  1. Regarding vibration and engine noise in the back of the ship, we book an aft wrap balcony every time. The furthest back you can go. We have had 4 of these in the past and with the advancements in cruising I think you will find there is no vibration that would bother you. We are on the Vista in an aft wrap (6461) in February 2017. The further front you are in a transatlantic, the more motion I believe you may feel. However, I would not hesitate to book any cabin as this is a wonderful ship. You cannot go wrong! Have a safe Easter!

  2. Greetings fvandewouwe!

Please accept my sincere concern for what you and your fellow countrymen are going through at this time. We in the United States pray for your country. I have been to Belgium three times on vacation and can only say wonderful things about the kindness and hospitality of the people of Belgium. Brugges is one of my favorite cities!

Now to answer your question. Keep in mind none of us knows for sure as this is a new ship. I would go with 1378 for the following reasons:

    1) I prefer midship toward aft as most evening activities such as dining, Havana bar, etc is in the back of the ship.

    2) 1378 does not have a room directly across form it. This should keep the hallway quieter as far as doors opening.

I am sure either one would be a good choice as you really will not spend much time there except to sleep.

Keep us posted on you decision. And have a wonderful time on the transatlantic as it sounds fantastic!

  3. We have been to Antigua three times. We lucked out and found Eli's Adventures the first time we went and he has the most amazing options. He now has three different options with three different types of boats. I can't say enuf good things. We love the extreme circumnavigation tour. Worth every penny. If you have dreamed of being Don Johnson on Miami Vice flying across the water in a cigarette boat, u will fit right in...

my favorite day in the Caribbean!

    w w w . a d v e n t u r e a n t i g u a . c o m

of course type it without the spaces.

You can go on the cigarette boat, the eco boat or the sloop. All options are winners!

  4. Can everyone help me? Am very tech savvy so have no idea what I am missing. I am on the Vista next February. Booked it 13 mths ago. have not made final payment. Have completely checked in. There is nothing said anywhere about check in time. Can someone cut and paste what page this is on? Many thanks to my CC friends:eek:!

  5. Heads up on Nachi. I was there last Tuesday from Celebrity Constellation. I had one pina colada and the guacamole. Within about 30 minutes I began to feel rather queasy. Then I became nauseated and quickly left. I barely got back to the ship before I became violently ill. This lasted about two hours. Once the food / drink came back up, I was fine. Clearly, if u go, I would not eat or drink. I spoke to one other person that was there that day from my ship and the same thing happened to her and her family. It was not noro as we were fine once we got the food out our tummies. So a big word of warning!!

  6. Use caution with Spirit. They cancel a lot of flights. Spent two years of my life fielding complaints about them. Dont wanna miss the cruise.

I always fly in the day before on spirit and take the first flight of the day. I fly them a couple of times a month and they have not cancelled me yet. But always come a day early and arrive at your departure airport at least two hours in advance as spirit seems to close the boarding door early

  7. Whoa before you book! I would definitely do the Vista and here is why! You can drive to Buffalo (very close to you, right?) My friends fly Buffalo to Fort Lauderdale all the time - I looked at the rates today and they are about $100 - $125 roundtrip on Spirit Airlines per person. I checked with my friends and sometimes it is less but really never more and the prices maintain from year to year. We fly them all the time. The Shuttle picks you up at Fort lauderdale and takes u straight to port of Miami. I have done this multiple times myself. I am on Vista next Feb 2017. Please consider booking an 8 day on Vista - the itinerary is one of the best. I know u say u have not been to any of the islands before but the 8 day islands far surpass the 6 day islands (and I have been to them all ). You do not need to drive - u can fly and have a much more relaxing trip!!

  8. Although this woman was not on a cruise, she was staying at an exclusive resort on Grenada. She was walking on the beach with her husband and was assaulted and murdered. Just the week before a Canadian tourist was murdered here. Exercise caution when you leave the ship.

    Dear Travel Professional,

We would like to provide you with some important health-related information to share with your clients.

On January 15, 2016, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) upgraded their Zika virus travel health notice to "Alert Level 2" (Practice Enhanced Precautions). The notice currently affects specific areas of the Caribbean, Central and South America. For the most up-to-date information on the Zika virus and countries affected, please visit the website: http://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/notices.

Zika virus is spread primarily through mosquitoes, which mainly bite during daytime hours. It is not transmitted from person to person. Symptoms of Zika typically develop 3-12 days after being bitten and may include fever, headache, skin rash, joint pain and conjunctivitis (red eyes). The illness is usually mild with symptoms lasting from 2-7 days and most people who contract Zika experience no symptoms at all. Comprehensive health information can be found at http://www.cdc.gov/zika/index.html.

