That's carnival. :D
Strange. In looking over your cruise history you don't seem to have any experience with Carnival so how would you know how they dress in the MDR? Or are you just incapable of independent thought?
I've been on both lines and haven't detected a difference in the way people are dressed in the MDR but have to confess I haven't seen too many tuxs on Carnival. But for the most part the dress is the same.

Why do you keep saying this? Do you have any information?
Just based on previous comments made by this poster I think she is a Carnival employee or a TA specializing in Carnival products.

Outstanding and fair and balanced report! Thank you so much for the details and beautiful pictures. Based on your in-depth reporting I will be sure to include this cruise in my future.:D

I fail to see, based on the pictures, how either person is stupid / moron / any of the other names they were called.
The guy sitting on the edge - the ship is docked. The other guy is standing in the corner from what I see. How is that dangerous?
Obviously you're in one of the pictures! So, what you're saying is if you are sitting on your balcony in the highrise you live in if you fall you won't be hurt. After all, your building isn't underway.

Daddy's been gone for almost 19 years and I have silly and fun memories of him -- but more childhood ones and early adulthood... Howard's been gone for almost 9 years and I have great memories of our marriage and life together. But I love creating these memories with Nana... They are later in both of our lives and at a point where I have kind of become a Mommie to her... and we're having such FUN FUN FUN!!! Thank you!!!
What a great attitude to have! I dread the day when I start losing my loved ones and hope to have the same outlook as yours.

On a 15 night cruise to Hawaii and back from San Diego my wife and I had ATD and we asked for a table for two on the first night. We loved our wait staff and asked for the same table (and staff) for the rest of the nights and we only had to wait for about 20 minutes on one of the nights. Just enough time to enjoy a Gin and Tonic.

I checked the deck plans and there is a boat directly above you. Not a bad thing though unless you love the sun. Actually, if you go to cruisedeckplans dot com you'll find pictures of 2338. To see the pictures you'll have to pay to join (a couple of bucks?) but it is a very good site.

Celebrity does that itinerary because they are forced to by US law, nothing they can do about it.
Sure there is....just do a "service" call like the other lines do. Who wants to take a bus to Ensenada or worse, take a bus back to the US after the cruise?

You are way more macho than I am and your great attitude should be a lesson for the rest of us. Thanks for the great review and hope you are truly on the mend!

According to the Tribune they don't expect the cruise industry to pick up here until 2015 (I believe). I don't really get it. Cruising past Point Loma with the sunset sure beats leaving out of LA. Maybe San Diego demands more money to use their facilities. They have to figure out a way to pay for that new cruise terminal that sits empty most of the year.

Even if -as far as you can tell- no one is out there on the balcony, who's to say that they might not be right there in their cabin, curtains open, maybe just having gotten out of the shower or making bouncy-bouncy on the bed. And there's you craning your arm around the divider with your camera snapping pictures !???!!?
Sounds like an immediate call to security as far as I'm concerned --- and you;d deserve it too.
All to make some silly person on CC happy because she can't WAIT to see the balcony she's gonna be sitting her behind out on. (As if they all look so different anyway  ).
Not only tacky and stupid .. but an invasion of privacy AND borderline pervy too!
Whoa...settle down Bucky. I agree its a bit over the top but it certainly isn't worth a heart attack.

Personally I wouldn't expend the energy to decorate our door and in the past I thought it was a bit tacky. But, on our recent Spirit cruise our neighbors did their door (totally covered it with pictures and posters) and found myself looking at it and enjoying it. Some of the pictures cracked me up! I don't understand those who feel a need to vandalize someone else's door who obviously spent a lot of time working on it.

Love your review so far ... but asian tourists  are they different than other kinds of tourists or something?
As soon has I read her post I knew someone was going to jump on it! Not politically correct but, speaking for myself, I don't think she meant anything about it. Just kick back and enjoy her wonderful writing and beautiful pictures.

I love it when I run into reviews like this...well-written with lots of great pictures. Thanks!

They have special accomodations for the dearly departed. You can view it here.
Hey - if you die before the first non-US port of call, can your estate invoke the Vacation Guarantee? It would be a shame to lose those cruise days just because you die!
I think I'd rather have an inside cabin!

Carnival has been in the news lately and not in a good way. But, we must separate the "Corporate Giant" from the humans who actually work there.
My wife and I were on a 15 day cruise to Hawaii R/T from San Diego last April. On the third day our cabin phone rang. It was our son who was calling to let us know our loved Greyhound died in his sleep. Amid all of the tears and pain I asked him how he got hold of us. He told me he called Carnival Customer Service in Miami and they arranged to patch the call directly to the ship. They also told him because of the nature of the call he wouldn't be charged.
Midway through the call we were disconnected (sat phone issues). So, I called Customer Service onboard the ship and they immediately reconnected us...again without charge. I think between the two calls they lasted around 20 minutes.
Because of this Carnival has a special place in my heart and I have to believe a simple mistake was made by Royal and yes, they should be notified and possibly they'll take action to ensure it doesn't happen again.
