  1. I just competed request for OBC for 6/15/14 sailing. I don't know if that is the type of OBC you are asking about. I had a question about when I would see this show up on my account so I called the RCI My Rewards #. I was told they would email me a confirm but the OBC would not be applied until 2 weeks before sail date and I could call back at that time to be sure. I was told the OBC would not show up on my onboard account till after the second day. I'll bring my confirm email just to be safe.

  2. ptcgal, thanks for the post about the 11/3 LOTS cruise Quebec City to FLL. I checked the prices that same day and booked myself a stateroom. Great itinerary and I love the overnight in QC before we even set sail. Thanks again!

Tazremmy, we have a lot of folks on the roll call for this cruise and already have a meet and mingle set up. Please join us!

  3. I usually do a false booking. Pretend you are booking this cruise and pick the cabin category which takes you to the page to enter you information - # of people including children in the cabin and answer the questions about any discounts you qualify for. ex Senior, military etc. This will bring up the pp price and compare with your current price. For example I've been checking a 11/14 cruise as a solo senior cruiser. The per person price has not dropped but the solo rate did and there was a new senior discount for this cruise. I wouldn't have known if I didn't do false booking. BTW save $200.

  4. Snorkling excursions, as mentioned in the previous post, would include the equipment rental. If you are looking to snorkel at the beach, RCI charges about 30USD for fins, mask/snorkel, and vest.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks so much. I am taking my 12 yr old grandchild who will try snorkeling for first time and didn't want to invest in gear if she doesn't wind up enjoying herself.

  5. I've just looked at this cruise, but it says no flights available. Thanks for the heads up though, I'll keep an eye on it.

Another price drop on solo fare for this repo cruise. Quebec City to Fort Lauderdale on 11/3/14. I booked an inside cabin at 140% on June 2013 and lately the solo fare was showing 200%. Just dropped to about 112%. Called RCI and saved about $200.

    $895 - Fare for 12 days

    $123.39- Tax & fees

    $1018.39 - Total

  6. There is a price drop on this 12 day cruise (11/3 Legend of the seas) Quebec City to Fort Lauderdale with several stops in Canada, New England an Bermuda. It was showing 200% for the cheapest interior but price is coming down. Just checked and it is at about 180%. If you're interested, you could keep watching to see if it drops more. I booked in June before the double points from Royal Caribbean went into effect with their 200% fares for solos. I booked at 140% so it's still too high for me to take advantage.

  7. MROBSTAD - I just checked and the single supplement rate on the Serenade is less than 125% for sailings all through 2014 and Spring 2015. I did a false booking for March 2015 and it showed 120% for an SI cabin (studio interior). I did not know Royal had any single cabins! There are only four on this ship. It looks like they are trying to fill these up and then the solo rate would be higher for regular interior cabins. Anyone interested should probably book early. Are there any other Royal ships with solo cabins?

  8. Always wanted to do a New England cruise and grew tired of same old Caribbean ports. I felt that I wanted to pick some different destinations. Next on my list is a trans Atlantic. I checked all the cruise lines I was interested in and found this solo fare at 140%. I also check VAG site and found this fare on their solo deals. I had a bad experience with internet travel cruise sites so I book directly with cruise line. However, that said, I just checked today to see if the fare dropped on RCI and found that the solo fare on this cruise has jumped to 200%. If you are interested, you might want to wait to see if the solo fare goes down closer to final payment date.

  9. Thanks so much. I had decided to look for cruises that I wanted to go as a deciding factor since I could not afford to take many cruises a year. Retired and on a budget. I guess I will just keep watch on the prices. Just good to know that I will have to do faux bookings as a solo to see if the price drops. I have my eye on a trans atlantic out of Barcelona for Barcelona for 2015. So grateful to CC members for all the info for newbes solos. You give us courage and advice that is invaluable.

  10. I booked a solo on the Legend of the Seas 12 day repo on Nov 3, 2014 - Quebec City to Ft. Lauderdale for 140%. Kept on checking the price in hopes of a drop in price. BTW - it's my first solo. The price for pp has remained the same but the solo price has jumped to 200%. I booked on 8/6/13. Is it better to book far out to get a better deal as a solo? I thought that perhaps the solo price would drop closer in to sail time. What do most folks do to try to beat the dreaded supplement?
