  1. We will be cruising (with some trepidation) on this ship shortly. I have read that the free coffee is almost unrecognisable and virtually undrinkable. If we brink our own instant coffee along or even tea bags, will we be able to get free hot water and or milk to use?

I understand we have a fridge in our cabin, will there be an Icebucket and will it be replenished free of charge each day?

    Thanks foryour help

  3. I'm getting gel nails done for the first time ever for my next cruise in March. I've decided upon a French manicure with a smallish design where the white and pink bit join, it's a sort of curving black leaf outline with some brilliants added from a glitter pot.A friend of mine had something similar and could just varnish a different colour over them when she got bored. I'll post pix when done.

  4. So pleased you had a good day at the Cabo and Almeria, If I'd known you were doing that I could have given you some info on the area as we live there. The geology of the area is fascinating as the whole area used to be under the sea with many volcanos whose remains you can see in the Cabo area, there is also a gold mine (not working now). The fields of Aloes were used at one time to make a version of Tequila. The Cabo itself is one of the few places you can find ancient coral on the top ridges (you can also see this in the Andes) and many scientists visit the area. On the Eastern side of the lighthouse there are 2 stunning sand beaches(Monsul) with dunes. The area is used for many films incl Lawrence of Arabia and most recently Exodus. Around the Alcazaba the terraces were introduced by the Moors and were used to grow Mulberry bushes for the silk worms to eat as Almeria was a major silk producing area. You may also have seen come caves being used as warehouses, a few miles away they are still being used as houses. Hope you can come back soon to this relatively unknown part of Spain

  5. Love Ushuaia. You need to ask Passenger Services desk to return your passport so you can get them stamped...we did this...no problem. You can get passports stamped at the small post office along the walkway leaving the dock, where they charge 2dollars. Easier to do there than at the End of the World post office when out on tour.

  6. Came across these the other day, called Gypsy bare foot sandals, some designs ar a bit too young and hippy for me, but some of the less extravagant, the ones with pearls are pretty

Sorry for the long link, but just Google Gypsy barefoot sandals for pix if the link doesn't work

  7. The footrest takes about 10 seconds to blow up, and about that to deflate. Fold up flat and small. Just remember to twist the little plug thing in and out, don't pull. Twist and push in, twist and pull out.

Don't over inflate: it's best to have a little "give" to it. This footrest is soft and feels like you have your feet resting on a pillow. I love it!

Glad to hear this worked for you, as I bought one to use on our 11hr flight in March. I use compression sox plus the arnica/brushing

  8. Sounds like you will be arriving at the passenger terminal just a short walk from the town centre. There some interesting bits in the exhibition centre as you walk thro the building and just outside there is a paved area with a small clock tower where there are lots of taxis /vans offering tours. There also a tourist office there where you can get stamps, maps exchange money etc.

Last year when we were there we docked outside the town in what looked like a commercial area and were bussed into town or the big supermarket nearby.

  9. We were lucky we had a beautiful sunny day non rainy/windy day when visited the Falklands. We had to cancel our Patrick Watts tour because OH has a bad back and the bumpy overland trip might have been too much. We picked up a shorter tour at the dockside and saw smaller penguins but we did enjoy our day, esp walking around Stanley. However visting the Falklands led to Ushuaia not letting us in to their port!!!. On our next visit to Sth America the weather was too bad for us to get into Port Stanley but we did get into Ushuaia...Just love Sth America (and your reviews)

  10. I'm glad you enjoyed BA, we love it there, well, all of South America actually. Recoleta is huge and no doubt your guide told you of it's history and of the events leading to Evita's final resting place.

Hope you like Montevideo and the BBQ warehouse. It's so good to read other peoples impressions of places. Yes it will get cooler as you head south, so be prepared.

For anyone else reading this blog do take US $ to BA to use the rate of exchange is way better than if you use cards or exchange in your home country.

  11. When my husband broke his ribs at the end of the holiday (slipped in the bath at hotel the day before we had to fly UK to Spain) the pain medication given by hospital made him very drowsy and still in pain, once home he was given pain medication for about 6 weeks it took about 2 weeks before he could sleep in bed, usually slept upright in comfy chair. Once he started to be more mobile he used a stick for support. So in you position I would consider cancelling
