Does that mean that Azamara has some sort of 'all inclusive' visa access for passengers, or that Azamara sorts out the paperwork and then bills you for the visa?

On our cruise with Journey from Athens to Dubai in October 2023, the passports were collected one day before we reached the country where visas were required and we could collect them in the evening before we visited the relevant ports. On this cruise, all visas where complimentary.

As first time Azamara guests it may seem odd to make dinner reservations.  In fact, this is entirely optional.  Only guests wishing to pay for the specialty restaurants need to do this.  The main dining room is excellent with open and flexible seating.  We do reserve specialty dining just to switch it up and because we think Prime C is fabulous.
Clearly individual patrons have personal needs and expectations.  Makes perfect sense that if you don’t enjoy these cruises you won’t be back.  I hope you do - after my first cruise I turned to my husband and told him that  I don’t know when or where, but I wanted back on this cruise line! Fingers crossed you feel the same way.   Good luck!

We feel the same. After our first Azamara cruise, we knew this was our favoured cruise line. Our next one in March will be the 11th cruise on Azamara and any issues about OBC were solved within a very short time. Our OBC always shows in US$ even though we pay our cruises in Euro.

One of my main issues is not the ports but the visas. This cruise needs quite a  few visas (aka money for old rope) and I don't want to be buying visas and then find that we're not going to that country, because they're not in the habit of refunding. SL, India, Egypt, Saudi and Jordan all need visas, but hopefully the latter ones retain a visa on arrival.

The Egyptian and the Jordanian visa will be taken care of by Azamara.

We will be on the azamara pursuit departing from Lisbon and we're going there a day early so we're looking for some hotel suggestions. We would like to be close to the port. I know Lisbon has a lot of hills and then the terrain flattens out toward the ocean. We would like to stay in this flat area because my wife has mobility problems. Thanks.

I can recommend the Hotel Corpo Santo. Very convenient and near a bus stop that takes you to the port gates.

  5. Same with us. Last September, Pursuit docked  in the centre of town and we stayed at the hotel Radisson Blu post cruise. Very easy to reach by tramway. The tram stop was just outside the port gates. It couldn't have been easier.

They arrange it.  We made the mistake of getting our own.  Not only did it cause us to spend money (and time) unnecessarily, it caused great confusion with guest relations as they thought we were going to disembark in Egypt.

Thank you for confirming that the visa for Egypt will be arranged by Azamara. This is very reassuring.

I couldn’t have put it better. Our last 2 cruises in October 22 and March 23 were every bit as good as the 11 we did before them.

I feel the same way. Wonderful crew, beautiful ship, interesting itineraries.

June 23 Journey Spain Intensive. Lovely itinerary although disappointed we only arrive in Bordeaux at 8 pm on the day before departure.  I thought we would have the whole day there.   It's a Perry Golf cruise as well so I don't know if that will impact our usual Azamara experience.

The two  Perry Golf cruises we were on in 2019 and 2022 didn't impact our cruise experience in any way. The only time, we ever saw the group of golfers was in the speciality restaurants. It is worth to spend one or two nights in Bordeaux. We stayed at the Radisson Blu in September after our cruise on Pursuit. Good choice.

We are booked on Pursuit Rio to Lisbon in March. First time on Pursuit and looking forward to meeting @Grandma Cruisingand @oddjob16!! Also booked on Journey Athens to Dubai in October ‘23. First time on Journey too. Like others, starting to reconsider the long haul flights, especially as we always fly coach, saving our money for the cruise 🙂

We will be on Pursuit on Jan. 7, 2023 to Antarctica and in Ocober 2023 on Journey from Athens to Dubai. We also always fly coach. Therefore, the ZRH to EZE flight will be a challenge. But we also like to save the money for the cruise, excursions and post cruise hotel.

Last night on Quest in Bordeaux we had a local group in a Can-Can Spectacular onboard. It’s probably the best thing we’ve ever seen onboard, I worked in Paris and it was as good if not better than anything I saw there.

Full credit to Azamara at its best.

Thank you for this nice video. We will be on Pursuit Amsterdam to Bordeaux and are looking forward to this show.

I was on the Pursuit in June and was very pleased to find that things were largely the same except for a few covid related adjustments (like officers not moving around as much and no dinner buffet on deck 9). The ship had its first full blown White Night on that cruise and you could feel the excitement in the air. There were several special events (e.g. themed outdoor lunches or brunch for the location) and they were all very well done. The crew was a well managed team that seemed to be happy in their jobs and, as always, anxious to please. Food was excellent. I'm going back for 24 nights on the Pursuit in just 4 more weeks and I can't wait. I hope business goes well for Azamara because it is the perfect cruise line for me!

I fully agree with you. We have been on Journey one week ago and liked it so much that we will be back on Azamara in 10 days' time.

We’ve always had ours allocated some time before, but I don’t think that’s always the case. I think it can go either way.

Ours was allocated at embarkation and we received an upgrade.

As an Azamara newbie, I have no experience of actually going on ship tours but I do know a tour I have  booked in the Falklands for my forthcoming cruise was less than half the cost booked direct, compared to what was available via the ship. As far as I can tell, exactly the same itinerary, if anything better because it is led by a native English speaking Falklander.

I fully agree with you. We were on the tour from Patrick Watts to Volunteer Point in the Falklands in 2019. The same tour that Azamara offered at less than half the price. We will be again on Pursuit to Antarctica in January 2023  and we will book Volunterr Point again with Patrick Watts. An unforgettable experience.
