  1. Holiday was my family's first Carnival cruise in 1992.  My kids were 8 & 10, the maitre'd came to the table & cut up our youngest son's food for us. No S&S card & had the plastic keys with holes in it. Completely different cruise experience. Sailed the Celebration 3 times over the years. They are antique now but filled with great memories.

  2. Toss of a coin between the Legend and the Pride.

I'm leaning towards the Legend due to memories! We went on a Cruise to Nowhere out of New York in October 2004 for my parents 50th anniversary. So glad we went as my dad passed away 2 months later.

I love the Spirit class ships. I've never sailed the Spirit. But have been on the Miracle once, the Legend twice & the Pride three times. The balconies are 4 foot deep instead of 31/2 foot deep. Also they are not as packed with cruisers.

  3. Lister, often has been quoted to say " those you can't read words in their proper context, usually express anger as a show of immaturity"

I Don't believe OP read your response without bias. I see nothing wrong or "snarky" in your post.

    Love the quote.

  4. Is it worth racing to this level?

No need to race. Sail & enjoy. We were only gold for two cruises when they started the current VIFP program. Platinum just happened us. If you enjoy Carnival it'll happen to you. Being Platinum is no reason to cruise. Cruise to Live.

  5. I agree with the two previous posters. The western. Cozumel was my boys favorite place to snorkel when they were around that age. To the south on the western coast there is a beach that has all sort of "relics" under the water. They enjoyed themselves swimming around there.

  6. Your post got me thinking about our Spirit-class cruises - we've been on seven, Legend (2), Miracle (2) and Pride (3). All except one Legend (Baltic) and one Miracle (Alaska) were East Coast sailings to the Eastern Caribbean or Bermuda. On all of the East Coast sailings we experienced vibration/motion issues when we were off Cape Hatteras. The vibration is particularly noticeable aft in the dining room. Our most recent experience was three weeks ago on Pride. We had an aft cabin and the only day I noticed vibration was the last, returning to Baltimore Heavy seas and strong winds, they ended up closing the sports deck. We went to brunch in the dining room and the vibration/movement was so bad that I saw a server almost lose her balance and spill her tray on a passenger.

On the Baltic and Alaska cruises, however, I don't think we experienced motion issues. I wonder whether it's an East Coast issue.

I believe you are correct. I've been on the Miracle & Pride both out of Baltimore & have experienced this when sailing off the Carolinas. I've sailed the Legend out of Tampa & had no issues with her. That said the Spirit Class are still my favorite ships. Kind of the Goldilocks of the Carnival Fleet.

  7. The local news just reported that Carnival MAY plan to pull out of Mobile after the Fantasy December contract expires. We're booked on the Fantasy in April/May. What happens to our cruise if Carnival pulls out of Mobile before we sail?

We had a repositioning cruise cancelled out of Tampa 3 years ago. Carnival kept the price we booked the same & we got to pick a cruise at the same time of year. Our balconies were upgraded to the max in cat 8. We ended up with ledo deck balconies 4 in a row. So we sailed on the Freedom for 8 days instead of the Pride for 7. Hope it works out well for you if its cancelled.

  8. Don't forget the little gift!

I don't know that it would even necessarily need to be tied to being a certain status, but when it says to "Check back often for offers" and there aren't any, then it kind of gets to be disappointing. I would like to see a reduced deposit special that's not tied to ES. And it could be for anyone. Or bring back the Future Cruise Certificate.

I'm with you on bringing back the Cruise Certificate. Booking on board is a PIA. Also they won't give you extra OBC cards for booking more than one room on the same cruise. I booked three cabins last time & got none for friends & family back home.
