  1. I believe the RIU Club Bachata is where Carnival is taking their guests. It does have better reviews. Definitely check out trip advisor on the RIU resorts in the Puerto Plata area. I also believe these resorts are all along the same stretch of beach.

I think that is where it is too. Thank you!

  2. Anxiously awaiting your reply. We will be there in July 2016. I've received a quote for a day pass for forty dollars from RIU Meregnue which is very close to the port. However, trip advisor reviews indicate many people fall ill at this location. I have 33 people in my group, and I definitely don't want to expose these people to an intestinal germ.

OH NO! We just booked one of the RUIs for our cruise next month. It was the excursion through Carnival. Not sure if it is the same one. Where did you hear people were getting sick there? Was it on food?

  3. Trip advisor had more good reviews than anything. Most of the complaints were about the rooms than anything..... We r on a cruise excursion staying for a few hours..... The pool looks great as well as their beach. The food doesn't sound to be gourmet, but either is the food on the ship.

The pictures of the resort on trip advisor look good enough for me.

Do you happen to have the Trip Advisor link? I am not sure which RUI resort it is since there are a couple on the island. Thanks!

  4. port fees and taxes may have increased. I always look at that before submitting for a price drop. You can do a mock booking to see the port fees and taxes.

Back before the ES form, i called in once for a price drop and the increase in port fees and taxes negated the price drop so i told them i would keep my current price.

I did do a mock booking. I guess I need to call them. Thanks!

  5. I noticed the other day that the price of our cruise went down by $20. I know not so much, but $20 is $20, right? I filled out the form and e-mailed it to Carnival. They replied stating that they accepted my form and that there would be a price change in an e-mail. I received the e-mail only to find out that they charged us $20 MORE for our cruise (I think because we are on Lido and it now looks like they are charging more for those cabins?) and added $30 to our OBC. Has anyone ever experienced this before? If so, what did you do? All in all, it's still an extra $10 but I was just wondering if anyone had this happen before.

  6. My GFs and I just booked a cruise on the Victory in December going to this port. I'm excited. I did an all-inclusive in Punta Cana (although not near this port) and had their local rum (Mamajuana) and it was AMAZING. I hope to be able to find it at this port. We are pondering doing one of the all-inclusive resorts on the island. We'll see though, just waiting on more information about the port before we book anything.

  7. Yes, the embarkation process was pretty lengthy on the CT cruise, wasn't as lengthy on the past two MOR cruises I did with MSC. BUT, there was water once you got into the terminal, they had large coolers with cups next to them with water. And lemonade, I believe. That was also where the bathrooms. The only problem we had was that we were with my elderly mother and the seating in the terminal was impossible to acquire. Seats were all taken, sometimes there was one person taking up two seats, which was just plain rude. We FINALLY found a seat for my mother, once we got towards the front of the line, near the seating area before the long snakey lines.

Food was excellent, some of the best I've ever had on any cruise. Service, not so much. But it is what it is and we made the best of it. It's really hard to make a comparison when you are on a themed cruise as opposed to a regular cruise. As far as eating in the MDR, service was slow, but when you have a nice sit down dinner you don't want to be rushed. Am I correct? When we knew we had a show to attend, if we were that pressed for time we hit the buffet, no problem.

  8. I have seen 3 real cirq shows, and they are expensive. Though I have not seen the onboard production, I can not imagine it is anything like the big shore based productions, hence a lower cost.

Will they change out productions over time. Probably as people will tire of certain things and stuff needs to change.

The cirque show is not a Cirque de Soliel production. It's supposed to be LIKE Cirque de Soliel I think but it is NOT a Cirque de Soliel production so that should help with some costs.
