We had footstools on the aft C1 balcony a couple of years ago on the Infinity.

The exception being (which I should have added as a disclaimer which I did on several other threads), the larger, deeper aft balconies - including the AQ balconies that were added to deck 11 of the M class ships during the solstilization.

There are only a very few cabins in each category that had the footstools.

  2. We've only sailed in Concierge class once and that was when there were lots of little touches like a pillow menu, welcome champs, footstools, canapes, etc.... but to be fair - even when CC included these items, most people griped about how they didn't care for the canapes, didn't drink the champs, etc etc - so it's no surprise they've done away with these extras. I think the only real benefit with CC at this juncture is that perhaps those cabins are in a more preferable location. I for one, always loved the footstools ... but it was never a "make or break" for me.

Can anyone confirm if footstools are still on Eclipse in Aqua class.  Have read on other posts that they have been removed from all Millennium Class ships.  And another post seemed to indicate have been removed from Equinox.  Thanks in advance for tour replies.

I've posted this several times on other threads, M Class AQ and CC class cabins NEVER had footstools prior to revolutionizing of the ships. The only S class ship to be revolutionized at this point is the Equinox and it seems yes, the footstools were removed from the AQ and CC cabin balconies. One would assume that the footstools are still present on the Eclipse, but you may want to check the renovation schedule to determine if your cruise is before or after.

Why have the foot stools been removed from Aqua and Concierge cabins on the Millennium class ships?

I've mentioned this previously on another thread regarding the footstools. The M class aqua & concierge cabins DID NOT have footstools prior to the revolutionizing. We've said the Summit 5x dating back to 2012 - just after the "solstilization" (4 times in AQ and once in a suite), all prior to the update and never, ever were there footstools (with the exception of the deck 11 aft cabins that were added during the "solstilization") - so to be clear, it's not something that the cruise line giveth on M class, and then taketh away.  Also... the M class balconies are not as deep as the S class balconies, so I am not sure there would even be room for them even if X decided to add them.
*See thread below with photos of 2 separate AQ cabins and no footstools.

    ok... legit question here....

how on earth would a butler know "who paid what" for their suite??   They have no access to that information, correct?

The "contempt" should have been addressed immediately, firmly and pleasantly... and not simply tolerated.

I agree.... I do not believe they would be privvy to that information.

    Lorimay,

Thank you for the picture.  I'll be on the Summit soon and wasn't sure of the balcony furniture in Aqua class.  Was hoping that decent chairs weren't replaced with the awful ones in the sky suite. Now....... the footstool problem!

*See attached photo - Summit AQ cabin 9038 (larger, angled balcony), circa 2015. No footstool. Nice table (and cute husband!), though.

PS. Thank you for the photo Lorimay!

On the Summit now. Yes, there is a full length mirror on the inside of the wardrobe door.

Off topic re: mirrors, but since you are on board - can you tell me what the surface of the balcony looks like? In some pics, it looks like the old surface was redone during the revolution. It just to be a beige rubbery surface and I think now it's a faux wood surface?

  8. I think some of the complaints about the decor/furniture etc are a little too nit-picky... BUT... those wooden chairs on the sky suite balcony!??!  Like, for real!?? What the heck were they thinking? We sailed in that same sky suite in October and the old furniture was better. Simply the worst.

Looks like a good variety to suit sushi lovers and those who prefer other items!

We will def go for lunch.  Is it genrally open on Sailaway Day?

Yes, usually open on embarkation day. We love Sushi on 5 - it's a must for specialty dining on every cruise for us... usually more than once!

That’s nice to hear!  One of my service issues on previous cruises is with the drink packages we have to order wine by the glass and by the time I’d get my second, outside of specialty restaurants, dinner was nearly over.  We have select seating though so I assume we will get different servers all the time. Was you experience in the MDR?

We haven't sailed without the drink package since.... like, 2012? I've generally not had an issue with a refill - in select or fixed. With fixed dining however, the waiter tends to pick up on your preferences, so I've found it to be a bit more consistent.

Do you know if the Decoy cab is readily available around the ship, including the MDR?

We sailed the Summit this past October '18 and the Infinity in January - we had no trouble finding Decoy. In fact, after the first two nights of ordering it in the dining room, I don't think our glasses ever went empty :).

  12. We used to be big fans of select dining and have typically had decent service, acceptable table placement and little wait times. However, on our recent New Year cruise on the Infinity select dining was a complete and utter disaster. I kid you not when I say waiting to reach the host stand was like being in a mosh pit. Shoulder to shoulder,  dozens upon dozens of people all trying to get into the dining room. It's the only time we have experienced anything like this, but it was a total mess. By night 3, we said no more and switched to fixed seating at 8:30.
