  2. Another vote for Century, we loved sailing on her! We were on for 13 nights for Christmas and NYE 2011/12 and then a few weeks later got back on for an 18 night cruise. We did not miss the solarium or the indoor pool, as we found other favourite places to sit such as the Hemisphere Lounge, the Sunset Bar, and the Cova Cafe.

If you walk down the stair case at each side of the Sunset Bar at the very aft of the ship on deck 11, there are small secluded areas with great aft views on the base of the stairs on decks 10, 9 and 8 until you get down to deck 7 which has the promenade deck that continues right across the aft.

They have a great Aqua Spa Cafe, and we loved Murano so much we ate there 3 times on the first cruise and 5 times on the second. The staff welcomed us like royalty each time we arrived. In fact, the staff on Century were the nicest, friendliest and most engaging staff we have come across. We enjoyed the MDR as well.

I hope you love the Century as much as we did!

  3. Thanks for a very funny and entertaining review, read it tonight in one go! We are visiting Alaska next year and I really can't wait! We are in an inside cabin as well, the flights from Australia cost too much to then try and add on a balcony. Plus I have booked some cool flight seeing excursions, so using my holiday budget for new experiences rather than a room with a view.

We sailed twice on Rhapsody before she was refurbished, and really liked the ship.

It is always fun cruising with friends you bring along or friends you make on board, you guys look like you had a blast!

We spent Christmas in Finland a few years ago, in Levi, it was beautiful.

  4. Just found this thrread about the Chilkoot tours. We are in Alaska in 2014 and would love it if you would post the price list. The cruise post a tour with the suspension bridge but am leaning towards the Chilkoot tours. Do you know how the two compare? Is the dog sled ride worth it? Thank you, Cathi

Hi Cathi, I emailed them this past July to book for 2014, and they said they will email me the price list in mid-October when they release the new prices, and bookings can be made on their website any time after the new prices are released. So just check their website around mid-October or email them to request the price list. Yvette

  5. I loved your review, and all of your photos were amazing!!! Thanks for posting them, they are just gorgeous! I loved the heart in the clouds photo.

I know how you feel about leaving your batteries and charger at home, we did the same thing when we went to Africa for 3 weeks this year! My husband had his camera and all of these amazing lenses, and no way of charging it! I was so upset I cried. We did find a solution, we ended up splurging and buying another of the same camera at the airport in Nairobi, so now we both have one each with some extra lenses we did not have before.

You must have been happy that you threw in your small camera as an afterthought for Anan. You still managed to get some great photos of the bears. We are booked to go there as well and now I really can not wait.

Thanks again for your time in putting the review together, Yvette

  6. We have read many good things about B&B's, but have never stayed in one. This may sound silly, but how does it work?

You have got some great information here, and it has helped me out as well!

We have stayed in many B&Bs all over the world. They are more intimate than hotels, and are generally a private home that has rooms converted for this use.

They usually have really nice little touches like fresh flowers, fresh fruit, coofee and tea making facilities and the hosts usually know their town very well and can give you lots of advice about the area you are staying in.

Rooms can have private balconies, sitting areas and private bathrooms, but they can also be quite basic with shared facilities, so check before you book.

You still have the freedom to come and go as you choose. You can stay in your room or you can choose to sit in the living areas of the house that are open to guests and mix with any other guests. Usually you get an amazing breakfast the next day cooked by your hosts. Usually there will only be a small amount of other guests as rooms are usually limited in a B&B.

  7. WOW! *V*E*R*Y* nice set of pics! :)

All *E*X*C*E*P*T* for the one advertising for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines! :p ;)

You are incredibly observant! I had to go back and look at them again to see what you meant!

    Great photos!

  8. You could try Salmon Berry Tours? We have booked with them for next year, and they have been extremely helpful. They have mostly great reviews on trip advisor, and have responded to the poor reviews.

  9. Another vote of thanks from a latecomer to the party! There was obviously so much time and effort put into your review! I have had a couple of days sick at home, and found your review when someone commented on it on the Celebrity boards. So it has helped me feel better and fill in time. I am so glad you wrote it and I loved your photos!

I am a big planner as well, and my husband was only just laughing at me and my folder full of Alaska information the other night! I am planning our Alaska adventure for next year, and almost have it fully booked! We only just got back from 3 weeks in Africa, and our Alaska adventure was well under way even while I was planning Africa! I have read so many Alaskan travel guides, websites, and of course cruise critic and trip advisor are invaluable sources of information.

We will be sailing on Radiance for Christmas this year, to the South Pacific out of Sydney, and your photos make me feel like I already know the ship!

I hope you have fun on your Med trip, that was our first ever cruise! We lived in Europe for 3 years, and I knew nothing about cruising. We went on our first cruise 'blind', I had not discovered cruise critic before we left. I actually think it made the cruise even more magical, everything was a brand new discovery and every day was a surprise. We did book all of our excursions through the ship that time!

Anyway, thanks again and have fun on your next cruise! Yvette

  10. We are sailing on Radiance of the Seas out of Sydney to the South Pacific for Christmas and - after reading so many glowing reports - will have our first aft balcony cabin! We only had Rhapsody sailing down here for a few years, but now we are spoilt for choice with Radiance and Voyager doing the Australian Summer cruise season. Really looking forward to exploring Radiance.

  11. I just came across your review early this evening, and now it is nearly midnight and I have just finished reading! I have oohed and aahed at all of your wonderful wildlife and landscape photos, and stopped to read parts and show photos to my husband Bill.

We are doing a B2B Alaska cruise next year, plus 10 days of our own explorations in Alaska beforehand, and your review has made me more excited than I already was!! I got some great tips and ideas on what to expect. So thank you for the huge amount of time and effort you obviously put into your review. I have already done a lot of research for our Alaskan trip already, and have booked a few excursions. I am so excited to see bears!! I can't wait!

Bill has to keep reminding me not to get so far ahead of myself and enjoy this year's vacation first - we are off to Africa in 4 weeks time!

Thanks for the photos of Radiance as well - we are sailing her for Christmas this year, she looks like a beautiful ship.

Thank you again for a very entertaining evening!

  12. This happened to us as well after our our first and second cruises - it was weird, as we had never heard of it before! We did not get seasick during the cruise, but back on land we were very wobbly and felt like we were still at sea. It goes away after a few days, and in our experience it never happened again after our 2nd cruise. Hope you feel better soon!

  13. Hi:).....I think that is a misknowmer.....AQ is for only 2 people per

cabin but I do not think it is "no children". If a parent and child

are cruising together and they are the only 2 in the cabin I believe

they are definitely allowed to book a cabin in Aqua Class.

I could be wrong of course...but I have never heard "kids are not

    allowed".

Lois, you are right. The Aqua Class rooms are only 2 people per cabin, but if children are in an Aqua Class cabin, they can eat in Blu. There were some children eating in Blu on our last cruise.

We also loved Blu, and would look at an Aqua Class cabin again just for that. I loved the tableside muesli at breakfast. The meals were all delicious and beautifully presented, and the staff were very friendly and attentive.

  14. I can tell you like RCL at Christmas :-) Hope it's a good one!

We just love Christmas on a cruise ship! Celebrity or RCI are our choice. I would have liked to go on Solstice this Christmas, but it is one way to NZ, so you have to fly back home, and the longer itinerary did not suit us as well as the 9 day. It would be nice to have 2 Celebrity cruise ships here for choice and different itineraries, but they have a lot less ships than RCI. Hope you have some fun ones planned as well!
