  1. 100% agree with this. I think many people don’t realize all of the options available with a premium drink package — it’s not just alcohol. Smoothies at the spa cafe, nice coffees and iced tea at Cafe al Bacio, Evian from any bar, Perrier, soft drinks. If you do drink alchohol, you get premium brands in any drink you order. Grey Goose martini? No problem. Knob Creek in your old fashioned? Done. Oh, you didn’t like that and would like to try something else? No worries, what can I get you? We will never cruise without a drink package!

Love the way you think! However, the bartenders at least from my previous experience would not use top shelf unless requested. My wife’s pina coladas got considerably better once she pointed this out to me. And I’m the one that does all of the CC research...

  2. Hi

We are sailing the Reflection out of Fort Lauderdale, FL

On the day we disembark I am looking at flights home.

I see one at 12 noon.

Just wanted to double check that isn’t too early.

Am hoping to do luggage valet.

I know that I should know this stuff but the last few years we have cruised out of Bayonne NJ and drive to the pier.

    Thank you in advance

Just did luggage valet on the Silhouette with an 1155 flight time. Did walk off and was at the airport by 0850.

  3. We will never cruise without a drink package! Not only do you get alcoholic drinks but premium coffees and evian/Perrier, smoothies from aqua spa cafe. Can also order drinks that are out of the norm and toss em if we don’t like them. Total freedom.

  4. Room: We were in a C2 cabin on the hump (9298). Loved the bigger balcony and location as the elevators were very accessible. Unfortunately, I was unable to locate frayed furniture and “signs” of massive wear and tear.

Just curious -- do you mean there was frayed furniture and signs of considerable wear and tear?

We were in a C2 hump on the Sillie in the summer. I understood that the furniture was in the process of being replaced -- we had a newly upholstered sofa but the chair was definitely the worse for wear.

Agree this is a very convenient location and balcony would be great in warmer climes

I’m sorry as I was being sarcastic. The ship was in great shape! I’m always amused when people let frayed and worn furniture determine their vacation happiness.

  5. We just finished our Silhouette Christmas cruise. A little background info. DH, DW and DD who is 13. This is our fourth cruise and third on Celebrity. We’ve been on Reflection and twice on Silhouette.

Embarkation: We flew into Fort Lauderdale the morning of our cruise. We arrived at the port at 1030. The lines were short and we were on the ship by 1045. All three of us had drink packages. We will never cruise without them! Off to the pool deck for our second drink. We headed to the MDR for our lunch as we were in a C2 cabin. It was good but nothing special. Speaking of food...

Food: After three cruises with Celebrity, I’ve learned not to put too much faith in other food reviews. Food was good to great anywhere we ate throughout the cruise. Our DD enjoyed Qsine on the first night. The food was good and varied but the service great. Breakfast in the MDR was good and relaxed. Breakfast in buffet was good but way too busy! Lunch was mainly at the mast grill as the burgers were very good. Dinners in the MDR were very good and the service exceptional (thanks Jobita, Aneesh and Joel)! We requested them the last few nights. We were select and never had to wait for a table.

Room: We were in a C2 cabin on the hump (9298). Loved the bigger balcony and location as the elevators were very accessible. Unfortunately, I was unable to locate frayed furniture and “signs” of massive wear and tear. Our cabin steward (Nichol) did a good job of keeping our room clean.

Public areas: The ship was clean and has a great layout. DW enjoyed being poolside where finding loungers was never a problem. I enjoyed the solarium as it is relaxing and kid free. However, there were a ton of families with teen kids. The average age there was considerably younger than our last Spring break cruise. Aside from the public use of cell phones, it was a relaxing place. One observation that validated our decision to cruise Celebrity. During port days parked next to both RCCL and NCL revealed much as they had constant loud music playing. We cruise to relax and don’t require constant stimulation. There wasn’t a ton of daily activities which was somewhat of a letdown as we enjoy cultural presentations.

Fellow passengers: Tons of families with teens. This bode well for us as our DD had a good peer group. Mainly an American cruise demographic with some Europeans and Canadians. Nice passengers but cell phone use very noticeable. One individual decided to have a conversation on speaker phone in the solarium. Not the norm but irritating nonetheless.

Disembarkation: Incredibly easy. We went to Tuscan Grill and had a continental breakfast and did walk off. Utilizing luggage valet and mobile pass got us off the boat by 0820 and were at the airport by 0845. We enjoyed our cruise so much that we booked next Christmas on the Silhouette. Good food, relaxing, excellent crew and smoke free makes for an excellent Christmas vacation.

  6. I used my cell phone in a public place last time I was onboard. I was really struggling to get a signal on one half of the shop. I needed to have an urgent conversation about my dying grandfather who sadly now no longer with us. I'm sorry you think, that kind of behaviour is tacky.

Perhaps you think I should have emailed instead?

This individual was having a conversation over speaker phone in the solarium for all to hear. I didn’t gather it being a life and death scenario.

  7. Thank God we have a free market so we can choose the cruise line that delivers the best product for the money. We just came off of a Christmas cruise on the Silhouette. We had a great time and booked next year’s Christmas cruise on the Silhouette. There were a ton of families with children but that didn’t take away our great time. I didnt see a whole lot of drunks but maybe people having a good time. I do like that I’m basically getting an all inclusive vacation for three for about $600 a day. Service was great, food was darn good and we left happy and very relaxed! One pet peeve was the use of cell phones in public spaces. Now that’s is tacky.

