  1.  Royal still hasn't put up excursions since they switched our port. Now hubby is saying we'll just do something on our own. Anyone who has done Atlantis and made a day of it, are there any really nice restaurants there. He's saying he'd like to find a nice restaurant think sit down NICE meal not burgers and fries haha.

Maybe seafood maybe steak?? Either in Atlantis or close by.

Sorry to be a pain. This will be our first cruise in a few years and first since he got sober so really looking forward to making Good memories. Oh also we don't have kids with us ours are grown and on their own.

Just note when you go that Atlantis is cash free and they want a photo ID to use a credit card for food.

Thank you. I think we would eat breakfast on the ship and wait until we got back to the ship to eat again. Not into $20 burgers lol not even at home. Honestly we're not much of fast food type people any ways.

Thank you for mentioning it! I do think OP was looking for what benefits they might get with having full access, as they mentioned "Price and what it includes." OP- you might want to look into the comfort suites thing, not sure if it's still an ongoing deal.

Thanks it would just be me and my hubby. Our kids are grown.

  4. Hey all,

we just got switched from Labadee to Nassau for our August 11 FOS cruise.  Bummer but not end of world ( bummer because we already are going to coco Cay so was hoping for someplace not Bahamas).

Any ways it'll take royals AMAZING IT department a while to make the change so mean while I'm wondering about excursions.  Hubby mentioned Atlantis being in Nassau and we've never been there. I know it's ridiculously priced as is everything these days. But if anyone has RECENTLY(within the year or so)  done this can you give me some insight. Price and what it includes? I like to stick with the cruise company excursions to keep mishaps to a minimum in light of all the stupidity in the news lately. We use to go wonder off like crazy people with no cares but being a little older now we're more cautious.

    Thanks for any help.

Just got the email I was expecting.  In place of Labadee (for June) going to somewhere in the Dominican Republic.

Questions are: how long does it usually take for RCCL to switch shore excursion offerings on theire website?  Still shows Labadee and, since I've never been to DR I have no clue what do see/do.

Also....what to see/do in Puerto Plata, Dominican Rep?

Lucky you! We'll be on FOS in August. We now will be stopping at Nassau. We're already going to Coco Cay so I was hoping for something better. Don't really like Bahamas that much so 2 stops there is horrible.

That's the whole point 🙂 It's samples of the "finer" restaurants across the fleet. All the ships share the same cookbooks/recipes so can prepare anything.

We did it once, and enjoyed it.

I understand that. However if one ship has a finer seafood place and another does not they don't have what it takes to make that. Which is why I was specifically asking about Freedom.

It’s just so many people are reaching statuses they will need to dedicate half of the ship soon.

Technically we are putting our money and time because we want nice vacation aren’t we? Does anyone really go on cruise with RCI specifically to reach higher levels?

Well it is why we stick with one line. We found one we liked and stayed to reach the point where we would get some extra perks. So yes some actually do. Especially those of us that can't afford to cruise often. Obtaining Diamond allows us to have some extra perks that save us a little money. Like the free drinks.

Just an FYI. Depending on the number of Diamond+ and Pinnacle on board for your sailing, Diamonds may not be allowed in during the evening happy hour times. It will state in the letter in your cabin when you board.

Yeah this is BS. Sorry but we put in the time/ money ect to finally make diamond and then they rake the perks away. I get pinnacle did too but they shouldn't take away from one to give to the next. It's like saying we really don't care about your loyalty. So what happens when they put a step above pinnacle? When we started out Diamond was the highest level. So will pinnacle care when they add another step and start taking perks away from them?

  9. We're thinking the same way. We don't cruise until August but we're fine with what ever we get honestly we already have 2 beach days if this stop comes back so if it doesn't we'd be just as happy😉. I booked the cruise for Grand Cayman any way since we got married there while cruising on FOS.

  10. I've never been a hit tub person. Sitting in hot steamy water with a bunch of others doesn't sound fun. Then again I prefer a shower over a bath. My sister has had a got tub for many years and I think I briefly went in it once lol. I watched a family sit in one for HOURS with a baby!! Took baby out layed him on the side changed his poopy diaper and put him back in.

Who exactly was mean?  People just posted they don't want to smell or  inhale it.  You have every right to complain about drunk people if they are interfering with you.  There's a reason the laws about where people can smoke changed you know and it's not because people are "mean".

Sorry but telling them to stay on the ship was a bit rude!

Probably because the smoke from smoking just doesn't stay with the smoker it drifts into non smokers. I think there would be less of this if there were like smoking boxes where the smoke stayed with the smokers everyone would be happy.

And drunk people act up and make some things very uncomfortable. I'vehad a man walk into me and spill his drink on me. But no one complains. I'm just saying it isn't for us to judged what someone else enjoys. No need for rude comments. I see it more and more on these boards where if an opinion is different there are lots of rude Remarks. I remember when these boards were helpful.

  14. I don't understand why non smokers have to be so mean when answering.  I don't smoke and I have asthma but that doesn't give me the right to be mean or judge what others enjoy. I don't drink but I don't complain about the drunk people.

When I was young smoking was done in hospitals, restaurants and every where in between. Just be glad it's not like that anymore.

To the OP just find the designated areas and stay away from grumpy people.

  15. We get dressed up for dinner each night. Including formals for formal night so we bring lots of clothes. I don't do laundry on vacation call me lazy but it's only 7 days and I pack enough. We bought the magnetic hooks and still never used them. I do pack a ton of sunscreen and take all my own toiletries. My hair would break off if I used that jail house all in one lol. I did get 2 cheap floats to use on the islands so I don't have to rent them ( I paid less for the 2 than I would to rent one) I'lluse them to lay on and snorkle, i bring my own snorkle gear too. I always have medicines , I have IBS so only God knows what is going to send my stomach into a frenzy haha I bring stuff to "stop" & stuff to "go" 😉😆. Also my hubby gets bad indigestion ever since having his gallbladder removed so gotta pack his pills. Other than that a floppy sun hat, a couple wristlets for carrying things in the evening,  a beach bag for the pool. Nothing spectacular.
