There is a left luggage office near the Ravenna station, so you could check your bags while you visit town, then either take the train or meet your driver for the transfer to Venice.
Hi there euro cruiser, the information you shared about the luggage storage is greatly appreciated and may be key in working out the logistics of what we'd like to do at a more reasonable cost. Is luggage safe from theft at the luggage storage there? We haven't been to Europe, don't know anything about the Ravenna area, and have not used a luggage storage before. Thanks!

I think the main options have been spelled out above: cruise line transfer, bus, train or expensive private transfer.
With what you'd like to do (e.g., tour Ravenna, then transfer to Venice) it is going to be very pricey for two people. Ravenna being a relatively new port for embarkation/disembarkation, there are not a lot of agencies offering transfers yet. And, I've noticed when looking at Civi transfers that some companies that formerly offered a shared shuttle option are no longer doing so, presumably do to continuing concerns about COVID. (Remember, Italy was hit hard.)
You can Google and find some other transfer alternatives but most start around 500 euro for the basic transfer alone. If you want to add on time in Ravenna (not the best use of the car as central Ravenna is very small and walkable), you're probably looking at a minimum of another 60-75 euro per additional hour.
You may have to reconsider your plans....
Cruisemom42, thanks for your comments. I didn't realize that Ravenna is a new port for disembarkation. It also makes sense that some things may still be limited due to changes that came about regarding Covid. It is helpful to know that Ravenna is so small and very walkable too!

Thank you, MisterBill99,
I had, basically, the same thoughts you do regarding the coffee plantation. We'll also take a look at the Guatemalan Guide tours. Have a wonderful vacation.

Thanks so much cruisefan 123,
Much appreciate you sharing your thoughts on the tour and what clothing and shoes are comfortable/acceptable. We sail soon and are looking forward to it that much more with your insights!:ship:

We will be taking the tour of Cartagena with Dora near the end of September. The itinerary lists a visit to the hill at La Popa including the monastery and chapel and also to San Pedro Claver Church. We've been told that it will be quite hot and humid and we should dress comfortably. Just wondering whether there's any type of "dress code" for visiting the chapel and church. Do we need to have our knees and shoulders covered for that portion of the tour? If anyone has been on this tour and could share some tips we'd much appreciate it. Thanks!

Is there an area on the Infinity for guests to wash their own laundry? Other cruise lines have guest laundry rooms on a few decks. Does anyone out there, that has cruised on the Infinity, know whether they have these onboard this ship?

Hi Everybody! Our ship will be docking in Puerto Quetzal and we're considering a tour at the El Barretal coffee plantation. The cruise line offers an excursion which goes there but we're wondering about doing the plantation's own tour instead. Looked at their website and had some email conversations with Sofia del Cid of El Barretal plantation and they can arrange a driver and tour for us. Has anyone gone to El Barretal by setting up a tour directly through them? Looking for tips on doing this, whether their driver and location is safe and whether the tour was an enjoyable way to spend time during this port stop. Thanks!

AryMay, You must have had such a wonderful journey. Thanks so much for sharing details about your Gio Tour in Puntarenas! We will be visiting there in the Fall. Seems like you thoroughly enjoyed your tour, are you glad you chose Gio Tours?
-
Thank You, Froufie! I'm definitely leaning that way.
Has anyone out there done the Hop On Hop Off bus as an excursion through Celebrity? The ship's excursion info shows it as a four-hour tour. When I've done HOHO on my own, in other towns, the amount of time we chose to spend was totally up to us. If there's truly a time limit on this excursion, I'm guessing that the ship has "chartered" the HOHO service to take cruisers to pre-selected spots for specific amounts of time. Does anybody know how that ship's excursion works?

Trying to decide between two options in Cartagena:
1) booking the Hop On Hop Off through Celebrity ship excursion (understand that booking through cruise line , the HOHO bus picks up and drops off right at the ship)
or
2) a van tour with Dora the Explorer
Any suggestions or opinions would be appreciated. Thanks in Advance!

Beautiful, thanks so much for sharing. Many of your photos are truly prettier than a postcard. Are you a pro photographer in "real life"?

Thanks for the pic and info, Mercruiser. Looks beautiful! We want to do a South Pacific cruise (probably on Celebrity) and would love to see a review of your trip when you get back. So relaxing - Enjoy!

Thank you all so much!

Do you have to dine at Mulat's to go an enjoy the music?

I'm just pulling your chain and trying to change your perception that your posts don't generate many responses. Besides it's a boring Thursday here at work. :D
Ohhh I see how it is....you were just killing time 'til the weekend got here.
Hey maybe you could school me a bit. I've visited the cc boards just a few times, usually when I have a cruise planned. Never knew how to do a 'signature' and all the other cool bells and whistles. Is there a tutorial or something?
-
Oops, thanks for pointing out the info in your signature. I'm new here and didn't realize information was included there.

Thanks Chmie, I'm thinking folks just have busy lives -not taking it personally.
My alternate plan was the same as yours, Garden District looks beautiful. DH thinks it will be better to do the opposite, stay near Fr. Qtr. and the port and ride streetcars to the other locales.
When do you cruise and on which ship? I hope you have a great time!

Hi swscruiser,
Thanks for replying to my post, you're the only one who did. Maybe I need to punch up my wording to make posts more exciting or interesting - Woo Hoo!:D My posts never seem to generate much response.
Based on what you're saying, I think we'll plan to see Bourbon Street at different times (day/night) so we get the full effect.
Do you know if things are going on at the Jazz Historical Park day and night?
Is there more to see in French Qtr that is not on Bourbon Street?
I have heard that there are plantations about an hour from downtown but we won't have a car (are these the Antebellum Tours?).
Hope you have a good week....can't believe its the end of September already.
-
We will have three days in NOLA next month, staying near the French Qtr. before a cruise. We won't have a car, but our hotel is close to the Canal and St Charles streetcar lines. We are not big drinkers/partiers but would like to see Bourbon Street and would like suggestions of other things worth seeing in Fr. Qtr. Some places like Jackson Square, Jazz National Historic Park and French Market sound nice and maybe the Paddlewheeler ride. Thinking we might spend a day or two in the Fr Qtr and waterfront areas and a day riding the St Charles streetcar to see the Garden District, maybe take a walk at Audubon Park. There will just be two adults and we don't mind some walking. Hoping for a laid back and relaxing visit. Wondering whether our plans sound workable and what else there may be to see in these areas.

We used Rhaama Service https://www.rhaamaservice.it/en/ to drive us from Ravenna to Venice after our cruise. I researched and contacted many companies. Rhaama had been recommended in comments on this board and on TripAdvisor. They are local to Ravenna, which may be one reason their pricing was much, much better than some other car services. We arranged for a driver to pick us up at the port so we could see the local area before heading to Venice for the rest of our vacation. Our driver picked us up in a very nice, clean, Mercedes van. He lives in Ravenna and knew the area well, spoke excellent english, and was friendly and easy to talk to. He parked right outside while we went into the mausoleum and the cathedral to see the amazing mosaics in Ravenna. As we continued toward Venice, the driver suggested stopping in Comacchio to walk around the area known as "Small Venice". We very much enjoyed this ride, the sights along the way, and chatting with the driver. It was the perfect relaxed transportation solution for us, highly recommend it!
