  1. Well, I sleep better at night knowing I am helping to supplement their extremely low salaries. Take out office managers, and many of the rest make less than 1000.00 a month. Yes, RC should pay them better, but we would not have our nice cruises without them. https://shiplife.org/salaries/
  2. Glad to "hear" this. I like to think I have made their jobs a bit easier without hurting their pay. Same as when I tell the cabin attendant just towels and garbage please.
  3. I always pay in the auto-gratuities in advance too. I do not want anyone to lose out if I switched to only cash. My curiosity was perked by another thread where people said the company takes a cut and surveys can lower an employees tipped received. I prefer fact to guesses, so I asked.
  4. Yes. I do not remove tips even though I rarely eat in the dining room because I know that the same doing room staff work several positions on the ship. Also because I want some of my tips to go the people that I do not see but work hard for my whole experience.
  5. Thanks ! I enjoyed these tidbits from your link: "However, it’s not exact because, for example, there will be several people serving you in the dining room such as your main waiter, the wine waiter and the dining room receptionist. There are also waiters in speciality dining venues and crew members who work in the buffet." "The breakdown of gratuities is carefully worked out to be fair for all crew members. If you tip individuals instead, you may be doing a disservice to staff members who you haven’t met personally, such as the kitchen staff or cleaners." I am fine with tipping kitchen staff and cleaners.
  6. I did not mean to start this kind of a breakdown thread. I meant more about dining positions, as I rarely eat in the dining room. I am curious, but I do not need to know. I am glad that all tips go to crew and that they are not jipped because of bad or no surveys. I don't know how tips are distributed by position anywhere I tip at home either.
  7. Me too, but I did not get that. There is a post on redit and another cruise info site for crew wages. A lot of normally non- tipped positions are paid very little, so I am ok if some of my money goes there.
  8. Yes. Scoot Around 1-888-441-7575 107.00 for a knee scooter ( which I def recommend as the best option!) plus 30.00 if you want cancellation insurance, good as of last week for 1/7 Wonder sailing, 7 day . Price was held only for the day. Special needs at C 1-800-513-4515 105.00 and 50.00 cancellation fee 8 days out, then no refunds. Sam pricing conditions as above. Prices like a cruise or airline... only good at the time? I thought that was weird.
  9. Nope, which is why I replied with 2 more very direct yes/no questions. The second answer is what satisfies me. ""Thank you for the email reply. 100% of all gratuities are distributed to the crew. Surveys do not impact gratuities distribution.". I may prefer a better breakdown, but at least I know that the company does not take a cut and a bad or no survey does not effect distribution.
  10. First questions and answer: "How are the gratuities we pay with auto-gratuities divided among the dining team if we do not eat in the main dining room at all ? Do 100% of the gratuities still go to the dining team? If we do eat in the dining room each night, do 100% of the auto- gratuities go to the dining team that served us? Do 100% of the cabin steward auto-gratuities go to the cabin steward for our cabin?" "Thank you for choosing Royal and sailing on the Wonder Of The Seas. Please be advised that gratuities are distributed to the crew, such as dining, bar, and culinary services staff, stateroom attendants, other hotel services teams, and others who work to enhance the overall cruise experience." I was not satisfied, so I replied with : "Do 100% of the gratuities go to the crew? Do surveys effect gratuities received? " "Thank you for the email reply. 100% of all gratuities are distributed to the crew. Surveys do not impact gratuities distribution." I imagine it would be a bad idea to lie in writing signed by a member of the executive office. I choose to believe that I am being told the truth.
  11. Other than some great special stage effects, the violinist, and the acrobats, I did not find in interesting and I could not follow the story. I would expect kids to be very bored.
  12. ABC - more unique places to see and less likely to always be available when you want to cruise.
  13. If you don't want to pack the duct tape, your cabin steward will tape it down. Ours have always done it without being asked, during a room clean
  14. I wondered if I would have trouble going back to an indoor after having balconies. My last cruise was back to an indoor and I was fine. It was just as comfortable a feeling to be in as the balconies. I enjoyed the terrace rooftop and constellation lounge for outdoor or wide window space.
  15. I often think the same thing. We were on an inside on Infinity in. Sept. I don’t think that will help you out much with the newer ships. But we were happy and would book it again.
  16. This is what we did. We did a sail excursion and they arranged for a taxi to bring us to them from Port where we got off ship.
  17. I did not notice any small quiet places lounges, but I was very happy with the peace and quiet in the places I mentioned. I very easily may have just walked by smaller quiet places because I looked for quiet places where you could see the ocean. Unless you have not cruised b4, the ship is small.
  18. Sept. Was hot and busy and everyone kept telling us how cool and empty it was compared to august.
  19. Is this near the Beach Club? The description and videos do not show it. They just show a sit down restaurant , seated by reservation, with food that looks fancy, even to or better than the specialty restaurants.
  20. To the vegan poster- the following link has a video that shows the menu and a lot of the food. https://www.google.com/search?q=royal+caribbean+cococay+beach+club&rlz=1C1CHBF_enUS885US885&oq=royal+carribean+coco+cay+&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUqCQgHEAAYChiABDIGCAAQRRg5MgkIARAAGAoYgAQyCQgCEAAYChiABDIJCAMQABgKGIAEMgkIBBAAGAoYgAQyCQgFEAAYChiABDIJCAYQABgKGIAEMgkIBxAAGAoYgAQyCQgIEAAYChiABDIJCAkQABgKGIAE0gEKMjA5MzJqMWoxNagCALACAA&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#fpstate=ive&vld=cid:8a3d4bd8,vid:MiQ2-_9h0a0,st:0
