  1. Many crew don't get to go ashore, and many ports do NOT have a Walmart. Give cash. They can spend it anywhere, without worrying about whether a particular store is in that port, or having to take an hour bus ride to get to it or whatever.

Not really. Many people just don't care for sweets, others may be diabetic or trying to watch their weight or whatever. I get sweet treats frequently as gift in my job. I always smile and thank them and gush over how delicious it looks and how I can't wait to indulge. Then I take it home and throw it in the trash.

Most times they can trade the candy to their buddies on the ship.

    No need to waste things.

  2. I have a friend who no longer has her sister visit from Germany because of the horrible experience her sister had arriving at JFK.

It is sad that we are losing tourism dollars by making travel here so burdensome, but it is tragic that we are losing the friendship and goodwill of the people of other countries and cultures who have been so important to international relationships.

So safety for all current U.S.A. residents is no concern for you?????

  3. Princess in this case. A 13 yr old would probably like Princess Cays over Costa Maya or Key West. BUT, if your daughter isn't into beach days then Key West would be her ticket. Many Quasi and non-Quasi historical things to do and see in Key West. You could also make Key West a beach day, if need be.

Yes. Same - If she is into the Kid clubs that may be better.

If it's a hang together cruise then go Celebrity.

  4. My most recent cruise my friend asked me to get him a bottle of Pure White Hennesy.

No problem there - it was $52 in the ship store and I had cruise credit.

Went on land and saw it for $36 or so in a store.

I took a picture of it with my camera phone.

I showed the Celebrity store person the photo and they refunded the difference.

Just saying if you do buy on ship and see the liquor on land for less just take a picture and they will refund for you.

  5. Ugh. Connie's my favourite. I still miss Horizon and Zenith. I wish they would add smaller ships. I know they won't, and I know why, but I miss them. Remember docking in Hamilton and St. George's?

Yes. Many cruises on Horizon and Zenith out to Bermuda. :D

  6. I've only booked cruises with a TA.

I think I have used 3 or 4 so far.

The last and current one I have used for about 12 plus cruises.

She fights for me for upgrades and OBC.

Best TA in the business - from my perspective.

You have to get a TA who will work for you - not just get their 6% and sit back.

  7. I've sailed with Celebrity almost 14 times and I've never even once had anything but a stellar experience. My ONLY compliant is that in January/February 2016, I did the Eastern Caribbean sailing on Silhouette and without a word of exaggeration, the median age of passengers had to be 60. I know Celebrity tends to skew older but it was insane. When at a show the host asks couples married more than 50 years to stand up and 1/3 of the theater is on their feet, you know lol. I don't know if it was the time of year of itinerary but when I cruise, I'm sticking to summers in Bermuda. Have another sailing booked in July 2017 and I'm very much looking forward to it.

I'm wondering if Celebrity is a victim of their own good food, service and brand loyalty.

I'm a long time cruiser and would not really switch lines. I started way back in the 70's on ships.

Celebrity fit me well when I first tried them in the 80's and they still do.

So Celebrity has a problem how to ease the older cruisers to ?????? ;)

  8. At one time I managed a large Payoll department issuing 1O,000+ checks a month. If 9,950 were correct no one heard about it, but we quickly heard about the 50 that had an error- even if the error was minor (meaning under $3.00.)

We have completed 33 cruises, 16 on Cekebrity with 5 more booked. We have never had a bad cruise and I never write reviews. If I have a problem on the ship I address with the appropriate person while on the ship. In the few occasions we have had a problem on Celebrity 99% of the time the problem was quickly taken care of on-board.

Yes. This is a great statement.

I think I'm right there with you on the number of cruises but a few more on Celebrity.

Your spot on with the talk to someone when it happens on the ship.

But I do write cruise reviews. And 99% of the time on the Celebrity ships has been perfect.

  9. As a first time Celebrity cruiser (in Aug.) this is interesting and concerning to me. I took quite awhile selecting my cabin, even choosing the Alaska dates for when the cabin I wanted was available. I asked my TA if I might be offered an up-sell, or up-grade (like Princess) and was there a way to mark it meta upgrade only. Her response was that once you book with celebrity, they NEVER move you. I think we shall have another chat before final payment in a couple of weeks!

The TA should have added - only if Celebrity has open cabins at a certain time before the cruise.

    AND

Only if I watch and work with my Celebrity rep to get you an upgrade without cost to you.

The Cruise lines do not want a ship to sail with open cabins.

They may over book as some large groups may request more cabins than they have available.
