  1. To actually answer the OP's question- Yes you can order beer from room service (but they would be individually priced) and they would be charged to the S&S card not affecting the cheers number. Just like you could take them out of the mini fridge (when they still did that) and would not count.

  2. Just a note: The driver of the shuttle is only paid by gratuities and has to pay the $5 fee to enter the port every time he drops off and picks up. He is sub-contractor. That is how parking fees are so low. So take care of him. (He even went back when my DW realized she left paperwork in car).

  3. So we were going to use the port for parking and my wife heard about a veteran's lot. We decided to try since they give 10% of all proceeds to paying off mortgages for vets. Well just parked and I must say so gar so good. They are VERY nice. It is a fenced in open gravel lot and you keep you keys. Is only 10 min ride away from port. They have cameras and live 2 min away. They offered a water and have a bathroom plus covered waiting with 6 chairs. It was only $52 for our 7 day! You just text when off ship on return. I will update on return from my cruise on Magic next week.

  4. If you are playing in the tournament, I was wondering what you think your chances are of winning one of the 50 prizes ranging from $50,000 to the lowest prize of $150. I figure if there are 1,000 participants, then the odds are 1 in 20 (1,000/50). That's not bad if you compare it to the state lotteries. Don't get any ideas, however, if you have not already won a seat because the cost is $500 to now buy an entry. If I am wrong and there are 500 entries then the odds would be even better or 1 in 10.

To be eligible for a seat, you would have to have won either first or second place during slot tournaments held on the Carnival ships for 6 months which will end this month or buy the $500 ticket. You also have to purchase a discounted cruise on the Carnival Magic which will sail May 7, 2016. The final grand tournament will be held at the end of that cruise.

Was any else reviewing the odds? Have I missed some thing?

I believe there were about 320 participants in last years finals for the slots.

  5. Always like to munch on pretzels, nuts, etc at bar while drinking....Are these available on Carnival? If they aren't out, can we request?

No with the exception of the EA sports bar where you can purchase some packaged things. Bring your own to enjoy. They would never have anything out for general public since it would be a health nightmare with all the fingers in them.

  6. Sounds like you already booked Carnival - for others concerned with drinking costs, price compare what Carnival costs with and without Cheers to some of the other lines free drinking packages. You may be surprised at the savings!

If you mean savings on Carnival then yes. The 'free' drink package you can choose on other lines cost way more in the room charges. Each time I get the NCL offers I look at them but CCL is always much cheaper even when I add Cheers in. There are always an exception or two.

  7. Never been on RCC only other was NCL. From that and what I have read there are more similarities than differences. It is just the type of execution each line does in a particular area. RCC seems to be more of an attraction/amusement destination while CCL is more 'traditional' style mixed with newer attractions. Also the service still seems to be a more constant and better with CCL than the others overall. Food will be hit or miss depending on taste just like RCC but overall will be very good which I would assume id like RCC. I do not know about RCC but there are things like Free 24 hour ice cream (soft serve), Pizza/Caesar Salads, and Room Service. No extra for Guy's Burgers, Blue Iguana cantina, and fish and chips station. The Cheers program is good for any adult beverage up to $10 and is limited to 15 from 6p-6a. The main dining is best for Brunch and dinners. The specialty dining is really worth the charges generally. Rooms are generally bigger than all the competitors. Have to buy water now if you want it on board (2.99 /12 pk) in the online 'shop' to be in the state room before you get there as you can no longer bring with you unless they are in cans. Can bring 1 750ml bottle wine per adult, one 12pk soda per adult. Bottles of liquor can be purchased to be in stateroom before boarding or through room service at about $65-$85/ 1 liter bottle. There is a small list....

