  1. My dh and I are sailing on the Edge July 24 and we got an updated email this morning.  It sounds to me as if they are only accepting unvaccinated children under 16, not adults.  They have removed any mention of adults paying for testing or wearing masks.  This is the relevant part of the e-mail.  What does it look like to you?

    VACCINATION POLICY
Following CDC guidelines we will sail with all crew vaccinated and at least 95% of guests will be fully vaccinated.
All guests 16 years and older must be fully vaccinated with all COVID-19 vaccine doses administered at least 14 days prior to sailing. As of August 1, 2021, all guests age 12 and older must be fully vaccinated.

Curious your take on the MX pharmacies since you are a local now...

That was NOT me who spoke about the pharmacies.  I use Mexican pharmacies for all my medication needs.  I only spoke about the laws in certain Mexican states regarding mandatory mask-wearing.  I believe it was the OP who distrusted the Mexican pharmacies.  We like being able to get many of our formerly prescription meds without a prescription in our chosen locale.  And I pay less for them than the co-pays I had to pay in the US.

I also wonder why that is as well. Inside stores, yes masks on, but walking around outside?

Mask wearing is mandated for Costa Maya by the state of Quintana Roo.  It is a statewide mandate.  I live in the state of Jalisco.  Mask wearing, even outdoors, is mandated in Jalisco as well.

  4. Wow, Celebrity has some real explaining to do.  This is outrageous!  And it is about the worst public relations I can imagine.  If there were a government requirement Celebrity had to follow they should be upfront about the issue.  Someone who books B2B2B is a loyal customer. I will be watching how Celebrity handles this before I book another Celebrity cruise.  We are going B2B on the Edge on July 24.  Will they be tossing B2B customers next?  Celebrity has to have a very good reason to do something like this.  The least they can do is share the reason.  I certainly hope Celebrity goes all out to make those affected “whole” again.  Not just a refund of the cruise they are denied.

We are sailing on the Edge on the 24th and just received in email stating check in time "none". Has anyone else received this?

Did you select a time when you did your online check-in?  You might want to ask this on the roll call for the 24th.  I answered because I am also going on that sailing.

So I was looking at a booking on Edge in August and "Simply Sail" was an option on a suite guarantee.  If this is booked do the normal suite perks still apply?

No, the suite perks would not apply with Simply Sail other than the Retreat Lounge and eating at Luminae.  You would still pay for drinks, tips and WiFi

Separate. When you pass by the security guard stationed in the middle of the road at terminal 25 and the bow of the ship, stay to the right and pull up to the blue signs at the curb "PRIORITY". The amazing porter yelled at me not to touch my bags, that my vacation has started and she will handle the luggage. We did not have any luggage tags which she had an abundance dripping from her pocket.

Thank you for the helpful info!  We will be sure to go to the Priority sign.

It is so nice see all the familiar names.     I have not been on in about a  year.   Covid depression forced me to discontinue reading all the disappointments of cruises cancelled.

We have been waiting to hear how things work out on the first cruises before committing ourselves.      We had about 12 cruises cancelled and is still a mess of what credits were applied and where.    I'll have to call in to Celebrity after the Holiday and see if they can run a report for me.

For now I transferred some South American Cruises for 2022 to a B2B2B on Silhouette TA and the next two cruises for March of 2022.   It is incredible how fast the addiction takes over again.      I'm sure we will cruise before then but currently in a wait and see mode.   I'm really enjoying the live posts that are popping up this week, they really help to alley fears of hitting the seas again soon.

We are both vaccinated and luckily our county in California is at a 85% vaccination rate so feeling safe enough to stop wearing a mask both inside and out.   I always keep some on hand just in case.

    Hi Jim!

Our best to you and Iain!

We were in the suite next to yours on the Millennium TA WB in Dec 2007.

Always love reading your posts!  We too had so many cruises canceled we are also making up for lost time!

Would you be more specific about the drinks? I know the Celebrity basic (Classic?) beverage package excludes soda, water and specialty coffees. Is that what you meant? I agree with everything you said about Princess. We have sailed more on that line that anyone else for a variety of reasons. However, we have sailed on Celeb maybe 6 times and enjoyed every one of those cruises. Let's face it....ever had a bad cruise?😉

    Doug

Princess charges less for their drinks and therefore the dollar amount over for a premium drink would be less.  Plus the gratuity on Princess is 15% where it is 20% on Celebrity.

Good evening all, I’m fairly stuffed and the vino was flowing at Chef’s Table.  Have an excursion in the morning.  Will catch-up with y’all tomorrow afternoon. Cheers late from the Edge!

Buenos Noches!  Enjoy a well-deserved rest.  Tomorrow please tell us about the Chef’s Table.  We have it booked on our upcoming July 24th cruise on the Edge and are very excited.  Thank you so much for all your info.  Enjoy your cruise!

  11. I love both lines but I have to say drinks are a much better value on Princess. The Ft. Lauderdale airport is much closer to Port Everglades than the Miami airport is to the Port off Miami.  Princess seems to offer more exotic and longer itineraries, which is fun.  Though if you want a week in the Caribbean with specialty dining Celebrity is great.  I do love the Medallion on Princess for seamless cruising though.

  12. Can you post later please as to whether there is a dedicated suite check-in line at the terminal?  Thank you so much!  Born Voyage!  We are watching with great anticipation as we are sailing Edge on July 24 B2B.
