  1. Is there only one shop open in the Tortola port?  We are. Headed there next week and was curious if any shops right at the port.  Please let me know your thoughts.

    Thank you.

  2. Can anyone give a review on the captain Morgan tour as of recent times and how far is it from the cruise port. Slain what type of transportation is available to get you there fjr a reasonable cost? Thank you in advance.

Tigers2425-Where is the dock you refer to that is used to refurbish/drydock ships? I have not seen any reports on a dock used for that purpose but knowing the location of this dock would help.

It's in the Bahamas but I'm not certain what part.  It's called "Grand Bahama Ship yard" I believe it's where RC does all of their dry docks?  I could be mistaken though.

Has someone used a ride share service from Port of Miami to Miami Airport? If so, what was the cost? I have heard of major surge prices when passengers disembark after a cruise. We are getting off Navigator on a Friday and wondered what is a realistic price for Uber/Lyft. Thanks in advance.

We used QLS and it worked perfect.  You must book in advance but can do it online

Anyone have any idea what the cost for a taxi would be there and back? It looks to be fairly close to the port.

I may email and get clarification on the package. Are the only drinks water and rum punch? I don't drink hard liquor during the day out in the hot sun. It's a bad combo for me. 😉 I'd prefer Wadadli beer.

We visited there two years ago.  I don't recall the taxi fare but I do remember they wouldn't take ANY torn or worn currency.  We had an issue paying the cab because we had minimal cash and they did not take credit card.  Said our money was worn and their govt. would not take it.  It's a lovely place.  Small and quaint.  We really enjoyed it.

  6. IUKI--We have purchased two alexandrite rings while on cruises.  One in Jamaica and one in St. Kitts.  I love, love them both.  You are right, we could not find this stone at any of the jewelers where we live in Ohio.  I just lost a small diamond from the one we purchased in St. Kitts and was looking to see how I might get this taken care of.  We are set to cruise again in a couple of weeks but not to St. Kitts or Jamaica so I cannot take the right to them myself.  I will also be letting RC know of this issue to see how they suggest we handle. Please let me know if you get any answers from them on your issue.  I will keep you updated on my issue if you would like.  I hope you enjoy your alexandrite as much as I do.  They are beautiful and one of my birthstones for being a June baby (alexandrite, pearl and moonstone).

  7. Pleaseeeee check out MyIslands Tour with Herod! We just did this a few weeks ago and it is a GREAT value and he bring one of his pet monkeys along with him for the day!

If you have any questions after looking into it, let me know!:)

  8. Through Shore Excursioneer (where we booked) it is $115 per person. High for an "independent" excursion, but similar to other things offered by the cruise lines (NCL doesn't offer this trip direct). We have it booked for the end of March. I'll report back. Hoping others will try it before then and also report!

Have fun! Look forward to hearing about your experience.

  9. If it is a ship sponsored/ ship purchased excursion you are good. That's why they list/sell them, timeframe is doable.

Now if you purchase independently cruise-lines have no responsibilities.

Thank you for your thoughts. It is NOT ship sponsored which is why I asked.

Anyone have any insight or have done this given our ships timeline?

  10. I am cruising with the RCI Navigator of the Seas in January. We are in Curacao until 8:00 PM. I would assume that the “all aboard“ time is no later than 7:30 PM.

I am interested in booking a “sunset cruise“ through a third party that departs from the east coast of Willemstad at 4:30 PM, with a duration of two hours. That should put me back on land at 6:30 PM, with an hour or less to get back to the ship. I’m not familiar with Curacao or traffic conditions there. According to Google maps, it should only be a 15 minute drive. I have no idea what traffic conditions might be, or if there might be issues with the bridge.

Any insight from past cruisers? Is this cutting it too close?

We will be there in June and are docked from 8am-8pm and we were wondering the same thing. The one I am looking at leaves at 5pm and is approx 2 hrs. Wonder if this is do-able?

Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you.

  11. Going to Beachlimerz in a couple weeks. Is it possible to walk over to Fort James to check it out from there? Thanks.

We just relaxed on this quiet stretch of beach while there earlier this year. Our taxi cab driver took us there on the way back to the ship. Wasn’t far. He pointed out things as he drove us through. I’d go back to Beach Limerz in a heartbeat!