  8. We are preparing for our third Celebrity cruise during Christmas. Our DD, who is 13 enjoys Celebrity for different reasons. For one she is not an action junkie and doesn't require constant stimulation. Think Scavenger hunts and XBOX. Two, she is a foodie plain and simple. She has rarely eaten off of a children's menu and loves all the different kinds of foods that Celebrity has to offer. Third, she is well-traveled and has learned to adjust to a multitude of differing situations. We expect her to behave when in the presence of adults pure and simple. So, if you want your kids to be wild and crazy then this is not the cruise line for you. But, if they thrive in a more laid back and refined environment then this is it! My daughter thoroughly enjoyed the kids club. She also had the VIP experience and enjoyed it as it was money well spent.

  9. We were on Millie last Jan 2017 Hong Kong to Shanghai. We had a fantastic cruise. We are booked on March 18, 2018 cruise on Millie. Last year we had gotten the 10 year China Visa as we had planned on traveling in China over the next 10 years. If I remember rightly. Passports and a copy of your onward travel was needed at check in. A number of times we did have to go through customs checking for body temperature. China did want a one on one with passenger and passport.

I would love to hear more about your experiences. We are in the planning stages for Mar 19 Hong Kong to Shanghai. The emphasis being on China as that will be our daughter's heritage tour. Are the visa rules crystal clear as I heard about the 144 hr rule but am fuzzy on it? Our experiences with Celebrity consist only with S class ships in the Caribbean.

  10. We are scheduled for our third Celebrity cruise and have sailed NCL once. My wife and I enjoy what this line has to offer as it is relaxing and very service oriented. Our pre-teen daughter also enjoys it as there aren't too many kids running around wild. My DD and I are both foodies and enjoy most of the offerings. We are fairly well-traveled and enjoy vacation for what it is. Time to relax! If I had the time and money then I would try RCL. But, I do my research on CC and know that Celebrity is where I want to be. Is it perfect?? No. We would like to see more enrichment programs as we enjoy when they do language classes and anything that is cultural. Experiencing different cultures be it through food or language or customs makes vacation that much more interesting. There are a lot of fee-based events but we avoid them when necessary. We enjoy the smoke-free atmosphere, somewhat older demographic and affluent clientele. Frayed furniture, rust on the balcony, families with kids are not deal breakers and don't make or break a vacation. When we feel the need for white-glove treatment then we will head to Azamara. For now, we will stick with a proven product. Apparently, I'm not in the minority as Celebrity is one of the highest rated Mass Market Lines on CC. They must be doing something right.

  11. I took my wife and daughter to Lawn Club Grill. It is a great family environment as I got the chance to make pizzas with my daughter. Lasting memories, good food and an excellent atmosphere while in the Caribbean.I also negotiated a discounted price by talking to the restaurant manager earlier in the day. My daughter really enjoyed Quisine and the food was good and the service even better!

  12. I think it's great you want to introduce your kids to different food. We've taken our daughter to both Quisine and Lawn Club Grill but never to Murano. We wouldn't hesitate as she is very well behaved and is an adventurous eater. Celebrity did have a program as early as this past Spring that they have a flat rate charge for children 12 and under eat at the specialty restaurants for $15 per child. I had the flyer but can no longer find it. You can always inquire once on board.

  13. We've been on Celebrity twice and NCL once. We enjoy Celebrity because it is classy and relaxing. The food is very good all around and it is nice having adults only areas mainly the solarium. One thing that hasn't been mentioned is the fact that Celebrity is non-smoking in the casino and all general areas. They have designated smoking areas. If you are a non-smoker then this is a huge plus! Our teen daughter enjoys the teen club as she is not an action type but enjoys experiencing the ship and having a laid back vacation. We were on both Reflection and Silhouette and scheduled for a Christmas cruise again on the Silhouette. Both ships are very nice with a slight nod to the Silly. Having a drink package is great even if you are not a big drinker (we are not). Overall very relaxing if not too exciting.

  14. Is there much of a difference in quality from the burgers at mast grill and lawn club? As in, is it worth the upcharge (subjective question I know).

I've had both and the Mast Grill burgers are good enough for me. That's not to say the LCG burgers weren't great because they were. They were huge and could almost feed two people. I happened to be renting an alcove the day I bought an LCG burger so perhaps I was just being lazy.

  15. I just booked a C3 on a Christmas sailing and was originally told I couldn't upgrade to a C2. I called back a week later and asked for an upgrade and got a hump cabin with no problems. I've learned from these boards to call a different celebrity planner as it's a guarantee that I'll receive conflicting or different info.

  16. I booked and paid directly with Celebrity for a Dec 2017 cruise after final payment. I was originally told I could take advantage of price drops until cruise but could not upgrade from C3 to C2 as it is a holiday sailing. Well, I recently called and got upgraded to a C2 cabin with no problem but was told I couldn't take advantage of a recent price drop as it is past final payment date. Should I call again to try for the updated price or was that cruise planner correct? BTW...I got a starboard hump cabin which I'm told is a great upgrade. Thoughts???
