  1. Last October we had the itinerary reversed due to Hurricane Matthew. We left Galveston on Sunday and weren't told until Monday that our itinerary was being changed. Sometimes they can't or don't make the decision until last minute. Every situation is different so you really can't have a backup plan. Other than to just go with the flow.

  2. October last year we were on the Breeze out of Galveston. This was when Hurricane Matthew was roaring thru the Caribbean. We left Galveston on Sunday with our itinerary intact. On Monday morning they announced our itinerary was being reversed due to the storm. The decision to adjust the itinerary is usually last minute due to the unpredictable nature of hurricanes.

  3. We took the plunge. DH bought 100 shares of Carnival stock this week. We are waiting for paperwork now for proof of stock ownership. DH called Crnival, they were very helpful. He was given a fax # to fax the info to, and told to wait 15-20 mins to give the fax time to actually go thru, then call a number he was given. They will take care of it over the phone. Don't know why we didn't do this sooner, we have been cruising with Carnival for 22 years.

A great big THANKS to everyone for the answers. We should have an extra $100 to spend (how many drinks will that buy..) for our cruise in September

  4. If you can find apple juice in small cans (12 oz or less) you can carry on the apple juice. Sounds like there are 6 people in your group, each person could bring 12 cans. (and no, each person does not have to "carry" the cans themselves. If you all check in together one or two people could actually "have the cans in their possession" as long as you don't have more than 12 cans per person.

  5. I am hoping someone that owns Carnival stock can answer this question. I know you can get credits for owning Carnival stock. Is that on board credit or can that be applied to the cost of the cruise? Is there a minimum number of shares that you have to have to get credits? DH and I were discussing it and want to look into buying Carnival stock. We were wondering how this works. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  6. The ones in the cabin are not very good. If you have long hair or thick hair it will most likely be useless. You do have to hold the button down and after a while it will shut off so it doesn't overheat. I tried to use it once and it took so long that it shut off and wouldn't start again until it cooled down. I had my own hair dryer with me, just thought I would try the one in the cabin. Never again!!!

  7. We pre-pay gratuities always, just consider it part of the cost of the cruise. This time we have booked all of our excursions already, but we don't always do that. We do it for budgeting purposes. That is what works for us. Might not work for everyone but to each his own.

  8. Last fall I cruised with my sisters and niece in a balcony cabin. We had the 4th bed that came down from the ceiling. It was kept down during the day and the couch stayed made up as a bed. My understanding is that the keep it that way unless you request differently. Quite honestly it wasn't a problem at all, even with 4 women in the cabin.

  9. One thing to consider if you are flying to the port and live in one of the handful of states whose DL do not qualify as a valid gov't photo ID (I live in Missouri, ours is one of those states). Unless you have another gov't issued photo ID you won't get thru security at the airport with a DL. Just a thought.

  10. I agree that the Breeze is one AWESOME ship!!! I was on her last fall with my sisters and our niece. The crew was outstanding. I too found out towards the end of our cruise that our aunt had passed away. My DH contacted Carnival on Friday. The guest services people were unbelievable. They found us in the dining room and called there. I went to guest services who let me call my DH on their phone, even dialed the number for me. They were very sympathetic, called us the next morning to see how we were doing. Offered us priority debarkation even. They took very good care of us. Anyone going on the Breeze will not be disappointed.

  11. We did a couples cruise with 2 of my sisters and their husbands. We did not link our bookings and had anytime dining. The first night we went to dinner together, told them we wanted to be seated together, they took our cabin numbers and that was it. Every evening after that when we went to dinner they would ask if we needed table for 6. Some evenings we didn't eat together and it was no problem at all. They actually linked us that first night.

  12. I was on the Breeze in October last year in a spa balcony cabin. The Breeze is a wonderful ship, the crew was friendly and very efficient. All the things others have already said. We were on deck 11 (me, my sisters and our niece-4 women) and we found a back entrance into the spa. When you go in the back door the shower is immediately to the right. We used the shower in the spa every evening. That shower is much larger than the one in the cabin and your wife might enjoy using it some. They provide towels also.

  13. If you are planning to do any excursions I would strongly suggest you take snacks for him. Sometimes you may go quite a long time without eating and you don't want his blood sugar to drop. There are plenty of individually packaged diabetic snacks on the market today. And drink plenty of water. I know teenagers don't think too much of drinking water but it will help keep his blood sugar more steady. It would be too easy for him to grab a soda when you are out.

And just an FYI, one cruise we did a snorkeling excursion. When I got back on the boat I saw a young lady putting an insulin pump back on. She had taken it off to snorkel and put it back on when she was done.
