This post a little irresponsible.  It has not been cancelled as of yet.  I am scheduled for this cruise and my impression is that my inbox on my email would be an early indication if it has been cancelled.

I wonder if this poster is on the cruise also, or has some other inside information.  If not, irresponsible to post untruths.  Take everything with a grain of salt that you read is good advise for sure....

We are also on this cruise....(I hope).  The Princess website is kind of the bible right now and they have not cancelled it. Just dont see how they will when it was cleared to come in with mo issues and no one is on it now other than staff bringing anything (virus) onboard. They have most likely been cleaning over clean and address things to enhance safety over the past 2 and next 5 days.......but that's just an assumption. We arrive on Saturday so let's keep fingers crossed for all passengers going.

I wonder if they are going to dock at Princess Cay for the week to make room for all of the other ships coming in and/or going out at Port Everglades then come back on the 15th for next weeks cruise??

Makes good sense......just as long as it comes back for our trip on 3-15😉🤞

The ship's webcam shows her docked now in Port Everglades. Does anyone have an update as to whether the passengers stayed aboard or disembarked, when boarding will happen for the next cruise, etc?

Sure hope🤞next cruise on 3-15 goes. We're on it, but am so saddened for those anticipating leaving on 3-8 and being turned away or having to leave the second week of their trip.

I just hope if Princess does cancel 3-15, they do it timely so you dont have people already there in Ft Lauderdale or en route and not finding out until they get to the port. That wouldnt be right or "customer friendly"....especially since the ship is already just sitting there for the next 6 days. The ship was cleared of any issues so further evaluations and cleanings have plenty of time between now and next Sunday to take place. But that's just an "anxious laymans" uneducated viewpoint......we'll see.

We are also on the 3/15 cruise. We are snow birds staying the winter in Port St Lucie. So we will wait and see. We are only a two hr drive down the cost to the port.  Hope to be on board a week from now. At least the ship will be sanitized during the week plus no problem getting on next Sunday.

Let's hope this is the case.

So when pp said, they've already cancelled next week, they mean the people that are currently on board and not the 15th? We are booked on the 22nd sailing.

Yes....the cruise scheduled for 3-8 (today) to the western Caribbean is canceled. The 15th and beyond are still on at this point.

Well, we sail next week on Regal, or will we? I can't believe I am even typing this, but maybe we should cancel. 🤭

I would let them cancel it instead of making the decision to cancel. If they cancel you get money refunded, if you cancel its cruise credit. Wont matter if you are going to rebook soon on Princess, but I would rather get my money back and start over. At least this info is what I understand to be true. We are on the 3-15 Regal trip. I'll wait for them to cancel it, that way the accountability is on them. Thinking that taking this week to tighten up measures then 3-15 will go to eastern Caribbean.

  7. I am sure this has been addressed sometime in the past, but hopefully you'll have patience. What is the best way to go about getting unlimited internet on board as a new Elite member for a 7 day cruise. I know I get 150 minutes free. Can I trade those in towards the cost? We will be on the Regal next month. I can buy it in advance for 59.99 for the 7 days for 1 device. Anyone have any better ways to get it cheaper?  Are there any other ways? Thanks again.

  8. Can anyone who has had both of these explain the difference between... a balcony cabin, and a "deluxe" balcony cabin.?? I cant seem to find anything about the deluxe cabin. I need to decide for a cruise on the Regal Princess in March. 🤔

'Best' is a matter of opinion and your views on money and time! Better to say 'options'.

Car service such as Smiths (mentioned above) or West Quay cars. Both reputable and recommended by CCer's. About £100-£150 each way.

National Express coach. Depends a bit on where your hotel is, but if you are anywhere near Victoria, the main coach station is there. About 2 1/2 hrs to Southampton, often around £5, but can be as much as £20. You will need a cab from Southampton coach station to the ship...£7. These are comfortable coaches and used by many CCer's. https://www.nationalexpress.com/en

Train. Basically 2 routes. More direct is Waterloo - Southampton Central. About 1hr 15mins. Can be as low as £9 or as high as £45! You have to use the website to choose your service. There is a route from Victoria to Southampton, but its about 2 1/2 hrs and around £43. If I was in the Victoria area, I'd use the National Express coach every time. Again, you would need a cab from the station to the ship.  http://ojp.nationalrail.co.uk/

Those are your basic options and as I say, a lot depends on where you are in London (its a big place!) and how much humping of luggage you are willing to do.

