  1. We were in cabin 6454 and heard nothing at night from the lounges. We were usually in our rooms by 11:00. Have a great time! You will love that balcony!!

We were also in that cabin! LOVED IT! We heard a little 'muffled' music some nights but it was always quiet after midnight. Never had any noise issues. It was our first time in an aft balcony and we would book it again in a heartbeat. ENJOY your cruise! :)

  2. For those of you that have been keeping a watchful eye out all day and reading posts concerning the fire on the Liberty, I think most would agree that Pauleydm did a outstanding job reporting on the status of the situation throughout the day.

ABSOLUTELY! He kept us all informed with the available facts and no drama or hysterics or guessing games or what ifs. He did a great job!I hope someone takes note and recognizes his efforts.

A lot of people had family and friends on that cruise and were looking for information. IN MY OPINION, he did a better job of providing that 'calming' info much better than Carnival did. KUDOS to 'pauleydm'!

  3. [b[/b]

Thinking of making my 45th cruise my first Carnival cruise for my girl friend's birthday in December (12/6). They have a 6-night Key West, Cayman, Cozumel out of FLL (we live 40 minutes from the port) and I just got a GTY outside "senior" rate which totals out with taxes and fees at about $824 + gratuities + FTTF if I can get that. So figure a little over $1000 or $170 a night for two. Heck, a good hotel costs more than that, and you still have to pay for food.

Looks like Conquest has the 2.0 upgrades, though, frankly, I don't cruise for Guy's Burgers and such. Though I might just try my first water slide.

Hey, for a Celebrity / Cunard guy this could prove interesting!

What y'all think? Nice ship, good price? Certainly seems that way to me. I always wanted to see Joe Farcus at his best (worst?):D

We are booked on that cruise......really looking forward to it! We really like that 'class' of ship. Have been on Liberty several times and Freedom a couple times. We also got a great price......ocean view, casino rate, a little under $800, including taxes, for both of us for 6 nights..... we just have to figure in the gratuities and the insurance. Even found airfare at a decent price. Not too bad. We also don't care about the Guys Burger or water slides or things like that. Give us a nice place to relax and read and people-watch, a few good meals and a good piano bar with a good mix of people and we are all set.:) Enjoy your cruise!

  4. Sailing on Fascination Aug 6. Flying DCA to JAX nonstop on the 6th. Arrival 10:45 am. Carrying on only, no dealing with baggage claim. Getting to pier using Carnival's transfer service. In my head this is plenty of time but all the comments I read on here and on a Facebook Carnival page have me thinking otherwise.

So: if you have had SUCCESS flying in the day of the cruise, please comment here. I know the stories are out there!!Thanks!! :-)

We ALWAYS fly in the day of the cruise......our flight usually gets to the airport no later than 11AM (we always get he earliest flight from Detroit) and we have flown in to Tampa, Miami, Ft Lauderdale and Port Canaveral and NEVER had a problem. And just to make it a little MORE interesting, we always cruise in December and January so we have the extra fun of sweating the weather in Detroit and hoping and praying we will be able to get OUT of here! LOL But once we were out, we had no problems. We usually use the Carnival transfers to get to the ship, but have had no problems using other shuttle services. Hope this helps....:)

  5. Yes, he said in his July 21 blog post that someone should replenish their soda of choice in port. I also remember him saying that more soda can be brought on board in ports in a Facebook post in the last few weeks.
I saw that, too, and printed the page where he said it. (Don't know if it will do us any good ) We fly in the day of cruise so we can't stop to buy any cans of soda.....we like Pepsi products, not Coke......so when we stop at our first port we usually buy 3 or 4 cans of Pepsi and take it back on the ship for the remainder of the cruise. The original changes to the policy sounded like we could NOT bring back beverages in ports but on his Facebook page the other day he said we COULD. He should know, right? :)
  6. I had thought about a wreath and battery operated lights also. We'll be back in February and I have a pretty red tinsel wreath shaped in a heart.

There is a "decorate your doors" group out there with lots of pictures and ideas and rules (per Carnival) for decorating your door. For example, one of the rules is NO TAPE or anything that leaves a residue....and NO LIGHTS because they can confuse people in case of emergency. Lots of idea, pictures and handy tips from this group.

    Hope this helps. :)

  7. If there is wind there are waves. Low wind, calm seas, high winds high seas. I've been on ships where there were 18 foot waves and had no problem, sometimes other people get affected by 5 or 6 ft waves. Bring motion sickness meds or remedies, just in case.

