Travel To Be Free

We have one day inbetween a land tour and our cruise starting in Athens. Which island would you recommend? Why? I'm having a harder time finding a nice hotel in Hydra, but I like the fact of no cars and just donkeys or walking. Sounds quaint.

We're on a land tour of Greece before our cruise starts, so we'll have spent 2 full days in Athens already. So we have a day after the land tour before the cruise starts. Is there a nice seaside resort or something interesting to do in and about Athens???

Is there a lot of difference between Oia and Fira? As we're there just one day I don't want to spend the whole day traveling, but soaking up the atmosphere. Just starting to do research. Is Oia more picturesque?

Have been to Dunns River Falls and Fern Gully. Now would like a pretty restaurant on beach for lunch. Any place near port??? Any resort that give day passes that has a beautiful beach?? Any other ideas???

I saw where taxi to front gate was around 10 euros. Does anyone know approximate charge to the Ploce Gate... Near the cable car?

Terry -- Thank you so much!!! Loved the pictures and this will help me out in our planning. I just didn't know if there were a lot of buildings/churches/palaces, etc., in the city that were worth exploring. The lunch spot looks incredible!! Do you know approximate fee for cable car up and down?

Daisy -- Someone said it was a way and to take a taxi there. Not sure of the price for the taxi for sure. I believe someone quoted a fee of around 10 euro.

What beach is in the pictures under post 305 and 306??

Hey.... you got me!!! Thanks for the reality check. My DH and I have just cracked up over this!!! Have only been to Barbados once and did the caves... always heard the beaches were beautiful and could not be missed. The best ones I've been to have had a lot of palms, so I guess that's what I've been searching for. Guess I'll let that go and experience "Barbados." :) Thanks for all the info!!

We're going to do the turtles at Payne Bay and then have been searching for a beach on the west/south coast that has a lot of palms and chair rentals. Needham's Point looks nice, but as it is Hilton's beachfront -- do they frown upon people using it? (We could always eat lunch at their restaurant...) Have also looked at Mullins/Gibbes on the West, as well as Worthing on the South. Do you know if any have a lot of palms--a more pretty beachfront than the actual water?