There has been a recent increase in poor pregnancy outcomes among mothers who contracted Zika during pregnancy. These cases are being reported in areas where Zika virus outbreaks have occurred. Knowledge of the link between Zika and these outcomes is still developing. For this reason, the CDC Advisory particularly impacts women who are pregnant and women who are trying to become pregnant.

The CDC advisory recommends that women who are pregnant in any trimester consider postponing travel to areas where Zika virus transmission is ongoing. If pregnant women do opt to travel to Zika affected areas, the CDC recommends talking to their healthcare provider in advance and strictly follow steps to avoid mosquito bites during their trip. Specific guidance for women who are trying to become pregnant is also included in the CDC advisory. More information can be found here: http://www.cdc.gov/zika/pregnancy/question-answers.html.

There is no vaccine to prevent Zika Fever however individuals can reduce their risk of contracting Zika and other mosquito-borne illnesses by following these steps prior to going ashore:

Apply insect repellent which contains one of the following active ingredients: DEET, picaridin (KBR 3023), Oil of Lemon Eucalyptus/PMD, or IR3535.

If both sunscreen and insect repellent is used, apply the sunscreen first and then the repellent.

Repellent is available for purchase from the shops on board.

Wear a loose, long-sleeved shirt and long pants, preferably of a light color to minimize the likelihood of being bitten.

Should your clients experience any symptoms of fever, headache, skin rash, joint pain and conjunctivitis (red eyes) while sailing with us, please have them contact the ship's Medical Center or their doctor if they have already returned home. Remind them they should tell their healthcare provider about their recent travel.

Thank you for taking the time to read this important information.

    Sincerely,

    Patrick Fullerton, DO

  10. Am taking another Connie cruise just because he is so fun with his crew! They are simply the best.....participating in shows, pool volleyball, makes the boring ship announcements fun, etc. He is a GREAT asset to Celebrity!

  11. Help please. I am new to Cruise Critic who would like to have a Live Chat with Lisa Lutoff-Perlo of Celebrity Cruise. On the Cruise Critic website, I went to Community/Live Chats and clicked on Lisa Lutoff-Perlo only to find the past archived Live Chats. But, I could not figure out how do I start a new chat? I see no icon any anything to click on to start it.

I have another question. We are taking a transatlantic cruise and Celebirty Constellation is scheduled to leave Fort Lauderdale Port Evergladesat at 5pm. By what time do we need to be at the Port not to miss the ship? Our plane does not arrive FLL until 2pm. Do we have enough time? We are light traveler and only have carry on bags (no checked bags). For now, we have budgeted the times, 20 min for plane taxing from the runway to the gate, 20 min for us to be off the plane, 20 min to get a cab and 20 min for the cab to get to the port. Is it reasonable time budget? Thanks, Eric

Hello & congrats on a great cruise. The Constellation is my favorite ship! We live part of the year in Fort Lauderdale and I fly in and out of that airport an average of 30 times a year. and I can tell u that you really must change your flight. You have a three hour time difference coming from California so I realize that 2PM FLL time is really 11am Calif time. Your flight is 4 hours so you are leaving at 7am on what is likely the first flight of the day. But FLL airport, although close to the port, has delay issues all the time. If the weather is stormy in FLL, they will not land whereas at other airports they will land in bad weather. You are taking a huge risk flying in so close. And I am very adventurous but I think u run a fair risk of missing the cruise. Definitely fly in the day before. It will cost you to change the flight but that is better than missing half the trip!

  12. Wow...I am the original poster and can't thank u enough for all ur responses and suggestions. That is why I love CC - everyone takes care of one another. Well I think u r all correct...we need to play it by ear and once onboard I will talk to someone in the know to see what their thoughts are as far as how easy it will be to tender. We go on tour boats all the time in Florida and have taken the ferry back & forth to St John....the issue for me with tendering is the though of having two boats bobbing. It would be different if you were getting on solid ground. The fact there is an elevator / lift down to the tender sounds great so there won't be a bunch of stairs. But if it is tendering we won't make it to St John on our own so am thinking about renting a car for the day in St Thomas. Have driven throughout the Caribbean so driving on the left on curvy roads is not a problem for me. If we docked at Havensight, car rental is there. But not knowing where we r coming in, I am not sure where to reserve. Does anyone have any thoughts / suggestions? And if I can't get her off the ship, would hate to lose the money for the reservation. Does anyone know if passengers in wheelchairs are able to tender at St Thomas in the past? She is not in a wheelchair but I feel if someone in a wheelchair feels safe enough to tender, with me and 4 strong HAL guys, we can help her feel safe.

  13. Hi 1ANGELCAT! Thank you for your reply! I checked cruise documents and no mention of tender there, only Half Moon Cay which is a completely different kind of large tender she can do. It looks like Havensight to me but on a couple of websites (not HAL ones) it now says Inner Anchorage which seems to mean a tender. HAL website still says nothing about a tender....I will call HAL tomorrow!

