  1. Zero. I'm a pathologically generous tipper everywhere I go. But once the cruise industry decided to automatically include tips, I took the hint. They don't want me to tip any more than they have automatically taken out. No one gets anything.

Sad, they used to get a couple hundred more out of me every cruise. Oh well, at least I have that to use for other things now!

I agree, I prepay the gratuity and that's $18% and that it!. I know why they do it (it's been discussed before). The US is a tipping country and most of the world isn't. They (staff) make the majority of there pay from tips and a lot of cultures don't tip. So they started the 18% added gratuity for everything which I get but with that I don't tip anymore and it's not because I'm some heartless person it's because I'm being forced to tip 18% which is what I would usually tip anyway. You can always tip more and that's totally up to you.
  2. 75 is a very nice temperature ....

We always keep the balcony door open at night....that is the best part of having a balcony keeping the door open at night!

Our room never gets warmer than 75 that way....but we do not sail during the summer season.

FYI, you're effecting the AC in the cabins next to you because it's working harder to cool your room so it's drawing down AC from the rooms around you. The Hydronic balancing system in newer ships needs to maintain positive pressure in your cabin to keep it cool. Notice when you open your balcony door that rush of cold air that blows out? I'm surprised that the ships security hasen't visited you because your balcony being open all night would trigger a pressure alarm in the HVAC monitoring panel or people in nearby cabins calling about "why is it so hot in my cabin".
  3. It's all about cost. It's way cheaper to stock a smaller amount of beer brand varieties that most people drink than a large variety of smaller brands that some people won't buy. Not everyone is fond of IPA's. I like what Carnival did with the onboard micro brewery. I think that will be a big success for them. The whole gimmick of being brewed onboard is a great idea and RCI might want to take a look at that. Here's a good story on it and again RCI needs to take notice! https://www.craftbeer.com/featured-brewery/red-frog-cruise-ship-craft-brewery

  4. Johnny Rockets was $9.95 on Majesty last week.:eek::eek:
JR's is absolutely not worth that. At least on Carnival they have Guys Burgers which are supposed to be really good and..FREE...Royal really needs to have a free walk up like Guys and ditch JR's all together. Buy if people are willing to pay for it they won't change it.
  5. Someone posted on the Grandeur FB page, that the Grandeur has been confirmed to retire on April 4.2020. I know there have been prior rumors, but this seems to be official. Anyone here heard the same yet?
So what you're actually saying is Pullmantur is getting a new ship!!
  6. Why? Because everything should revolve around Americans?
Not sure if you're aware that English is the #2 language spoke WORLD WIDE not just in America. American is not a language but hey, you're a smart RN I'm sure you know that. ;)
  7. Franky, your first stop when you landed should have been the hospital not Margaretaville. You said that your husband had a heart attack and now you're exhibited classic signs of having a heart attack and decided to blow it off? You're health is way more important than a cruise and I would suggest that anyone who exhibits signs of a heart attack get your @ss to the hospital immediately!!

  8. I never had it go that far, but I'm not surprised.
Last time I did it the guy paddled up to my wave runner, holds onto the side and tried to sell me stuff and I told him don't have money, he said he'll write me a ticket and pay the guy on the dock when I got back. It's that bad.
  9. I didn't do it my last time there, but I did have this when we did the Waverunner on a previous visit. It wasn't that bad, I did rent a locker and left my wallet there, so I couldn't have bought if I wanted to. It wasn't that bad, you have to wait anyway for all the riders to regroup.
You don't even need cash, they will give you whatever trinket they have and write you a receipt for say $5.00 and to pay Robert on the wave runner dock. This is the only place I've done a wave runner excursion in the Caribbean that vendors paddled out to you and tried to sell stuff.
  10. Question, last time I took the wave runner excursion in Labadee we stopped at one point and what I would only describe as the Labadee Navy rushed out to us in paddle boats to try and sell us stuff! I found this tacky and not acceptable that RCI would have this as part of the excursion. Is this still happening? This was like 4 years ago.

    Thanks!

  11. I agree completely....I have always (25+ cruises) booked directly with RCI....I can't imagine them ever making it "mandatory" to use a TA or vacation planner...absolutely no reason to do this...many of us book directly with an RCI CSR on the phone. You get the "control" issue....many don't or don't want to....their choice just like it's our's.
Nobody said they would make it "mandatory".
