  1. Thank you for your review - I am enjoying it very much. We will be on Oasis for the first time in May, taking our daughter and granddaughter. Cannot wait.

We had a very similar experience with lost luggage a few years ago. Because of weight issues they unloaded some of the luggage, and all of our pieces were included in that so cross packing didn't help. Sad to say I did not handle it anywhere near as well as you.

  2. I agree with others.

You need to decide your priority:

    Budget

    Location

    Blu

If location, it is CC and then EITHER splitting up dining in the MDR (glorified banquet food, but often with fun tablemates) and Specialty on a night by night basis OR the ultimate specialty package.

OR Splurge on the SS and get all of the above (Blu, Suite Restaurant, MDR when you want it, 2 specialty dinners, plus maybe a 3 - 5 dinner package and you'd have quite a bit of variety PLUS more more and a bathtub and butler.

OR if you really want Blu, then you're giving up location.

    Decisions, decision.

Please let us know what you decide.

    Happy sailing,

    Jenna

To be honest we will likely upgrade to a suite. Location is top priority but so is Blu. Thank you all for your input.

  3. Hi: We were recently on Equinox in Aqua class and loved it so much that we booked 14 days Southern Caribbean on Eclipse while onboard. Need cabin help please. As much as we enjoyed Aqua class we booked concierge for one reason only - location. I cannot tell you how much I love aft facing cabins and we cannot get that with Aqua class. Also have to tell you that DH is a chef and really enjoyed Blu so ... Our dilemma:

Love Aqua class, love perks, love love love Blu. Cost to upgrade to Sky suite is about $2000 but would give us access to Blu plus access to new suite restaurant. I know it is a great cost and one I do not take lightly but please keep in mind DH is a chef.

So my question is - aqua in an unfavorable location but perks and Blu vs concierge in prime location and within budget vs sky suite giving access to Blu and new suite restaurant- which would you choose?

I would truly appreciate your opinion. Thank you.

  4. We stopped by each day so DH could try a new beer and once, late in the cruise, we ordered food. I had the burger and DH had the bone marrow. We both thoroughly enjoyed it. Wish I had tried the burger earlier, it was delicious.

  5. Here's the image that was included in the other thread.

It blew up much better when I read it on my Smartphone so I was able to figure out some of it. It looks like

    Appetizers:

Can't figure out the first one, maybe polenta?

    House cured citrus salmon

    Green lentil soup

    Waldorf salad

    Entrees:

    Eggs Benedict

    Vanilla pancakes

Confit duck leg salad (? not positive about it being salad)

    Five spice crusted tuna

    Cheese tart

    Some sort of strip loin

    Desserts:

    Warm chocolate pudding

    Lemon tart

I'm going to be on Summit next month and just upgraded to AQ this week when the price dropped. I was planning on doing Bistro for lunch when we got on board but now we'll definitely do Blu instead.

Thank you for posting this. I have already made my choices !!

  6. And leaving the desk in tears, over a drink package.....?

I admit the agent was a dumb ass, and should have immediately found her supervisor or someone to take over, but crying over a beverage package?

And OP I hope at some point finds the Hotel Director to let them know what transpired as well.

I have pulled the old "I'm not leaving this counter until I'm satisfied" move myself, i have to admit. Usually that promote a supervisor to come.

I highly doubt the tears were over the actual drink package. More likely they were the result of rude and unacceptable treatment from guest relations, and a very disappointing and upsetting start to a much anticipated vacation.

  7. No food at Buza, an over-hyped and very expensive bar and total tourist trap. If you want to walk the entire wall, may I suggest you enter at the Ploce entrance and do the more difficult upward part first and then you will enjoy the sea side. The Ploce exit is closest to the cable car entrance and it is just a short upward walk to reach the entrance.

As for finding Buza, the best way is to google "how to find buza bar" and read the many posts, some with maps, which explain there are two and my personal choice is the first one with no railings.

There is no way that I can estimate how much cash you will need for lunch. Many, not all, restaurants will accept credit cards. However I do highly recommend that you do not order Croatian Kuna from your bank. Just use the many ATM machines you will find for cash. A beer at Buza will cost you 35 Kuna, any other bar it will be approximately 12 to 15 Kuna.

As for your ship shuttle bus, it will take you longer to reach the old part of town on the bus. Taxi is the fastest and easiest transportation into town, cost is 70 Kuna or 10 Euros and the main drop off point is the Pile entrance.

Buza is not close to the Pile area and you will understand once you see a map. It is well hidden and you must return to the main promenade to return to the Pile Brsalje are to catch the bus or taxi to the harbor. It is not a major walk or distance, but the maze of small streets which can confuse your direction.

Fantastic. Thank you very much, you have been an incredible help and I appreciate it. I found your blog - it is a great read. I'm already to settle in with a cup of tea to read on:)

  8. Hi Dubrovniktravelady:

We will be in your beautiful town early June and are taking a ship excursion called Dubrovnik on your own, which is basically just a bus into Old Town that drops you off and picks you up 7 hours later. We chose to do this over just grabbing a taxi or bus because we want to get to town ASAP. Our plan is to walk the walls first, end to end. Next take the cable car. By the time we finish that it should be time for lunch and after eating we would like to find buza bar (I understand they do not serve food at buza).

    A couple of questions please.

-We think we will be ok going to the Pile entrance to walk the walls since we will be there around 8:00 am and we are the only ship in that day. Do you agree or should we still head over to the Ploce entrance?

-After we walk the complete wall, where should we exit to walk to the cable car?

-After we exit the cable car, we want to head in the general direction of the buza bar, stopping for lunch and taking in the sights along the way. You have already recommended civapcici and dirty macaroni. Any other non-seafood suggestions? Which would be the best direction to head in?

-We will be taking some of your local currency with us but we don’t know how much we should plan on. Can you please give us a rough idea what a nice lunch would cost and how much a typical beer and cocktail would be?

-Approximately how far is the buza bar from where the shuttle buses drops off/picks up? How long will it take to walk? We really enjoy walking so the distance is not a problem at all for us, we just want to be sure we have enough time.

I apologize as I know you have answered these questions before but I have read so many pages here that my head is swimming. Thank you.

  9.

Nicer bags have leather-like handles and corners, and inside a smaller pouch that buttons to the inside, like a small pencil pouch that can hold money and such nicely made of a thicker nylon/vinyl type material.

I think the standard ones are more like simply printed fabric totes like grocery stores now sell for reuse.

Perfect, thanks. I appreciate the information on this and the pillow menu. I would not have thought to ask.

  10. [

the better quality concierge/aqua/suite carry bags only show up if you know enough to ask for them...otherwise you get cloth shopping bags.

    Things change ....

Can you please tell me what the nicer bags are like? We are sailing Celebrity for the first time next month in aqua and we do not know what to expect. Thank you.

  11. Sorry to ask a stupid question but I have never removed the prepaid tips and I'm curious. When you ask to have the tips removed, can you specify which ones? For example, if a person did not use the main dining room but ate at a specialty restaurant, buffet or had room service each night, could they request only the dining room tips be removed?
