  1. Usually 6 am to 10 pm.

Less busy time? I couldn't venture a guess because I'm sure it varies by itinerary, but we like to go late afternoon and it is fairly quiet. Like when the early dinner crowd would be getting ready for dinner.

  2. The difference is the ships get into Miami at 6 am. To get things cleared and people start moving off before 8 sometimes. The ship is clear to onboard the next.

For Pride, sometimes she doesn't dock until 9. Has to clear and start getting folks off. I've still be sitting waiting to debark at 12:45. How are you going to bring new passengers on at 11?

  3. To me, Dream was the most crowded feeling ship we have been on. Breeze was so much better even though same class. Not sure what the difference was. Different set up on lido? More food options, so not every single person was in the grill line in the afternoon? Not sure.

Beautiful ship, but I felt crowded.

  4. Holy cow am I glad I came here.

I just checked our cruise to see about any upgrades (we are currently mid-ship in an extended balcony) and noticed that almost EVERY completely AFT extended balcony cabin is now available.

I thought this to be very strange and remembered a thread about shaking. I wonder if all of those lovely people swapped rooms? They definitely were not available before.:confused:

Are you cruising soon? There are a lot of 3-4 person cabins there and they have been tight about occupancy. We were going to book one, but they looked to be sold out (for 2), but when it was about a month out the occupancy restrictions were lifted and a lot came open. They were all higher occupancy so initially they wouldn't come up in a search for 2 person occupancy. Just a thought.

  5. Just a thought, but what about a scanner a the door to scan the cards. If it's already been scanned, the second person would not be let in. The technology is available and not expensive. The hospital where I work uses it to track attendance at large gatherings of staff.

They should do this for muster so people will stop hiding in closets and bathrooms and balconies. But that's a whole 'nother topic. Just thinking about how useful that technology would be.

  6. We paid the driver when he dropped us off. They are standard fares by zones, and are by the car or van load, so look at the sign posted outside the port at the taxi area. It will show where you are going and what the total fare is for the group size you have. There shouldn't be negotiation. Taxis are plentiful. You could stand on the road and when one came along, if it was full they would call

Someone to come get you. :). But the resorts will also call if there aren't any outside, which there normally are.

  7. Uh, clearly you didn't read their post, nor my post.... They asked about down town.... Let me quote their question again for you "What's Worth Doing In Down Town Cozumel?"

And I said basically what you said, you have to go out and see sights.... And yes, I have been past the port many times, thank for your concern...and understanding..

No, I read it and started of with what was good in San Miguel, and then for the benefit of the other poster that hadn't been, and seemed to be concerned (or sarcastic ;) ) I listed other various places around the island.

But actually the best thing downtown are the chocolate peanut butter margaritas at Wet Wendy's can't believe I forgot to mention those.

    :)

  8. After reading this post, I went to the Carnival site to review their disembarkation procedures. I couldn't find anything! Not even on the FAQ's. I've sailed twice, but one was FTTF and one was Self-assist, so we were off VERY early.

I'd like to know what "NORMAL" procedure should be expected. I kind of like the sound of lounging around on board... BUT not so late that we slow down those waiting to get on...

You are asked to leave your cabin and hang out on lido or one of the upper public decks, or in the theatre until your group is called. Plenty of room. Unfortunately, Everyone wants to wait near the atrium, which is exactly where they ask you not to wait, because it clogs up the process and gets far too crowded.

  9. Mingle with the locals, if you want a Towel, T-shirt or Beer...

Actually, stay on the ship, nothing to see at this port unless you go on a tour.

What? Have you ever left the port?

If you wanted to go into San Miguel, and walk around the main plaza there are lots of shops. Mostly the same touristy stuff, but some arts and other items downtown. Yes, the vendors want you to shop. No thank you and a smile is sufficient.

There are really good restaurants. Casa Denis is on the back corner of the plaza and the oldest restaurant on the island. They have authentic yucatecan dishes. La Choza is a few

Streets back. Great food. Many others to pick from.

You can take a cab over to the east side to visit the beaches and bars/restaurants at punta morena, or Rasta's or the highest point on the island at coconuts. (Or hop along that side to all of them including playa Bonita).

You can go to the southern point and visit the lighthouse. You can go to on of many beach clubs along the southern coast, some all inclusive, some not.

You can visit the ruins at San Gervaisio (sp?)

All of these things can be reached by a cab, no need for a formal tour.

You can go to a traditional steam lodge and do the Mayan ritual.

It's about a 2.3 mile walk along the water to get downtown if you like to walk in the heat.

You can take a ferry and walk the shops, restaurants and beaches of playa del Carmen if you have a long day in port. Don't buy a round trip pass though, buy each way as you go because there are 3 ferry companies now, you don't want to be stuck wanting to take the one you don't have the ticket for.

I wouldn't stay in port, and definitely not stay on the ship. But that is my opinion only. I enjoy Cozumel.

  10. I'm going to disagree, although 100% certain to be in the minority.

For my last CCL sailing (Carnival Breeze), I waved-off all food/beverage offerings, and went for the onstage entertainment. Live music is so rare on the main theatre stage, that I wanted to see/hear what was offered.

    I am 'someone', thanks!

    .

I am glad that someone still enjoyed it.:)

We could never hear what was going on up on stage, because the people around us were talking so loudly and yelling for the waiters to add one more drink to their already full table - you know, before the hour was up.;)

  11. Those parties stopped being fun awhile ago. Overcrowded, free for alls. No one went to enjoy the party, they went for the drinks. They spoke over the person speaking, wouldn't shut up. Same old info presented each and every time. If you are loyal you have seen it all before. We stopped going because it was no longer about the fun.

Now the dilemma, we cruise just after the 5/15 date. I am platinum, DH is still gold one more cruise. Do I go to see the changes, or not because he can't go?... hmmmm

  12. The robes, toiletries will. The use of the thermal suites and t-pool is not supposed to be, but some have come on here reporting that it has been given to them.

I would go expecting that you would have the pay the fee for use of the spa facilities if you want them, and then be pleasantly surprised if for some reason they are given to you.

  13. Dont care about what the old guy did. He needs to learn that patience is needed in life.

FTTF is s slap in the face to the folks that EARNED the ability to cut lines the hard way

    Please...

Some people earned it with 10 3 day cruises or 30 days, and some people earned it at 75 days. Unfortunately I earned it the hard way and I still don't begrudge people paying for the few (not all) benefits that come with it. Because I willingly paid for it too a few times. Didn't hurt a soul except my wallet.

  14. You know, we asked the people walking along the beach area in HMC if they were acting as lifeguards. He chuckled and said he was a shark spotter. I was like wha? He said they have tiger sharks that come up to the beach area sometimes so they watch for them.

Now we dive, so sharks don't really bother me too much, and that water is so super clear you can see everything, but you can bet I started looking a little more often. Even if he was just yanking my chain, which I couldn't really tell. ;)

  15. Only if the games are on the main network. No csn, nbcsports, nhl network. Only nbc, cbs, abc, ESPN desportes. Lots of soccer.

Believe me, we have sailed during the playoffs and it wasn't fun for me tracking down my husband in the sports bar every 20 mins just so he could watch the ticker. And at that time, all of the "local" news on the network stations came from Colorado, which I always thought was strange anyway. Now at least it is Miami.