  14. Help! I am going with my 86 y/o/ mom on a cruise leaving 11/7/15 on the Westerdam. I have seen some things that indicate the ship is not docking and that it will be tendering in the harbor. I have also read that it can be quite ruff and that if u r disabled or unsteady it can be dangerous. I am now very concerned about this and wondering if we should just stay on the ship as I do not want her to fall bring transferred onto a small lifeboat. Anyone that has done this process - can u tell me how it works? Obviously we will never make St Johns on our own if it tenders.

  15. Hi - we are in the aft wrap Havana on deck 6 at the end of Feb 2017 out of Miami - I wanted to be close to the pool & see people as well the ocean....the aft wraps are a great location as u will get the best of all worlds. Having access to the Havana lounge & pool in the day will be really nice and I love aft wraps. Aft wraps are different among the different cruise lines...I think u will really like it!

  16. So it is my understanding after speaking to numerous Carnival reps if you are in an aft wrap or an aft cabin on 6 or 7 it is a Havana but it will not have a hammock (which I expected) but it will have the lounge chairs as they usually do on all afts and aft wraps. So the bottom line is if you are in a Havana room that is an aft or aft wrap, the balcony is the same as always as far as outdoor furniture but the inside decor will be Havana....but who knows? That is the great mystery! But I am assured that an aft wrap will have two lounge chairs as it does on every Carnival ship. Besides, I would probably roll out of that Hammock & make a big crash on the deck....lol! From what I am hearing, Carnival is going to do their best to keep all Havana cabin type clientele happy as this is their latest & greatest cabin!:)

  17. It's still there. ATM I'm a solo so it'll be $3069.02 for all that room for little ol' me. That and I noticed in the description that the balcony will have patio chairs and table. No mention about a lounger or a hammock. Normally I travel with hosted cruise companies so I might hold out and see if one of them books the Vista in 2017. That or wait till reviews come out on the Cabana cabins so I can decide which one I would like best without overspending!

Wichita....I checked - it will be a setup like the other aft wraps....two lounge chairs, 2 - 4 regular chairs & a table. And I would so go solo...may do that myself next year!

  18. I was doing mock bookings today and saw the newly categorized cabins. I will sail this ship sometime in 2017 but not sure if I want to be on the main deck or spring for one of the wrap around where I can look down and people watch at night. I think this whole concept if for people who like to people watch!

Hey - Wichita....on the 2-25-17 8-day cruise I saw one aft wrap on six that is a havana cabana left yesterday....we have the other wrap on 6. This is a good cruise as 4 port days and three sea days....a good balance....

  19. Hi - we just returned on the Destiny from a 9-16-07 cruise & booked independently for Dominica. We heard some of our tablemates who either wandwered off on their own or booked with the ship's choices. They were not nearly as happy as we were We are so glad we went independent as we had the time of our lives. It was an absolutley beautiful island. We used Levi Baron from Bumpiing Tours - he was raised there and is a true environmentalist who knows so much cool stuff - we had lots of bottled water, free beers & stopped at this cool fruit stand. We covered this island and saw so much. He was professional & dependable. His van was brand new with major AC which was a shocker as I am used to getting into old tour vans. I was very comfortable and we are middle aged folks. You can book a private tour as we did - this let us go at out own pace - we were never rushed - or with a small group of your friends. He got us to the Emerald Pool before anyone else - I have a picture with no one in it - rather than 30 folks from the ship in the water. We did so much - I remember the gardens, 2 waterfalls, the pool, tons of incredible driving with lookout points, the sulfur vent area, the fruit stand with Mr. Nice, & other stuff - he really takes all of the ship tours & rolls them into one. (We even saw a tour from the ship where the older van had broken down & they were having to wait for a new van to come. Glad we were not on that one as you only have 8 hours.) We wore shorts & we were finme - Unless you really want to swim at the pool - shorts are fine as it lets you wade plenty deep. The good thing about Levi is will customize your tour & take you anywhere. You pay at the end. We really felt safe with him as he is a good experienced driver and those roads are twisting. His new vehicle (2007 Nissan / Toyota van with tinting that lets you see out but keeps it cool - even had custom air vents in the ceiling to keep us cool) made us feel safe & was so comfortable ( I have back issues & it was no problem.) We thought he was the kind of guy that makes an impression on you as his heart is in his work and it shows. :)

PS - this is a very safe country with a population that is ranked 4th happiest people in the world - you can tell - polite people who are thrilled to have the Destiny come to port. Be sure to buy a basket made by the Indian ladies - they were a bargain at the pool.

    A little slice of heaven.

    Becky:p & Leon:cool:
