Hey Everyone,
Been on dozens of cruises before, and the wife and I have been on the Bliss - But I have been wrangled into planning a thanksgiving cruise which includes family members. More Importantly - My brother with my young niece and nephew. We are looking at the Bliss 2020 for Thanksgiving - ALL of the Ocean-view family rooms are gone.
Thoughts on the Balcony.... We had safety concerns when we thought about it. I know how the doors work - yet since I dont have kids I never bother to look and or understand the locking mechanism while onboard. Im sure my brother and I can rig something up to make it even more secure or bring a bracing bar as well. They are 6 and 3....the 3 year old treats the world around him as a personal jungle gym.

I price compare the cost vs other cruises everytime I book. With/without it included. I also tested a cruise where I didnt have the package and compared bar tabs. Hands down it saves me money....but more importantly, I do not THINK about money on the vacation...which too me is the best part.
As another poster mentioned. 4-5 mixed drinks in a day... it pays for itself. Hell on a sea day at the pool....Thats noon for me. A night out around the ship? thats from dressed at 5 to pre-show at 830.- 2

Nah - More like someone is outside the theater, about a block away, smoking a cigarette and considering bringing it into the movie theater and sitting by the curtain. Way to early to speculate anything at this point - especially to title the thread "Probable change for Allure..."
Ship sails Sunday, if they make an itinerary switch it will be in the next 72 hours.....thats way to early?? really?
-
I was going to say something very similar. PURE SPECULATION at this point.
yeah considering its suppose to be smack dab in the middle of the eastern ports during the cruise..... its relevant. It his highly likely this cruise will switched to western itinerary.

>> by those who live their life inside the shell <<
LOL...OK...guilty I suppose. ;)
Question - WHY do you need a Jeep? How many people? The roads are excellent and flat.
Try Margarita again at ISIS, she is normally very prompt with her replies, as long as the questions/requests are not too lengthy.
Dont need one... just want one. Open air and top. Just preference

FYI - A LOT of gas stations in the DFW area are completely out of gas. Lines to fill up in the area are down the block. People have been panic refueling which only further exacerbates the problem.
So there's a new obstacle that will affect some people getting to the port this weekend. No idea what the situation is on the stretches of highways between the major cities.
When I drove through Matthew last year to get to my escape cruise I brought 2 5 gallon fuel cans in my SUV and when I didn't need them i put them in my tank before i left the car in parking for the cruise.

Thanks for the Review. We are sailing next week.
What were the Dining package options and costs when you boarded? How much for 2, 3, 4?

Check out Jason Hayes on Facebook. He runs EZ Cruise and continues to make live updates of some of the rising water in Galveston and the status of cars in the parking lots. Most indoor garages seem to be good.

Much respect for him. He is looking out for his customers. He has been staying at the car park with everyone's cars.

Who are you to say its stupid for anyone to stay on the ship - maybe they don't have to be anywhere and they are enjoying the extra time. Let's not be so judgmental...
Minus those folks, which won't be many.
It also puts a burden to stay if you can get off and fly home with your original ticket return airfare covered due to the original flight cancelled. What if they sail to Galveston on Friday, and then the roads don't clear for days. Those people will try to travel up to roads towards Houston (which is the only way to really go) putting a burden on the region trying to recover. Not to mention if they DO have to fly, then the burden on a backlogged airport trying to get a flight back.
If you flew to Houston or to the Liberty to Houston, you have NO IDEA when you will A: Get back to Galveston via ship B: no idea when you can get of the ship and safely to IAH and C: when you can actually fly from IAH to back home. Hence its stupid to pass up a safe return travel option via South FL now.....
The only people with a reason to stay on the ship until Galveston are those who drove there or really have nothing else to do for the next week, or longer, and can just roll with it. That 2nd group is not a lot of people.
-
The only ones "stranded" in Miami are the folks who chose to disembark - they could stay on and get back to Galveston.
BS... if you originally had flights from Houston to back home, you could easily talk to the airline and change the return flight to home from MIA or FLL. The airline needs to give you a flight anyway since the original one, out of IAH, was cancelled. The airlines would LOVE for you to not try to use Hobby when it actually does reopen and get you on a seat in MIA or FLL now and be done with it. If you flew to Liberty, its stupid to stay on the ship at this point.

If you walk off with Luggage, no problem. take the 1055

Carnival has already canceled their cruise for this Thursday the 31st.
may some should go ahead and start letting RCL know??
http://www.galveston.com/blog/626/tropical-storm-harvey-update/
Yes but Carnival have not taken action on Galveston Saturday Sunday sailings.....yet. I anticipate they will cancel.
-
How come we can always figure it out well before RCL can?
[What is going to happen in Galveston this Sunday I mean]
The Port Of Galveston being open [once it is and ...if... it is] is the smallest part of the issue.
The bigger issues:
How do people getting off the Liberty get out of Houston and how do new passengers get to Galveston?
We always use the Sam Houston Tollway to get to Galveston and it is now blocked by 18 feet+ of flood water at just one underpass...
Can you imagine the chaos if they refuse to cancel this Sunday's sailing? If they try it it will be a debacle.
Once the people get off the Galveston Island into Houston [if they can] we may see some of them on TV being rescued by the Cajun Navy after their cars float away.
But I'm sure the cruise for this Sunday is still scheduled and Good to Go. :(
Well, Carnival hasn't made a call yet on Sat or Sunday cruises either....and since they are the professionals now (amazing how things change) lets see what they do. If last week is any evidence, they will lead by example.

Advice please..
We are scheduled on Royal Caribbean this Sunday out of Galveston. I was just contacted by Southwest Airlines wanting me to change my flights to either Dallas or San Antonio. They are not I repeat not saying that the Houston airport will not be open on Saturday they are just saying that due to flight delays it would be easier. I'm not opposed to driving the extra amount of time to get there I just want somebody who's there to tell me if it's even going to be possible to Galveston? I know nobody knows for sure, just looking for some guidance pleases Royal Caribbean has pretty much told me unless I do everything I can to try to get there I'll get no refund if the ship does not sail.
I question if the Sunday Sailing will actually happen.... take the flight change. Hobby is not opening anytime soon this week and when it does travel in around Houston is going to rough for at least a week or 2

The warning for the east side, cancun, coz... is the same it always is. Nothing substantial has changed. Cozumel is probably the safest place in Mexico.... and probably safer than places in the states.

WOW - so all the noise has just been about when people ended up getting the same (final cancellation & refund) results? Hardly.
There's little debate that the announcement timing of RCI and Carnival were different. Viewing the other side of the coin...had the storm subsided and Liberty docked successfully in Galveston on Sunday (weather cooperating), then we'd hear different noise would come from the position "Carnival made their announcement too soon and should not have re-routed their ships - terrible inconveniences".
There's no winning with some folks.
Seriously. Stop. You are one of the only people on here actually defending RCL's absolutely terrible decision making this weekend. "Had i we just gotten the cards we wanted, the 10,000 I lost in the casino wouldn't have been so bad". RCL made a terrible decision and encouraged 1000's of people to travel into an entire disaster zone. Not so much Galveston, but the greater metro area that supports it and its ports.
Carnival hands down was more professional, level-headed, and customer minded.
I have sailed several Royal Cruises. This issue had zero impact on me and I am considering not booking again anytime in the near future and booking more NCL or trying Carnival again.

Now that the crisis is over the RCL cheerleaders are out in force🤡

The crisis is not over. If you have a Liberty Sailing for next weekend...I would question A: how the hell am I getting there and B: is this thing still gonna happen. in RCL fasion, they will find out 2 hours before sailaway

First world problems.
That is kinda of BS. It should still be good to go IMO. Seriously.

Honestly with the amount of flooding... and the amount of water still to come this week.... I question if Liberty's sailings next week still happen as planned.

At this point easy and efficient aren't all that important.
RCL could charter a flight from FLL, load it with RCL personnel and fly it to NOLA or Mobile. Get 200 hotel rooms for all. Setup computers at either site.
It can be done, and in the grand scheme of things is not that expensive. Can be done in less than 24 hours. I have organized similar emergency things wit my work in less time.
Setting up disembarkation of the current cruise can easily be done at either mobile or nola. It just taking today to setup of then logistics of the staff.

My husband went down to Deck One to the doctor to see what happens if he runs out of medication. He said there was a bunch of luggage down there on those carts that they pick luggage up with. There is no one out to clean rooms this morning.
I would hope if you traveled away from home you brought more than a 7 day supply of medication.

Can New Orleans handle a Freedom class ship? Perhaps that area might have its own problems a few days from now.
Yes it can....and so can Mobile Cruise Terminal.

You mean like when you said yesterday that Delta Airlines lost 13 Billion dollars due to a storm?
Or when they said Cruiselines move ships out of the Caribbean during hurricane season to avoid storms :'):'):')

Thanks all. We were probably just being overcautious. Thanks for the recommendations on moving the stool outside before locking the door at night.
