  1. I haven't been yet (Jan 2019), but from what I have been able to glean, Deck 3 has The Grande & Chic, and those are reserved for people who have the scheduled (ie early or late seating) dinner times.

Deck 4 has American Icon & Silk, which are for MTD.

When I booked for January, I chose MTD, which means our party will go to one of the 2 restaurants on Deck 4.

Now, I'll complicate things a bit. Just got off Anthem. We had MTD booked with reservations for various times between 5:45 and 6:15. We checked-in on the 'reservations' line on Deck 4. Several times we were led down to Deck 3 to eat in either Grande or Chic. The explanation given was if the people with the standing 5:30 Early Seating don't show-up within 15 minutes, their table is given to MTD passenger overflow. During our 9 night voyage, we dined in each of the 4 dining rooms. Nice.

    5. Does the room have a doorbell for the Royal Genie to use, or do they just walk in after knocking? We have a 2-story room, so I am not sure if we would hear a knock all the time. Once had a butler on the NCL Pearl that seemed to have an aversion to the doorbell and would just walk into our room whenever, and was not bothered at all the time he came in with the afternoon snacks as I was standing in the room in only my underwear. I, however, was bothered! Prefer to avoid that on RCCL.

So let me see if I understand this...your butler on another line would continually walk into your cabin unannounced and would catch you in your underwear. You were 'bothered'. Did it ever cross your mind to put an immediate end to this situation after the first occurrence? You DO have a say in this matter, you know.:rolleyes:

  3. Use of a hashtag in social media is done for a specific purpose (so that people posting about the same issue, for example, #metoo or #selfie, can congregate in the same place to see other posts about the issue or selfie pictures as the case may be). Cruise critic is odd place to use a hashtag - she could simply refer to her son as "the boy", without the hashtag.

Never underestimate the power of the #wannabecoolmom factor

  4. Welcome to Cruise Critic.

I don't care that you took advantage and smuggled booze on board, but why brag about it? You could've left it by saying you brought wine. We wouldn't have been the wiser. Does the fact MANY people do it make it okay? But, good for you - you stuck it to the man!

As far as the wifi communications and texting, that is a bug on Quantum ships and may be gone tomorrow. Glad you enjoyed it while you could.

I don't know what more you expected of your room attendant. They make-up the room, change towels and provide ice. Did you not get any towel animals?

Chops offers two different filets along with a rib-eye selection and a NY Strip. I'm confused that you were disappointed in only one? beef choice.

Sorry you felt you 'rushed' with only two days in port. It is not, as you say, the 'nature of a cruise'. It's the nature of a 5-night Bermuda. Did you not realize this when you booked this itinerary? It shouldn't have been a surprise.

Anthem requires a bit of planning. You claimed to have learned about the 'booze thing' by reading these boards. Perhaps you could've learned about booking shows and activities here as well.

Lastly, I'm sorry your departure was a s-show. You indicate it 'should have and could have been managed better.' I do hope you offer your solution on the survey.

  5. We fell 'victim' to that as well. A call to customer service pointed us in the right direction. However, this has got to be the lamest place anyone could put that information. Why can't it be where everyone seems to expect it...in the calendar! That's where it belongs especially since all other reservations for shows and activities appear in that section. Doing so sure would save a lot of phone calls:confused:

  6. I'm looking at the RCI Great Bay Beach excursion. It's $29 and I figure we could do it for a lot less on our own. Has anyone visited the beach? What can we expect as far as a nice beach day and accommodations? We are accustomed to a day at Orient Beach. How does Great Bay compare? What is the recommended mode of transportation? Water taxi? Where can we pick this up? Any idea as to chair and umbrella rental? Good spots for lunch and drinks?

Thanks everyone. We are trying to help the St Maartin economy.

  7. On our September cruise from Vancouver to Hawaii on the Radiance the concierge was walking around checking everyone's sea passes every night. We expected that on the first night and even the second night but every night? One of the waiters told us on the last cruise someone was bringing several non diamond member in every night so it was decided that everyone's sea pass would be checked every night.

Several people including us were not happy about this. On the third night of checking our party of 4 stuck our sea passes on our foreheads. The HD asked us what we were doing and we explained this way the concierge could easily check our sea passes and see we were diamond. The checking of the sea passes stopped then and there.

Yes we were "those people " but everyone, including the concierge, were much happier after that. Yes, there were some people who wouldn't talk to us but several people thanked us after the fact.

If you ask me, it sounds like pretty obnoxious and 'entitled' behavior. Childish, actually. Checking for crashers is for your own benefit and the preservation of the loyalty program. Continued abuse of what we have rightfully earned, could one day result in the program being changed or ended. I see nothing wrong with being asked for my sea pass card. I have nothing to hide, and if it results in some buffoons being tossed from The Club, then so be it!

  8. I seem to have noticed they sail past the Statue on NE sailings and on charters. In listening to the chatter between Vessel Traffic and the pilot that day, it seems they were taking promotional pictures with the ship and fire boats. I'm sure it makes for a nice print ad with the Anthem (NorthStar extended) and fire boats against the background of the Statue of Liberty and lower Manhattan.

  9. We passed on cabins located on that deck for two reasons. First was the possibility of noise from the pool deck. But I think what swayed us the most was the fact that there is a large overhang from the deck above. It obstructs the immediate sky view looking up from your balcony. You would have to look out past the overhang to view the sky above. There are also steel struts that connect the overhang to the deck below which could potentially obstruct the view even further.

  10. Don't stress, you know medically that is not good for you! :p

Dinning is very easy, you do rotate among the different MDRs. Your servers rotate with you. Depending on your seating time it works for you. We normally do not do the MDR but on Anthem, while we cruised the Western Med, we tried it and it worked very well. It is like any other ship for the MDR but you rotate. Once it is communicated where you start the rotation is natural. You will love the ship. Have a great cruise.

Fake news! LOL. It's a shame. We really enjoyed the rotation and thought it worked very well.
