My comment re: the January 8, 2022 Marina cruise being at 100% capacity, was confirmed twice by Oceania representatives when I called.
I was surprised as much as a few of the readers on this thread, however, this is the information relayed to me via Oceania. Could the information be incorrect? Anything is possible. I am merely conveying my experience from my 2 phone conversations.
At this point in time, I more concerned whether or not this cruise takes place at all, either at partial or full capacity.

When I called Oceania to book the Privee, I asked about the ship's sailing capacity. I was told at that time, about 2 month ago, it would be 100% filled! I was quite surprised.
Then, I called another time, regarding another matter and asked this question again and was given the same answer.....go figure.

We are booked on Marina January 8, 2022 and I was told when I asked this question, it will be at full, 100% capacity.

The deer are lovely to watch Terry, but unfortunately we keep attracting a herd that continues crossing through our property over the past several years that has cost us hundreds, perhaps a couple thousand in landscaping. Think I'll stick to vet bills any day with our indoor cat!
Oh, forgot about the one last year that had to meet me up close and personal at the bottom of the driveway....broken headlight, dented front fender...he ran away, just fine, I headed off to the body shop with my credit card!

Ahh!

Or you could have read it in this thread, last TUE!, in post #16. Thanks for the info.
Thanks pointing out my omission, however, repeating important information can't hurt.

Amazing....our refund arrived today! Only 17 days after being notified! I am in shock, but realize this due to all the the past efforts of those who fought so hard to make their refunds a reality. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Just read this on NCL thread....

Thanks Paul!
Appreciated the encouragement too.

Success! Allianz will be refunding the full amount of the policy. Now that was one phone call worth staying on hold!

Thanks everyone. This is definitely worth pursuing!
Appreciate your comments.

I was given a choice of refund or credit for future trips.
I chose a refund and got it eventually.
That's fabulous Paul!
We had 5 trips cancelled last year all with insurance totally over $5,000.
Only choice given was to use it for future travels within 2 years of the purchase date, which is impossible considering the world today. I basically wrote this off as an expense to being fortunate for staying healthy. Now, I'm thinking I should contact these companies again and try for a refund! I was working with Allianz and Jefferson. Any chance you had the good fortune of dealing with them?
Curious to know and appreciate your input...

Congrats Host Jazzbeau on getting your check!!!
Just informed today by my TA that Ponant has cancelled my July cruise from Manila to Darwin. Surprisingly, I was offered a choice of either FCC or a refund, but was told the refund will not arrive for several months!
Despite the timing of the payment, I selected the refund. Now I get to wait and see how annoying this reimbursement process will actually be. I was completely shocked Ponant even offered a refund!
Can't help but wonder if your efforts have shaken up the organization and they are now offering refunds, which wasn't occurring before. If that is the case....TY!

Just received word from our TA, the July 7-20, 2021cruise from Manila to Darwin on Le Laperouse has been cancelled.
Ponant has offered a future cruise credit plus 20% or a full refund of the deposit paid; however, noting it would take several months for us to receive it!
We opted to get our money back....now the fun begins!

My thoughts are very different than the previous posts.
As far as lengthy cruises, one thing to consider is if you stay on the same ship, remember the food will remain the same. The longest cruise I have taken was 32 days on Oceania and I was ready to disembark. The food is wonderful, don't get me wrong, however the menu doesn't change very much. After two-three weeks it becomes a bit predictable, even though you have other options on port days. Should you decide to take two cruises, I would certainly book with two different cruises companies just to get variety.
The Normandy region of France is fabulous and I would strongly recommend doing it on your own as a land tour. It is very easy to organize yourself or through a TA.
Have fun planning and ultimately making some wonderful decisions!

Greetings Host JazzBeau:
Great news to hear you will get a refund without a fight! That is never a pleasant experience. Was your TA able to forward any documentation to confirm this for you? I am absolutely floored how Ponant has handled these reimbursements to its customers.
I have been following this thread as I feel I may be in your this situation a few months from now. Have a cruise booked early July from Manila to Darwin. I think it's highly unlikely the Phillipines and Australia will not be welcoming US citizens by then!
All the best in getting your $$$ back!

Some of this information re: Australian ports for year end 2020 is especially disconcerting. I was selfishly looking ahead for news related to a 2021 Ponant cruise in Australia, but I am completely shocked to think this company believes they can bring their clients in and out of this country for their cruises, 2-3 months from now.
The US State Dept. has declared Australia at a Level 3: "reconsider travel". Travel between provinces is limited and if allowed, is enforced by 14 day quarantines which applies to foreign travelers as well and at your expense.
Being an optimistic, conditions may improve in the next 60 days... currently United and Delta is flying to Australia from LA and SF. Sadly, Qantas stated it will not be back up in the air to the US until July 2021 at the earliest.
This will be my first cruise with Ponant, so far I'm not being impressed.

Thanks everyone for your comments. Tried booking online without success.
Looks like a call to O is in order as pinotlover suggested.....

I will be sailing on Marina January 2022. Can I book Privee now or do I need to wait until dining reservations are open for booking after final payment? Also, is it still $250 for the room or $250 per couple? I have read conflicting comments on CC....

Which cruise line cancelled? We are booked on Oceania for Jan 8/22 and beginning to have our doubts. Have heard nothing, but that is no surprise....
