We will be in Portland from 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Have never been there and would like some suggestions. We are open to all suggestions. Thanks so much.
Hi Canuck eh. I think they may have changed our port time from 7 - 5 to
8 - 6 in Portland. Not that it probably makes any difference but thought I better let you know in case you decide to rent a car or something on your own. Really looking forward to June. Less than 6 weeks to go. Wooo Hoooo!:)

Just got back from Freeport last week. We did the East End Extravaganza Tour with H. Forbes Charter. They picked us up from the port and took us
to Lucayan National Park. We saw the caves and then walked over to the Gold Rock Beach where we stayed for an hour. Absolutely beautiful. Not very many people were there. We went at low tide so you could walk out a long way with water up to your knees. After that, we stopped at a placed called
Banana Bay. We stayed there an hour. The beach was just as beautiful.
They have a bread that we tried that was really good. We split a
Cheeseburger and Frys and they were good too. It cost us 40 pp for this tour.. I wanted to do the Kayak trip thru Carnival but was afraid it might be to strenghous for us but wanted to really see the park. This is a great inexpensive way to get there. After the tour we dropped some people off at a hotel which
is right by Lucayan Market Place. We ask the tour guide to just drop us off there for some shopping and then we spent some time at another nice beach across the street. It cost us $5 pp for a taxi back to the ship. It was a very nice day for a reasonable price.:) I would highly recommend
this tour company. You do have to pay up front but they assured me in
an email that they would credit my credit card if the ship did not port.

We are in St. Thomas on Oct. 12 (Carnival Freedom). It looks like there is a 8:00am ferry from Red Hook to Cruz Bay. Is that correct? And if our schedule says we dock at 7:00am, do you think we could make the 8:00am ferry?
I would like to get to Trunk Bay as early as possible. I am hoping to get some good snorkeling in before it gets to crowded.
You read my mind, I have the same question. ;) Also, what would a cab usually cost for 4 people from Havensight to the ferry terminal in Red Hook? Also How much would cab ride be from Cruz Bay to Trunk Bay.
Thanks for the info.:)

I just paid $5.00 for two spice necklaces. We were on Mandoos tour and bought them when we made a stop. I believe you can get your spices cheaper away from the port. I got 3 small baskets with 6 spices in each for $9.00. You could give them away to 3 different people. I am keeping them for myself. :) Already had bought souvenirs for everyone before we got there.

So Farid charges $25/person while Hans charges a flat $210 and you have to find people to split that with you?
Farid is two hours long and Hans is 5 hours so there is your price difference.

Yesterday, I won on Priceline the Sheraton Hotel in Anchorage for $115 for 1 night. We are staying August 30th. Hotel said they had shuttle to pick you up from train depot but not to airport. She said cab would be around $20 to get to airport. I had a Motel 6 booked but this is less money. :)

I'm looking for a recommendation for a hotel in Vancouver to use the night prior to our cruise. Location isn't really important, but a reasonable price is. If the hotel included free (or low priced) shuttles from the airport to the hotel and then from the hotel to the pier, that would be a great bonus.
Any suggestions from anyone?
You ought to try Priceline. I got the Pacific Palisades for $135 per night and it is a 4 star hotel and in a great location on Robson Street. This if for two nights in August.:)

Try to use another computer (if you have) to search once more time. It was strange that when I used my computer to do the search, the hotwire quoted $119/night for the 4 stars hotel in May, and then I used my sister's one to search, it quoted $109/night, and so book the room immediately via her computer.
I hope this doesn't sound silly but I wonder if it matters where you are located when you look at hotwire. I have been watching Seattle Downtown 4* for weeks and never seen it less than $146 per night for August 21 and 22nd. I know the cruise lines have regional discounts so maybe this is why. Hope my response doesn't sound to silly, I guess with computers anything is possible.:)

I just won the Seattle Downtown Sheraton at $129 per night for August 21 and 22nd on Priceline.:) Quite pleased with this since Tuesday and Wedneday nights seem more expensive than Friday and Saturday. Wonder if it is because of the business travellers.

Bid $129 -- I just got the Sheraton Seattle Downtown for that price. You might go over to Hotwire, as they show a downtown 4 star hotel for $119 for your dates:

Good luck,
Kel
What was the date that you got the $129 price for? I have been watchng the hotwire website and most of the time it is going for around $149 per night for my dates Aug 21st and 22nd for a 4 star downtown Seattle. It was $152 when I checked a few minutes ago. Of course I missed the $119 price, I am always a day late and a dollar short. It seems like it is cheaper on the weekends than during the week. Thank you for posting your bid. :) I will keep trying. The Sheraton is the one I really want.

I bid $128 for a 4 star in Seattle Downtown and still didn't get anything. This is for August 21 and 22nd which is a Tuesday and Wed night. Anybody know if there is a convention going on that week. I have been trying for weeks.
-
What day of the week are you staying at the Sheraton. I have been trying for 3 weeks to get a 4 star in Seattle on priceline for around $120 and I have noticed that on Hotwire it is cheaper to stay Thursday and Friday night instead of Tuesday and Wednesday night. Of course, I need Tuesday and Wedneday in August since we are spending Thursday and Friday night in Vancouver before the cruise. I wonder why these week days are more expensive. Could it be because of the business people staying there during the work week?

Hey, I don't know if you have seen this, but a great website is Bett erbidding.com I went back to last summer to see what kind of bids they took last then. Very helpful website.

I wouldn't give up this early. I got Pacific Palisades which is a 4* in Vancouver for $135 per night for August 21 and 22nd. It is in a great location on Robson St. Somebody else I read on these boards got same hotel for $125 per night for May or June, I can't remember. I would go ahead and book a backup hotel just in case it doesn't work out for you that you can cancel and just keep trying because you may be able to get a great deal. I now need to book two nights in Seattle and I figure I will just keep bidding low and maybe I will get lucky on a 4* what have I got to lose. I have six whole months to bid. Good Luck in your bidding!:)
-
Sounds great to me. I would have been happy. I may try a 4* first, and bid up to say $100, only because I am afraid on a 3* I won't get as good a hotel as you did. Glad you did well.:)
-
What kind of bids did you submit for a four star that were not accepted?
-
4* Downtown Vancouver
Pacific Palisades Hotel
Winning Bid $135 per night on Priceline
Staying two nights August 21-23, 2008
Not the Westin but still ok since website shows almost $200 per night during cruise season.

Is there a way to take a scenic drive back from Kennebunkport to Portland. Possibly along the coast. Thanks for the info. The rental car sounds like a good idea if there is scenery to and from.