    Simon

PS I will now be shot down in flames by dastardly JB!!

What about going the other way.....from Southampton port into London for the day and back. Should we attempt this on our own?

We were on the Crown Princess in May 2019 and I thought I’d share a few of the things I found while researching our trip which worked out really well!

    Pre-cruise:

    • We stayed in Southampton a few days before the cruise and one day took the train to Salisbury for Stonehenge. Gary’s cousin, who we were travelling with, is a great researcher and found a restaurant called “The Haunch of Venison” where we had lunch. It is a very, very old, crooked building, great food and a quirky story!  http://haunchpub.co.uk/
    • It is an easy train ride to Portsmouth and there is so much to see that a full day and overnight is easily passed. The Historic dockyards are wonderful and interesting and the West Quay area has lots of restaurants. We walked to the Spice Island Inn for a lovely lunch overlooking the busy harbour. Thanks to a fellow cruise critic member for this excellent suggestion!!
    • A hint about travelling as a couple by train in UK would be to buy a “two together railcard”. You need pictures for the ID card, but it gives a 30% discount. Also, book your tickets as late as the day before you will be travelling to save on fares, versus buying the day you travel.

    Cruise ports:

    - we did a food tour in Dublin with Delicious Dublin Tours. Our guide was co-owner Ketty and it was a great way to spend some time in that busy city! Their website is here https://deliciousdublintours.com/ A word of caution though is that it took longer to get off the ship than anticipated, so we had to meet the tour at their first stop, which was very stressful and could have so easily been avoided. After the tour, we went to Trinity College; the Library Long Room was fantastic to see, since I am an avid reader! Then we fought (figuratively, haha) our way into the Temple Bar for a beer and some wonderful Irish music.

    - I can strongly recommend City and Causeway Tours from the port of Belfast. https://www.cityandcauseway.com/ I communicated with Alister (one of the owners) about the tour, met him on the day and we had Steve (the other owner) as our guide. I went to the roll call on cruise critic and picked up some people to join us, which can be a crap shoot as far as who you get, but we have always had good luck!! It was a fantastic day, including Giant’s Causeway. They found out we were golfers, so stopped at Royal Portrush so we could get a fix of the upcoming British Open (or just THE Open as they call it - haha) and we had lunch in a beautiful little local cottage, which was a true treat.

    - for our stop in Edinburgh (South Queensferry actually), we booked Duncan McNab from Edinburgh Day Tours for a custom tour to St Andrews, since our husbands are avid golfers and St Andrews is mecca! I am sure Duncan would do any tour you want though and he has timing down to a fine science. He was actually starting to fret that we should be leaving St Andrews to make sure we got back to the ship in time and we ended up with lots of time to sit in the Hawe’s Inn at the port (where RL Stevenson apparently penned Treasure Island) for a couple of beer before catching the tender to the ship. Here’s his website http://www.edinburghdaytours.com/

    Post-cruise:

    - if you spend time in London, I highly recommend connecting with Michelle from London from Scratch.http://www.londonfromscratch.co.uk/  She does walking food tours, which we didn’t do, but we were able to go to one of her supper clubs. What an unusual experience - to sit in her home with perfect strangers and enjoy a gourmet tasting meal!!

    Cheryl

How close is the train station from the Southhampton port? Could we buy a ticket round trip for the day to get into London and back in time.

  11. What would the experienced drink package purchasers here say to the package if it is given as one of the perks of booking. Yes we paid gratuities on it, but what in people's opinions is the best way to utilize it? We just have never had a package before much less a "free" one. Just want the biggest bang for our time on board. This is our first NCL cruise so we don't really know what to expect. I look forward to some interesting/helpful thoughts.
