  1. Just there last week. Water was blue and clear and no water shoes are needed. You need to reserve a lounge chair in advance. It is a small beach, but not overcrowded. I recommend.

  2. Just got back from Calico Jacks and we paid $20 for two loungers, no umbrella (we didn't want one).

Chairs were bad, really bad and awful. But we did enjoy our time there once it quieted down.

  3. Was this the Key West-Costa Maya-Cozumel-Grand Cayman itinerary? My husband and I will be on the 12/15 sailing and can't wait! It's his first cruise and my second (first one was 16 years ago so basically I'm a newbie as well). How was embarkation? We're still debating what time we should get to MIA airport the day of sailing. What'd you do in Key West?

Yes, it was this itinerary. We have been to Key West many times and love it there. We just walked around town and then watched March Madness in one of our favorite watering holes.

  4. Embarkation was simple. We were on the ship by 11:15 Cabins were ready by 1:00. First sea day was a complete disappointment with regard to locating available loungers. I did not see pool butlers trying to help out. We were not "hounded" by staff to purchase or upgrade our liquor packages. I did get approached a few times to take advantage of the spa, but I didn't purchase anything. We don't have children so I can't comment on activities for children. We did not meet OZ.

  5. Thanks so much C-leg. That makes sense now. So is it correct to say that when I read the names of the beaches, it is really the names of the restaurants. In other words, Blue Kay Beach is the beach in front of Blue Kay bar or restaurant. Does every single bar/restaurant have a beach to call their own?

  6. I am confused - you say beach bars were packed, and then you say beach bars were not busy. Can you please explain. And can someone please explain -- what is "malecon"?

  7. Let me just preface this by saying that we thoroughly enjoyed our trip, but I will say that it was not too obvious to me what was done in dry dock. We were in a concierge cabin on deck 8. Our shower was missing tiles and the shower head was terrible. Flushing of the toilet was a problem every now and then. The balcony was dirty and had dried paint all over it. I definitely saw new carpets as well as worn carpets. I did not notice any rust.

Uh-0h, I'm in a concierge cabin on deck 8 in a couple of weeks. Can I ask what cabin number you were in?

I believe 8134. but please know that everything was bearable and we enjoyed our trip. I saw a new shower head being installed in another cabin towards the end of the cruise so I guess I should have asked for a new one, but at that point I guess I just got used to it.

  8. How did the ship look and function, in general? I've heard some negatives about rust, worn carpets, general shabbiness, that I hope were fixed in its recent dry dock.

How was the food, especially the main dining room and the buffet?

I thought the food was fine. The only negative I can report about the MDR was the salads were a little soggy a few nights. I guess another negative is that the food was never very hot. Could they have a better selection on the menu - sure, but there was always something on there that I liked. I thought the food at the buffet was fabulous. The lines at the "made to order" stations moved very slowly, but that is to be expected. I also found the set up at the buffer very odd.

  9. Welcome back! We are looking to sail the Summit next year. I did send you an email for the dailies. Thank you for your time!

shepherdqueen - I lost track of who I sent these to. Did you receive them from me? also, so many of them I send out get returned and being labeled as spam I guess.

  10. I just sent you an email requesting copies of the daily newsletters. If for some reason you don't get it let me know here...thanks again for your time with this.

I received your request and attempted to send them to you but the emails were not able to be delivered. Do you have a different email?

  11. Terri27 asked me to send her the dailies via email which I attempted to do but the emails came back to me with an undeliverable message. The problem is not on my end because I sent them to about 4 others with no problems. so terri if you are out there do you have a better email address?

  12. we took the water taxi last week. There is definitely a one way option for $5 and an all day option for $7. No wait to purchase the wrist band and no wait at all to get on the water taxi going either way. Last year we did the walk and it is very easy to do.