As for a disturbance, isn't that the lowest title that is given to a rainstorm? Sure it can develop into something else; at the same time it can go away. Weather channels do sensationalize their reporting to keep viewers, so watch with caution.

At the worst, you will re-route. It's also a chance to dance in the rain.

    I like your attitude! :)

  8. We were on the first sailing. They have a parade followed by storytime by acory the CD. The brunch is on the last sea day. Food was yummy. They had green eggs and ham, fun pancakes that were red alternating with white that were alternating in size. They had cereal encrusted French toast, and the yogurt parfait and fruit were a lot of fun.

Thank you. My daughter and her family are sailing later this month. My grandson will love it.

  9. Thanks.....yes, we BOTH got the Casino offers that say you get casino cash AND a 'special' price on your cruise. We have had these before.....that is usually when we book. We have NEVER had anyone tell us that only the first name on the reservation got the casino cash.

I think I will call back when I have more time to hang on the phone or try an email.

    Thanks for your help. :)

  10. Hello, everyone.....I am NOT a newbie but never had this come up before and I am very confused and hope someone can help me out.

My sister and I booked a cruise for December on the Conquest. Just sitting around one day, checked MY special offers and found I had a Casino Offer. Called my sister, she checked HERS and she ALSO had a Casino Offer so I went to her house, we chose a cruise and I called Carnival and we booked it. So a week or two later, SHE gets a Casino Offer in the mail that says $40 Casino credit if you book by, blah, blah, and sail by blah, blah, which is what we DID. I have not received anything in the mail, so tonight I went to her house, we called Carnival and was told ONLY THE PERSON WHO IS THE FIRST NAME ON THE RESERVATION GETS THE CASINO CREDIT..../SIZE] REALLY? I explained that we have booked this way before, (both of us having a Casino Rate in our special offers) and usually we BOTH have something either in the mail or an email to take to the casino cage on the first night to get our credit. The lady insisted ONLY the first named person gets the casino cash.

Does anyone know if this is something new? By the end of the phone call, the lady said, "Well, you MIGHT get cash too, but probably not" and she switched me over to the Casino Dept. After being on hold for 25 minutes, I hung up and decided I would ask HERE and then maybe call my old Travel Agent. (Gee, I wish she hadn't changed jobs! She knew everything!)

So....can anyone help me out here? I have plenty of time before I cruise. Just trying to find out things while I DO have a lot of time and I am still excited about booking :)

We still have to find out how to use her credits from her Carnival MasterCard, but I have been on the phone with Carnival way too much between booking this cruise and now asking about the credit that I am almost ready to just say skip it and go ahead and give another cruise line a try. The phone people are very nice but very frustrating and NOT always well informed.

Thanks for any help or suggestions............

    Sue

  11. You're very welcome. I know what you mean about the extra room. I have been in 2470 4 times and my sister in 2473. Those rooms are AWESOME! It can be quite noisy back there, but I like it :) Glad my pics were a help to you.

I think it might be a little difficult to navigate 2 doorways as well especially since the cabin next to yours is so close. Might make for some interesting juggling if you are both trying to get in/out at the same time. Although, that may never actually happen.

Very true....and with MY luck we will always be coming and going at the same time! LOL

We have found that by taking OUR OWN DOORSTOP, it helps keep the door open to navigate it a little better when coming and going. But now with hand braces, too, everything is a little more difficult! Still, I do not like to book the handicap cabin because I don't need the special bathroom features and would hate to take them from someone who needs them. As long as I can get thru the doorway, I am fine with a regular cabin.

Oh well.....we still have time to make some changes. We have awhile till final payment.....

Thanks again! for your help :)

  12. Here are some pics of the entryway going to 2474 and 2472. It may be a little tight for maneuvering a walker but I'm not sure.

Thank you VERY MUCH for posting the pictures....especially the doorway. Yes, we may have to rethink this cabin and book another one. We have a lot of trouble getting a walker thru the doorways.....if I have to go thru TWO doorways I may give up and spend too much time in my cabin and I do NOT want to do that! LOL

We were in 2473 on the Freedom and we loved the extra space we had. We didn't mind the noise and vibration because it was usually only when going into and leaving ports so that didn't bother us. Its just the mobility issues and struggling with getting the walker in and out of the doorway that I was concerned with. The room doesn't look nearly as large as the one we had on the Freedom, but still looks a little more spacious than a regular Ocean View.

Oh well, it's another cruise so it will be great if I have to sleep on the deck! LOL

Thanks again for coming back with the cabin information and pictures. I really appreciate your help.

