asked.  Maybe try that route

I will call again, and if I don’t get a resolution will just wait til onboard.

    thanks all!

Have you tried calling again? I really hate how it takes multiple phone calls to things straight.

Unfortunately not had a chance to call back. Had another holiday booked this weekend so didn’t have any spare time. Will call next week when I return.

Go to the Crown and Anchor website. Click on something (such as make an inquiry). A pop up sign in screen should appear. Click on create an account. See if that works for you.

Yes that allowed me to make a Royal Caribbean account, so now registered for the app etc.  But did not get a C&A number unfortunately.

Just call back and talk to someone else. This is SO not true. They can give a C&A number before sailing, as long as there's a booking.

I just double checked - her boyfriend's Set Sail Pass definitely lists him as D+ and he has never sailed before. It was confusing because the first time she called, they set him up with a C&A number, and it wasn't until a couple calls later that they finally set him up with matching status.

Will try calling again.  Hopefully I will get someone who will provide a C&A number pre cruise.

I have never bothered calling to set up C&A for my wife. Just applied for a number via the web-site and linked her.

I have tried to find a way of doing this (without success).  Everything seems to point to having taken at least one cruise.

  15. Thank you for all the replies.  Have called Crown and Anchor, and they are saying "significant other" needs to have at least 1 cruise point.  As they have never cruised before, this will not be possible.

I'm not even sure if it's possible to sign up for C&A until after your first cruise.

Any suggestions on a work around, or is that it?  Obviously still have the option of asking the C&A concierge whilst onboard, but would prefer for it to be settled prior to boarding.

    Thanks again!
