  1. I don't like it!

On our most recent cruise, just after boarding I stopped at Starbuck's and bought a can of diet coke. Later that day, went to do the 2 for 1 beer coupon and was told I'd already used it. Guess it automatically was applied when I bought the coke and I wasn't informed, nor given my 2nd 'free' coke.

Also, I do the shopping, not my husband. So to apply his coupons, he had to be there. Didn't bother getting my 2nd free photo because of this. Dragging him along to do the internet wasn't his idea of fun either.

Wish they could just put them all on one card if requested.

  2. Hi all...I don't want to clog the board with a bunch of questions, so I'll just ask all together.

    1. We are in an owner's suite. It is our first time in a "true" suite as we normally do junior suites. I understand that we can order from the MDR menu. How does this work? Do they bring it in courses as if you were in the restaurant? Or all at once?

    2. We have family staying across the hall. Can we order from the MDR for them and have us all eat in our room?

    3. One of our party is another room and I want to set him up as a cash account so that he can't spend from the other person's credit card. How do I do that and what is the cash deposit required?

    4. Can you bring a family member into the diamond lounge who is not in your room? One of them lives at the same address (brother) and one doesn't (son).

    1. They bring it all at once. Its covered to keep it warm and we never had a problem with it.

    2. I don't know. Possibly. As long as you place the entire order and its not too many more people. I really have no idea.

    3. ?

    4. I think all family members at the same address get the same status.

  3. Just got off Allure and I noticed a change in the policy.

We've always dined in specialty restaurants on formal night to avoid fancy dress as well, but this time I noticed in the cruise compass a notation that formal dress guidelines applied in specialty restaurants as well!

Since we'd already booked and just had 'smart casual' packed--I went down to talk to staff a few days ahead. They told me that 'smart casual' would be more than acceptable and sure enough, when we arrived, we were the norm. Of course, a few people were dressed up, but we didn't feel out of place.

  4. For the last year we've been taking our own bags off. We don't leave @ 7am with the self debarkation people--we take our time and leave at the end so as not to hold anyone up. We're fit and able to manage our own bags and don't slow down the process anyway--but I can see how if everyone did this, it would be disastrous. The reason we do it? Royal lost our luggage one year. Don't want to go thru that again.

  5. Often we have no choice, but for us it's not so much about the "germs" its just starting off the week without icky TV remotes and telephone handsets. Ever get a rental car with an icky, sticky steering wheel, or that grocery cart that the kiddo was slobbering all over?

Just looking to start off with "clean" not necessarily sterile stuff.

Thank you! that's exactly how I feel. On our latest Allure cruise I was shocked at the black filth on top of the t.v., on top of light switches, etc. Of our 15 cruises, I'd say this was the dirtiest and smelliest (stale, moldy smell) room we've ever encountered. My sister in the stateroom next to us had the same complaint. Couldn't help but notice our attendent spent most of his time on the phone and didn't vacuum once.

The worst was the telephone. Disgusting. I give everything the once over when I unpack, but don't obsess over it for the rest of the week. It helps me relax. :)

  6. I bring my own pillow AND blanket

I am really picky about my bedding (like custom make my pillow cases) and I pack pretty light otherwise so it has always been worth it to me (so much more comfort!) to bring my own stuff if I can. If I'm spending X amount of dollars to enjoy my vacation I want to sleep as comfortably as possible too.

My sista from another mista! :D Me too. I was just discussing this with visiting family and they looked at me like I was insane. I did this on the last cruise and slept soooo well. I just bring a light 'airplane' type blanket and sleep with that instead of the sheets on the ship. Much cosier and I feel comfortable sleeping with the blanket right by my face. I also bring my own gel pillow due to neck issues. I take along a green garbage bag and every morning I put my pillow and blanket in it so they don't get misplaced or worse, thrown on the floor, by room attendants.

  7. Glad we're not the only ones. We were in a suite on FOS in December and didn't like Willie one bit. He had a major attitude. I had to call guest services on our return to get credits applied that he never bothered following thru on despite a number of reminders on our part. He seemed snobby and lazy.

We had Carolina in the Diamond lounge on Oasis this month and she was terrific.
