  1. I also just ordered a speaker for my Iphone that uses blue tooth to have some music by pool and on balcony... can't wait.

Just be respectful of the people on the cruise with you that don't want to listen to music all the time. Many of us like quiet times on a cruise.

A better solution would be to use Bluetooth headphones so only you hear the music.

  2. Whenever I've been to a glacier stop on a cloudy day the standard announcement is that "you are so lucky, the overcast sky really brings out the blue in the glacier ice"

Makes me laugh every time I hear it, there is nothing to compare being there on a spectacular sunny clear day and seeing the full view in all its glory. (blue ice and all)

I've been very lucky and most of my visits have had views like this, that is what keeps me coming back year after year.

DougH, I notice that you have been cruising to Alaska many times in May and June. How has the weather/sky been on those cruises. We will be doing the southbound cruise on the Island Princess late May/early June next year, and hope for good photo conditions.

JimmyVWine, your photos and commentary are wonderful. Thanks so much for posting them.

  3. I bought mine through Socttrade for $7.or $7.95:) no other fees or maintenance fees, they even hold the stock AND at one point CCL & RCL stopped paying dividends,I didn't know they resumed:o, lol so I have over $500 in the cash account which I will now do something with. Good investment, even just to sit there. What I do think is a bummer is only getting 1 cruise credit per cruise no matter how long it is. 1 day to however many days=1 credit.

Your Captain's Circle status is based on one of two things: 1) number of cruises, or 2) number of nights at sea. We hit the 150 night level (Elite status) after 10 cruises, instead of after 15 cruises. We like the longer cruises :)

  4. You can still sometimes find the 3-in-one sheets in stores; some have found them in Walmart, though I couldn't. I did find some at Walgreens and bought a couple of boxes. With the half box I already have, that should last me for all the rest of the cruises I'll ever take, since I only use them for cruises.

They are also online, Amazon and other places, but I expect this will eventually end too.

These laundry sheets are very popular with campers and RVers. We get ours from Camping World, but I'd guess most camping supply stores would have them. They don't have the "Purex" name, but they work just fine.

  5. Thought I'd follow up with my experience. I BOUGHT the stock and faxed the request last Friday. Since we fly out in 3 days, I called them this morning to follow up. They could not have been nicer or given any better customer service than I received. I was told it is no problem doing this with less than 14 days, they just wanted to make sure I was taken care of and a happy customer/stockholder. They even questioned if my husband had military service so they could give us another $250 more in OBC (unfortunately he is not).

Thank you everyone for their input on this. I am so happy that I went ahead and purchased stock to get the OBC on our upcoming voyage. Guess the 14 day advance is not a rule, just a guideline. Wish I would have done this years ago!

That's great news, and nice to see that Princess can handle issues quickly. :)

  6. How quickly can you get the credit after you purchase the stock (we use online trades)? I had no idea they do $250 for 14 night cruises. We sail in 8 days and wonder if we bought stock today if it would be credited in time.

"The application must be made at least 14 days before your cruise departure date"

    Sorry :(

  7. You can still find sites that sell them thru Amazon.com but yes Purex doesn't make them anymore...(I do buy them thru Amazon.......they have many sites that still carry them....I only use them for vacations/cruises.)

Places like Camping World also carry this type of laundry sheets - not Purex, but they work the same.

  8. I have loved following along on this great photo review. We did 30 days on the Ruby in '09 for a Med cruise followed by a TA to FFL. Loved the Ruby.

Might I ask you to come back to this thread when you begin posting your next cruise review? Then those of us following/subscribed to this thread will be alerted that you are back online with another great review. :)

  9. More (and even more than that) pictures to come, if not tonight then tomorrow.

Glad you are enjoying them. Some sailaway pictures at dusk coming up.

Then St Thomas-submarine excursion plus tramway ride and panoramic scenery. Some unbelievable tropical gardens and who knows what else.

    Lots of Ruby shots!

Bimmer (Norris), thanks so much for this thread. We haven't got a Royal cruise booked yet, but hope to in the next year or so. I'm loving your pictures and commentary.
