  1. I'm looking at booking a stop-over at DCA on US (AA). The airport terminal map shows US in Terminal C - but it seems to have 2 concourses. I know we would be going in/out from SYR on US Express/Shuttle and connecting both ways to a wide-body. Should we have to change concourses, can we do it without going thru security again?

Also, do they have people movers or golf cart type assistance available between the two concourses? If not, what kind of distance would we have to walk? - Wife is restricted on the distance she can walk without rest so might have to include extra stop-over time if no assistance is avbl.

    Thanks in advance.

  2.

Buy obc pre-cruise at 20%, better than any current bank or cc rate, cash out any remaining at end.

Not exactly true - but close. The currant BOC exchange rate is 19% and has been sitting between 17% and 19% for the past few weeks. I have a CC (Sears Mastercard) that doesn't charge an admin fee to convert US$. If the exchange rate stays the same I save a small amount by putting it on my card. I don't like giving Princess (or anyone) money in advance if I don't have to.

  3. I do understand his/her confusion, though. When I first read the title, I thought to myself, why is he/she flying into FLL if cruising from Port Canaveral. If was when I read the rest of her post that I realized I had mis-read the title.

I did too !! Just shows you have to read the post and not assume anything. ;) I've done that more than once. :o

  4. Thank you. Shops that I've noted that we could browse at Oakwood are: Kmart, Marshalls, Old Navy, BJs, Big Lots, Dollar Star.

I believe we can walk to this area, right? I tried looking on goggle maps via street view and I'm only questioning since the sidewalks look narrow. But distance-wise, it states only 16 minute by foot.

Hi LuCruise... as a fellow Canuck I'll give my opinion. While LaQuinta is ok - I'm not a fan of Oakwood mall. It's what we here in Canada call a "Box Store Mall'. If you're into HomeDepot - it's the first store you get to and most of the stores are similar. They have K-Mart (think Wal-Mart) which you can go to any time at home - albeat, they're prices are better).

There are eating facilities there, but other than for take-out places I only remember one restaurant that was exceptional (can't remember the name) but it was near the entrance as you walked towards the mall.

Walking distance can be deceptive... We were lucky in that the shuttle driver took us over for free (tip of course), but once we ate and bought some stuff.. the walk back was dark and.. well just a 'little' long. The hotel is basically at a dead end street and we were not comfortable. I especially wouldn't want to be with 'little ones'.

17th Street.. Las Olas area.. Beach area would, in my opinion be better. Good Luck and have a great cruise.

  5. K.. Just found one thing... the 23k members I mentioned were for that one letter of the alphabet that I picked - so there are obviously thousands of people on the boards (millions?). Same Q though.. does CC delete members who haven't posted for a specific period of time?

  6. I've been searching the Members List trying to find some people we've met in the past. Even though I know they've posted several times on CC in the past, I just can't find them. The 'List' only shows 23k members, yet I suspect there are many, many more. Or, maybe I'm not getting the complete list?? Does anyone have a clue as to whether CC deletes a member if they haven't submitted for a certain period of time.... Or - can someone have their user name deleted upon request? Just curious.

  7. I'm not impressed with this sale. I priced two cruises I'm interested in and the pricing two weeks ago was better than what is offered as a sale. And they have eliminated the OBC. Thanks, but no thanks!

I agree... the prices I'm getting on the "sale" are nearly $300(Cdn) more pp that what I booked at last week. And did I read somewhere that it's a non-refundable deposit?

  8. Pricing gets weirder as time goes on. Booked a cabin last Fri for $1338pp. Checked this am and saw the Memorial Day "sale" and checked pricing - same cabin $1558 (on sale). HUH?? A few minutes later decided to confirm the price and it was up to $1678 !!

  9. When you book a room in a hotel the room rate is almost always for up to two occupants. Do you ask to have the room rate cut in half if you are there by yourself? No one would think of doing that at a hotel, so why should they ask for it on a cruise?

Whether there are one or two occupants in the room, the space is exactly the same. Just as in a hotel, you are "renting" the space, whether one person or two. Cruise lines are no different.

That was my first thought as well.

  10. Was just surfing the Princess website for pricing and found the Royal 10 day cruise in Nov 2015 has dropped significantly! I just booked Nov 20th with a savings of 1200$ Cdn for the cabin from what was advertised last week. The Cdn price is actually lower than any US price that I could find on TA sites in the states. It works out to be at least a 25% savings in Cdn $ for us. Don't know if it's a computer glitch, but saw that another Canuck got the same deal when he called Princess yesterday. Also means the insurance option is cheaper since it's based on the total cost of the cruise.

  11. Keep in mind that even though your booking has been assigned to one credit card.... when you check in, each room will have to have a cc assigned to it for on board purchases (usually with the occupants name on it). Possibly? your in-laws could go with you to check in and present their card.. don't know.

Or, possibly, you could have the in-laws reserve some of your excursions to their room?? You (they) will get a voucher left in the room for the excursion which can easily be given to anyone.

Just thoughts.. Have a great cruise.

  12. What do you mean if the CAD price ends in 80 or 90 cents when you booked it?

I do NOT understand that statement.

Thanks and Have a great cruise

If your price pp ends in 90 then you are paying 10% - if the price pp ends in 80 then you are paying 20%.

    We're sailing on Sept 25.

Our 'Base Fare' (line one on our invoice) ends in .80.

The breakdown by passenger ends .90.

Based on your experience, which ending is the 10% rate and which is the 20% rate, and wondering how you learned this?

Same thing.. your price pp ending in 90 means you paid 10%. When you add the two together 90+90 you will get a number that ends in 80 which is what your invoice says. Plus you're sailing before the price increase so it's at 10% pp.

  13. Wow, greatam. Thanks for the warning. Mom and I wouldn't mind a passport issued in Mom's birth certificate name.

    Vicki

Vicki... I've had great advice from greatam in the past and would trust her completely. After all - she's been around the world a couple of times!!

The BC advice that's she is giving seems to be the best solution to your situation. Good luck.

  14. Also clarification of who is going may help, I am unsure if they mean a group of students who have just finished High School, which may lead to trouble booking cabins if someone needs to be over 21, or is it basically a High School reunion, that would also make a big difference.

My first thought was exactly that - students who have just graduated would not qualify to book cabins without an adult. If it's a reunion ... totally different story.

  15. Thank you for the info. I thought it was Port but we were moved to this cabin due to some things that happened in the booking process and I was not sure.

I cannot wait. It will make for beautiful sunsets and drinks on the balcony.

You do realize that you can only get beer while in port in Canada.. EH ! :D

    Kidding.
