  1. I finally decided and went with the FZ200. After reading this site over and over I changed my mind from an DSLR.

I have downloaded Graham Houghton information.

Any tips for a new person using this camera? It's a little overwhelming.

Thanks for any tips you can offer.

  2. We just came off the last cruise and the port lect was excellent in my opinion. I have seen John but felt she was more accurate and detailed in her info. Plus she did not tell you to buy her DVD to see how to do the ports on your own she included the info in her talks. I think she is on the entire Baltic season. She also gave lots of printed info and made it very simple to follow. The lectures I saw on TV were not live and I did not find fault with any of them. I just wish she had more live talks. If you want her info sheets let me know where I can email them to.

I would love to have her information sheets my email is bettyhbank @aol. Com

We are going to the Baltic in August.

    Thanks

  3. This is a good site. Also, this

    http://shop.panasonic.com/shop/model/DMC-FZ200K?sc_mc=sem_google_cov_camera-brand_model_03192014_imaging

which is the Panasonic site was the 2nd hit when I typed "FZ200" into Google.

Also try typing "FZ200 review" into Google.

With all respect to CC which is wonderful for cruise information, there are many sites out there that are much better for camera purchase info.

  4. We would like to go to Hollen for the boat ride. I see we need to take a bus first where do we get the bus is it close by the pier and what number is the bus we need to take? How long is the bus ride to Hollen? Want to be sure we have time to do this don't want to miss the ship!

We are in port 8:00am to 5:00pm on a Thursday. We will be on the Royal Princess cruise ship.

Thanks for any information you can give us.

  5. Going to Samys tomorrow they have the Panasonic FZ200 on sale with no sales tax this weekend for $448.00

So one last question will this camera take good pictures indoors? And what about cloudy days? We are doing a Baltic cruise so we may have cloudy days. We are going to Russia St Petersburg so I will want a good indoor camera also.

I am on over load with camers information and I am sure these question have been answer already.

Started wanting a DSLR and with everyone's great information will look at FZ200.

Thanks to everyone for all your information.

  6. I was in there store in Seal Beach Ca. today everything is 40% off this weekend. And if you have a gift card you must use it by May 7 2014 that's the day they said the big sale starts and no more gift cards can be used after that date.

So sad to see them go.

  7. That's the thing, though - I like to see who is being quoted, plus with the actual quote function you can click on the little arrow within the quote box and go to the entire original quote. Thank you for the explanation - it is appreciated, but for me it is very frustrating seeing a quote but not seeing who quoted it. That's just how I roll. :D

EDITED to add: OP rene194215, it is not a stupid question at all. That's how we learn fun new things. I thought that earlier but forgot to tell you. :)

    .

They used to allow multiple multiple quotes. :D I think we could quote at least 6 at one time; now it is down to 2. To quote more than two posts, you have to either open a duplicate browser and copy and paste, or you can post your reply and then quickly hit "Edit" on your own post to add more comments (using copy and paste). I love when people quote multiple times, like 6 or 7 in one post. I know how much work they went to and it looks totally cool. :)

    I think I got it!

  8. A big thanks to everyone for all the information you have given us. I have looked at different site that have been recommended. I think maybe the Super Zoom camera may be the way to go. What one would be the best to buy? I will go to the camera store by us and check out some of the camera that have been recommended.

Really the only time I take pictures in when we are on a cruise so I need something easy for me to use.

    Again thanks!!!

  9. Airheadfan,

Great advice. I say 'great advice' only because it's the only advice I would be able to offer myself even though the advice isn't an entry level DSLR. Our kits are also the same ;) I can't imagine buying any DSLR / lens combo that would compare to a Canon Super Zoom and a SuperZoom also avoids the need to $pend for additional lenses.

PaulMedik....what Canon Super Zoom do you have?

    Thanks

  10. Why do you think you need a DSLR? If you are budget conscious, you may want to reconsider. What are you using now?

Check out this alternative just announced today

    http://shop.panasonic.com/shop/model/DMC-LZ40K?sc_ec=epp-club_audio_new-audio-imaging-products_pcec_1522890_03242014

I looked at this camera I like it very much. And great price. Maybe I need to look at the super zoom camera. Would be easy to use.

The other camera that has been talked about on here is the Panasonic FZ200 B&H has that one for $389.95. Between the two what one is the better camera?

I have now a Sony DSC-HX1 it was $499.00 and I have had it about 4 years. Has a 20 zoom. It still is a good camera but with all the new technology it's out dated and want something new.

Thanks everyone for all you information.

  11. Would like to get a DSLR for a beginner. I have looked at Nikon 3200 it comes with an extra lens 55-200 for $599.00 want to keep the price under $600.00

About the only time I take pictures is when we are cruising we have a Baltic cruise this year with a week in Berlin before.

Need something very easy to use. So what would you recommend I am open to any suggestion.

Thanks for any information you can me.

  12. Yes. The measurement is from whatever sticks up top to the floor. So, if you have a handle that isn't flush with your bag when in the down position, you've got to add that. The handle is another thing that does the "gotcha" on your ability to carry vs check...

Sidergirl... Thanks so much for this information.

  13. If it were me, I'd book a cabin under the SeaView Bar. A little more privacy just in case there are any looky-loos, not that it seemed to be so much a problem that I've read for those under SeaWalk.

I'd also probably take into consideration the substantial overhang created by the flooring of the SeaView Bar, and whether that is a 'plus' or 'minus' for you. Maybe you prefer not to be directly under it and in a cabin a few decks down so that the sunshine actually hits you balcony.

    :D

We are in cabin A429 are we under the Seawalk or Seaview bar? And will the overhang cover the balcony?

Thanks for any information you can give us.

  14. Sounds like you are the perfect candidate for EarPlanes. They help to alleviate that pressure. I think I read they were designed for Astronauts. So, will definitely help in an airplane.

I buy them at Walmart and they are a must for me on any airplane ride. Hope you have success with them. I certainly have.

Thanks, so much for the information. I will try this on our next flight.

  15. We are on the Star Princess 30 day Cruise Rio To SF. First we have a seven day land trip to Machu Pichu four days then to Iguazu Falls for three days.

Help! do I get the Yellow Fever shot or the waiver? At this point I and so confused. When I called the Travel Dr back in the Summer I was told anyone over Sixty should not get the shot. I called yesterday and was told we shoud get the YF shot.

I have read all the threads for immunization CDC and Princess says it is not a required.

Thanks for any information you can give us.

    Betty:)