  8. Love love love the fantasy ships! Our first cruise was the Miracle when she was first put in service. Second was honeymoon cruise on the Fantasy. Then we did 3 Fascination cruises. Since we did 2 Glory. The layout it similar between the conquest and Fantasy- just more rooms and smaller walk ways on the conquest. I really like the Lido deck on Fantasy Class! They are much bigger in main area than any ship. It made for really good deck parties! Easy to get around and wider walking areas. The service is great on all CCL ships I have been on but the 2 Fascination and 1 Fantasy were steller- only my Glory in Jan beat any of those. It just has an overall better feel. Maybe because there are less people. Sure we are smaller in ports but the bigger they are the more you can feel like a number on all those other Mega cruise liners out there. :D

  9. Did her in January then again in Aug with the kids. Best cruise ever that we had had to date was our Jan cruise on her! We can not wait to go back this Jan. Make sure to see David in the EA Sports Bar! Also Imre in the dinning room was very good. If Igor is back he will be in the Bar Blue (the cigar/smoking bar if you smoke) and is awesome!

  10. I believe the upgrades are the Guy's, Blue Iguana Cantina and tequila bar, Alchemy bar, DJ Irie ,and the smaller Red Frog. It had the big screen, Punchliner's, and Serenity in 2011. I will have to find where that link is again- there was a press release about it getting extensive 2.0 upgrades. It will also change the pool configurations (just look at the Glory for layout).

  11. Have a family of 7 of us going this Aug. Will be kids 12,13, 16, 17, 18 with Mom and Dad. Are there any inexpensive options out there to do for us? A beach is fine. Unfortunately due to unexpected events need to find budget things to do this trip. Any help appreciated as a port we have not been to yet.

  12. On the the Glory in Jan we had a blast in the party! The CD made the difference along with the band and dancers. It was fun and funny. We then got to see the video and got to see the commercials for the Super Bowl (I still can not believe the one shown was not one we could vote on!).

Though we always have fun on a cruise what ever they have and we do! We definitely do not have super high expectations like we see so many have in their reviews. What they do for so many people is simply amazing to us compared to any other service in the industry! SO we do not feel entitled even though we now have to do way many more cruises than the platinum cruisers had to before under the old program to get to the platinum level. :D

  13. Casino bar (which was definitely very smokey around it and I was surprised they had the bands playing there with all the smoke at that location) and the one half of the casino (only half is smoking)was definitely smokey as well as the Blue bar (which is a smoking area enclosed and separate from the rest of the ship and 6 large smoke eaters ), but it was the same on NCL when we were there in the casino (and we could smoke on the balcony then too) and probably the same on all the others. They do enforce smoking on balconies as many can attest to in the fines levied but certainly are not going to catch them all (on ANY ship). It is an exaggeration to say the ship reeks of smoke! My wife smokes I do not but I go to the areas she does when she smokes- otherwise the rest of the ship had no evidence of smoke.

  14. Match play has been discontinued on several, if not most ships.

Where did you get this? Everyone that I have seen post about this says they did it on last cruise up to Oct cruised. We did it on the Fascination in Aug. though we did have to ask about it as there were no signs or anything. I would find it odd that Carnival would have it on some ships yet not others.

  15. Didn't go on her out of SC but we did sail her in 2008 for our honeymoon. LOVED her! You can tell she is dated but how they can keep up on things to keep it in such fine shape is beyond me. Since then they did upgrade her with new carpet, TV's, serenity, water park, and other things which was just like the Fascination which we were on last 2 years and it is also AWESOME! We love the smaller ship (not that 70,000 tons is small :D)- not crowded, easy to get around , and the service is top notch. Have a great time!

  16. Please tell me about how match play and cheers work together. I'm a little fuzzy on match play to begin with.

Apparently if I buy a drink I can play free at the casino? So if I have cheers is that still buying a drink? How does this work? It kind of sounds to good to be true from what I've put together. Someone give me the straight goods.

When you get the classic cocktails you receive a $5 Free Play for even money bets. Yes it works with Cheers, just be sure to get the receipt to take to the cashier. Good way to lower the Cheers cost!

  17. This will be one of the quietest seasons of the year on record. The best chance of landfall hurricanes are actually going to form in the Caribbean/Gulf and hit the East coast. Most hurricanes that form in the Atlantic off Africa do not make it to the US, but can affect the islands ships go to.
