Your calculations are based on menu prices of the drinks, these prices are hugely inflated in the first place

My drink of choice, Cucumber Sunrise at the Alchemy Bar, $10.95 plus tax = $12.91 per drink. Four of those is around $52 dollars. To me, that is close enough to break even. A couple sodas, specialty coffee, glass of wine with dinner and a bottled water added to these 4 drinks is way past breaking even.
I was only going on what I had read from other posters , We don't think its worth it for us , as we may have the odd day of having a few drinks , I doubt it will average out to many a day , I don't drink sodas or the coffees although the other half does . I may have a drink in the day , but 4 out of 7 days are port days . I am just aiming to hope I dont exceed what I would have paid if I had bought the package .....I will however cry everytime I have to pay over $12 for a drink though !

I found the dream was fine inside , she just looks a bit worse for wear on the outside lol ....however she looks a lot better than the huge block of flat style cruise ships . We were moored up next to PO's Oriana in January , I think she may be older but she sparkled
I cant remember the lifts being much of an issue , except when coming back on board

Although we really enjoyed the dream last New Year , we found the music acts around the ship not very good tbh although the Broadway show team were amazing , there is limited seating as well which was a bit of a pain . I think they may be a bot bored

Is the $119 you refer to a day? Or for the whole cruise? Carnival is only $51.95 per day when including tax and gratuities around $61 a day. Not sure where you are getting $119. Typically, the same as RCI, on Carnival you need to drink 4 drinks a day to break even. And it includes drinks valued at $20 or less. You must wait five minutes between drink purchases and have a 15 drink limit per day.
I am sure break even is much higher then 4 drinks

Thanks so much for your quick responses! Can't wait to board and have a great cruise.
Cant help thinking the cruise would be better if not sharing a room with MIL!

Some years ago there was a report in the news of someone commiting suicide by setting them selves of fire , it seemed that for a period of time afterwards that there was a few suicides by the same method .Now we are seeing reports about people jumping overboard, it may be people who are suicidal are influenced , for want of a better word , to choose a method that has been brought to their attention
Very sad , you have to be in a very very place to do this

There is nothing worse than hanging around until your cabin is ready, I much prefer to be able to dump my stuff off in the cabin and then go exploring. We have picked the latest time we could to be honest we would have preferred it to be later to make our drive down more relaxed
If you book onto hotels you can rarely check in before 3pm

I’m aware of what was asked. It’s just the idea of having a strict vegetarian standing at the counter of Guys Burgers asking about oil content with blank expressions from the staff when there are so many other food options aboard ..... but hey, that’s just me. Whatever though ......
Why should we be restricted as to where we can eat ? All the eating areas should cater for vegetarians , and provide as many choices .I have looked at the menu examples for mdr and there doesn't seem to be a lot of vegetarian choice , and it's all very well saying eat at the buffet but would prefer to eat with the rest of my party !

Thank you
Our first cruise was on RCI mariner of the seas and we hated it ......we dont know why , maybe it was too big ?
All our subsequent cruises have been on smaller old and according to some reviews about to to sink under all the rust and we have loved them
Celebrity Millenium, P&O Oceania , Ventura , Acardia ( didn't like)
And Marella / Tui discovery and dream
So we are far from fussy lol

We will be going on our first Carnival cruise in January , on the Legend and I am curious why this ship is rarely mentioned on here

Yes, but you will have get in the early/late line! Best to get there at your assigned time.
We have got the latest check in time possible, we will be driving from St Augustine so we will set out a bit earlier

I need to go to Alaska.
It counts as the best trip we have ever done . We started in Fairbanks ( 3 flights from the UK!) And did a DIY trip over a week to Seward to pick up the cruise

This may be a stupid question but I am assuming its ok to turn up late ?

(Humpback whale in Alaska, sea otters again in Alaska .Orca's jumping in the wake of the ship while sailing inside passage to Vancouver
Then of of course the bears should off the ship

As a vegetarian that menu fills me with joy ...
Not !!
I will be very unhappy with that lack of choice

On NCL everyone in the same cabin also has to purchase the drink package ? Every cruise line I have been on ( unless all inclusive ) has the same rule
-
Our very first cruise was an RCI carribean cruise we hated it so much we said we would never cruise again lol ( cant put our finger on why btw ).Cozumal was the highlight of the cruise

We haven't cruised Carnival yet ( first cruise Jan 2020 ). We almost always eat breakfast in the MDR , every cruise we have been on the buffets aren't the most pleasant places to eat

Nothing. I keep my cabin very tidy and do my best to make their job as easy as possibly. However, I prefer the traditional service times I have enjoyed in my two decades of cruising. If you are willing to forego traditional service standards then go for it, my issue is with those who project how some are 'making their job harder' because they prefer traditional.
Traditionally there would have been less rooms per steward
Or doesnt that count ?

Yet they're still not using a fountain system. Do you think that just maybe, it just MIGHT be possible that a corporation that runs dozens of massive ships serving millions of sodas a year just MIGHT know a little more about how to do it cost-effectively than you do?
Honestly?
no
Anyone regret purchasing the Cheers program
in Carnival Cruise Lines

Rather an odd response..' using Port days as a crutch to NOT drink the maximum you can '
Tbh I am amazed at how the moderate drinkers on here are attacked because they choose not to take advantage of the cheers package
We have been on a couple of Marella cruises , these cruises are all inclusive and surprisingly to me I found we didn't drink much at all