Hope you had a WONDERFUL cruise!

  13. Something for everyone! LOL While some people may think Liberty is an older ship, that's my favorite kind! December will be my 3rd cruise on Liberty.....Love that ship! I also wish I could find a 7 night cruise out of Florida on the Sensation or the Imagination.........my kind of ships!

But I know some people want to cruise the newest, biggest, latest model and that's great, too! Like I said, something for everyone! :)

  14. Thought this would be fun. On the carnival boards which cc member do look forward to seeing their reviews? I look forward to wrigley80, love her and her dad i feel like i know them from their reviews. They seem so genuine. I also look forward to paulmedik he has some of the best review pics ever on cruise critic. I consider him a neighbor in the little brother state west of me lol.

I agree!! LOVE to read reviews by Wrigley 80......very well written, excellent pictures and you just know that they are enjoying every minute of their cruise! :)

  15. We decorate our door BECAUSE WE LIKE TO DECORATE OUR DOOR. :p

We book pretty far in advance and so many things add to the excitement.....like the ANTICIPATION of everything about the cruise, the ports, the ship, etc. So the last several cruises I have added the search for the perfect door decorations to the anticipation. I have to be careful because of the luggage/space restrictions and that means I have to be more creative, too. I just think the decorated doors are fun and I love to see how creative some people can be. There is usually at least one port where we don't get off the ship and we use that day to walk around most of the ship looking for doors. LOL It is great exercise, gives us something to do on a port day and allows for an extra dessert since we have done so much walking around the ship looking at doors! LOL

  16. I 'did' the last 2 sails of the season last year (B2B). So, we 'got' Tracy Arm AND Glacier Bay. (I thought this may be a once in a lifetime chance to get my DH to take a cruise and wanted to 'do it all...') Had glorious weather for September last year.

Glacier Bay is nothing short of amazing and breath taking beautiful. However, I thought Tracy Arm was fabulous also. We 'did' the small boat excursion for Tracy Arm and thought it was well worth it. I thought the glaciers we saw on Tracy Arm (Sawyer and South Sawyer) were more spectacular than the glacier we saw in Glacier Bay. Sawyer had much more of the spectacular blue coloring.

Here is a pic of Sawyer:

And some Falls at Tracy Arm:

As everyone says.....photos do not do justice to the magnificient beauty. If you are able, consider doing 2 weeks so you get to see and do what you want. Many say it is necessary to have a balcony for Alaska and we did in fact have one. My DH spent quite a bit of time there during Glacier Bay day. However, I spent the entire day up on deck moving from one side to the other to take pictures. Was amazing and beautiful. So, if cost would be the only factor in planning, I would opt for an inside room and go for 2 weeks versus having a balcony for 1 week. Just my opinion.

Doing each of the ports twice allowed us to do everything we wanted to rather than having to pick just 1 excursion for each port.

    Enjoy!

Your pictures are beautiful! Thanks for sharing them. Alaska is on my 'bucket list".....now that I have the time, I don't have the money. LOL (But isn't that always the way?)

  17. I'm in 2477 in July, I can let you know, but you can type that ship and cabin number into this website or any search engine and get results

Thank you! I would appreciate it if you would come back on here with whatever you find about that cabin.

I HAVE looked on every site I can find and can't find pictures of those specific cabins. From the deck plans on Carnival's site, those cabins look a little larger and more irregularly shaped than some cabins. I am most concerned about that doorway and if I will have a problem getting in the cabin. (Oh, I WILL get in the cabin, LOL, just trying to find out how much trouble, if any, I will have.) Thanks for any info or pictures you get. :)

On one cruise, we had a balcony on the back of the ship and noticed one of the corner cabins had an odd configuration and two doors in the entrance.....we didn't pay too much attention to it then. Wish we we had. :(

  18. Has anyone ever stayed in cabin 2474 or 2477on the Liberty? We have this cabin booked for later this year and I can't find too much information on it, but what I have found looks like this cabin has an entrance that is "set back" a little from the hallway. Like the room has a little entranceway between the hallway and the actual door to the room. I would REALLY like to hear from someone who has actually stayed in this room. We like the aft rooms and have stayed there before. We know about the vibration when leaving and entering ports and this doesn't bother us. It is just the ENTRANCE to this room that has us a little confused. I use a walker that I always have to fold up to get into the room (doorway is not wide enough) and I guess I am just wondering if I will have any problems getting into this room with my walker?

I appreciate any information or pictures anyone has for this room.

    Thanks!!!
