  1. Hi, thanks for the upcoming review. Not going on this itinerary (Southern Caribbean) but going on the Serenade. I haven't found as much on here about her. So I will follow along for info on the ship and would be interested in hearing about your specific itinerary also.

If you can post any pics of drink menus with prices, that would be wonderful!!!

    Have an amazing trip!!! :D

  2. Going on a different ship, wondering if mine will have this excursion. Is the exact name called Beach Hop and Turtle Snorkel?

Never mind. I just realized you are going Carnival and I am going Royal this time. Thanks anyway. LOL

    Thank you

  3. Thank you, Mary. I can't believe we will be on the same cruise. Have you eaten at any of the specialty restaurants on Serenade?

My husband and I will also be sailing on Serenade Dec 10 and I also have Celiac. Have had great experience with Royal and eating Gluten Free. Sailed Serenade a couple of years ago and never went hungry. I always bring some protein bars and some pre packaged snacks as I love my sweets.

  4. Your dining room waiter should suggest preordering for the subsequent evening. You will be able to choose specific gluten free items from the menu. My personal experience is that choices are limited, but I am celiac and also somewhat of a foodie.

It is possible to eat successfully in the Windjammer. You may request that the chef point out reliably gluten free food. Generally the chef walks me around the various serving islands and buffet lines, pointing out which foods I can safely eat. (the chef, not serving staff or kitchen staff.) On several occasions the chef has ordered grilled fish prepared specifically gluten free (grilled fish in the buffet usually has a very fine dusting of flour.)

Gluten free toast is prepared in a dedicated toaster. Sometimes you have to wait, but staff is prepared to make the special toast.

Bring patience. Staff are busy. Sometimes there is a wait. Sometimes others will be served before you. Be careful of cross contamination.

I did a recent transatlantic on the Serenade and had no trouble adhering to a strict gluten free diet.

Thank you for your input. I appreciate it. I'm excited to try Royal this time!

  5. I am gluten free and have Celiac's so can't tolerate cross contamination. I've had many issues on the ships but have to commend the Serenade of the Seas for really stepping up and providing wonderful entrees for all of us GF customers. Their breads, deserts and entrees are truly wonderful. I also had a good experience on the Jewel and Oasis!

    Colorado Babe,

Would you be able to give me more details of your experiences and where you ate on the Serenade? I have Celiac also and we are going in December. Thanks in advance!! :D

  6. Hi, I'm going on the Serenade for 11 days in December. We have cruised many times but this is our first time on Royal. I have heard Royal is fantastic with special diets. I have Celiac and need to eat Gluten Free.

Can anyone tell me of any experiences with GF on Serenade and if you ate in any of the specialty restaurants.

Thanks in advance!! Looking forward to our first Royal cruise!!!

  7. I wouldn't say we disliked them, but we definitely had nothing in common. We were 25 and on our Honeymoon and they were 4 couples that were friends, were cruising together and they were all in their 60's!!!! No offense to them, but we were definitely not the right fit. We tried to switch tables but they had nothing else available. Needless to say, it was a bit awkward.

This was way before MTD was available. But it worked out ok and they even gave us their contact info and told us to visit them if we ever made it to San Francisco. You just have to make the best of it. But I definitely wouldn't want to be with anyone who is rude or racist. That would not be tolerable!

  8. I'm excited to write it! I've written a bunch of cruise reviews, but I've never tackled a Disney review. It'll be a learning process ;)

Thanks! But credit for those go to Stephanie because she found them. We never have a problem finding our luggage in the terminal anymore! They stick out like a sore thumb ;)

    Sorry I didn't :(

We never went to Disney when we were little (the first time I went was on a choir trip when I was 14) and Mom laments over it constantly so she takes us a lot now that we're adults. We usually do really short stays before or after cruises (we did two weeks back in 2001 and it was WAYYY too long), but last year we did six days and this year, we'll be there for an entire week! Disney had a great promotion going on and we couldn't pass it up. If they didn't offer it, we likely would have skipped Disney this year and just would have done a short visit when we do the Dream next year since it'll be out of Orlando.

Thanks anyway, Nicole. I knew it was a long shot. Have a great time in Disney. Say Hi to Mickey and the gang for us!:D

  9. Nicole,

I know you don't have any kids, but did you by chance grab any club O2 or Circle C capers? Thought maybe just for you to put up on your blog? LOL Just wishful thinking. I will subscribe to your blog to read your disney review, also. Even though we have been to Disney 5 times, in between cruises, My DD wants to go again! We usually go in between cruises. One year disney or some other big parks, one year cruise. This year, only a couple days in Busch Gardens,Va. So I'm going through withdrawal for a REAL vacation that lasts a week and not just a couple of days. Next year is already going to be a cruise year, so maybe 2011 will be Disney again. We'll see. Can't wait to read your last installment. Thanks again. It has been awesome to read. Makes me more and more excited for next year!:D

  10. I can answer that.. it is a Miami Vice and is half Pina Colada and half Strawberry Daiquri. Excellent drink

Nicole or anyone who could answer. Do you know what is exactly in a strawberry daiquri? I have food allergies and can only drink certain alcohol, no beer at all. I can drink pina colada and straw. margarita. Just wondering what differs the daiquiri from the margarita. Sorry I'm not really up on all of the different mixers and liquors and drinks. It looks so yummy and I would like to try it on our next cruise if I can. Thanks so much!

  11. Nicole,

What was that yummy frozen drink you had at the legends show on the last night? Was that strawberry/something? Can't wait for that chocolate buffet. I can't believe your review is almost over. We don't want it to end!!! Thanks.:)

Sorry, I just posted after reading review. Didn't see anyone else replied after that before I replied.
