  1. Hello Biaria

We are so grateful for your help.

On October 29 I will be in Funchal on the Norwegian Epic. I am interested in buying a very old bottle of Madeira wine. Recently one of the most eminent wine writers from the US spent three months in Portugal and made a side trip to Funchal. What he wrote about Madeira wines is revealing, to say the least.

Can you find me the addresses of

    Vinhos Barbeito, and

    D’Oliveira.

The reason I need this information is I am signed up for a tour and may have very limited time to shop for this bottle of wine.

    Thank you.

    WWLL;

This is a little late for you to use but for others who might be interested here is a site that shows the locations of the wineries in the city center:

Last spring we visited Blandy's and enjoyed the wine tasting very much.

  2. Does anyone who has been on the British Isles cruise know if Princess provides a shuttle from Greenock to Glasgow? I know it is a one hour trip. Thank you.

I found the train to be very comfortable and efficient. The station is a short walk from the dock and there are frequent trains to Glasgow and return. I don't recall the price but it was quite reasonable and the Glasgow station is right downtown.

  3. After 6 cruises with Princess (Captain's Circle Platinum Level) you get complimentary credits for internet service, varing based on the length of the cruise.

Princess often hosts a daily cocktail hour with a discounted cocktail of the day and complimentary hor d'oeuvres for Platinum and Elite (16 or more cruises) members.

If you are an active military service member or veteran you can get immediate free onboard credits which vary depending on the length of the cruise.

If you own 100 shares of Carnival stock you can get additional onboard credits for any of the Carnival owned lines which include Princess. RCCL offers a similar shareholder benefit for travelers on RCCL or Carnival.

You have to apply for these OBC benefits prior to the departure of the cruise.

I don't believe prior cruise credits are interchangeable between the various Carnival owned lines.

  4. You apparently do not appear on the member list until your first post.

    Roy

This has been bothering me so much that I did some additional perusing of the member list. When I did a search for my own user name I did not appear on the list.

So, I looked at several hundred members on the list under different sections of the alphabet and what I think I have discovered is that members do not appear on the member list until they have posted 300 posts.

I apologize for creating some doubt about the independence of the reviews.

I am glad that so many CC member have taken an interest in this and I would hope that CC would consider allowing responses to reviews to be posted along with the reviews. This would go a long way to providing more accurate information for CC users.

  5. Methinks there was a con artist on board and this sucker fell for it.

I think this message was a plant by *CC*. It was written by an alleged member Srandaz2, but there is no member in the member list by that name.

So, how did it get posted? It was posted by a *CC* Admin.

Keep in mind that *CC* was started on AOL but it is now owned by Trip Advisor, which is a publicly held travel company listed on the NASDAQ under the symbol TRIP.

  6. It is sad to see it go.

We sailed on its last voyage as the Princess Love Boat in Oct-Nov 2002 on a 17 day cruise from NYC to Rome. It only had about 750 passengers and 350 crew.

Our room was nothing like those shown on the TV show, small with separate bunks in an L shaped configuration. The crew and passengers got to know one another very well.

Gavin MacLeod came to an on-board party in the NY harbor and acted has the captain as we left the port. It was filmed for the Travel Channel and we saw the program on TV months later after we returned home.

It is one of our most memorable cruises.

  7. You won't have any problems..enjoy Roatan..:)

The current media would lead you believe otherwise::eek:

On Dec 24th the US State Department issued a new travel advisory for visitors to Honduras because of the incidents of high crime and violence:

Honduras police say great-granddaughter of General Foods Inc heiress slain in Caribbean:

Honduras has had the highest murder rate in the world since 2010. 50 (now 51) Americans has been killed in Honduras since 2008 and only 2 (now 3) of the murders have been solved.

  8. I saw the following on another thread discussion about the use of walkie-talkies onboard, thought a copy would be enjoyed here:

Story from some place I can't remember. Wife is waiting in line for the dining room to open up. Hubby is not there. She gets on the walkie-talkie and asks where he is. He says he doesn't have any clean underwear. She says to put on yesterdays and get down here.

Of course everyone hears this. He walks in late and gets applause from all of those arround them. Don't know if his wife ever told him why.

  9. We were aboard the "last cruise" of the original "Love Boat" (Pacific Princess) from NY to Rome 2 years ago. There was a couple aboard who each carried a Teddy Bear with them, everywhere, all day long. Whenever they sat down to eat or drink, the bears sat on the table and "shared" with them. Whenever they won at Trivia (which seemed like every day) the bears collected the prizes. I think the bears even had different outfits, including tux and formal for the formal nights. Everyone on board was familiar with the "bear people".

    Hey Hawk;

We were on that cruise and I remember the "bear people". I went on a day trip to Fatima and the bear people were also on that side trip with their stuffed buddies. What a great cruise that was! A few months later I was watching the Travel Channel and saw us all, including the bear people on a program featuring the Love Boat.
