  1. My DH did have the option for GF pizza as well - we had to give 24 hours notice and where we wanted to eat - i.e. dining room for lunch, etc. He enjoyed the GF a lot. The burger place on the pool deck accommodated him - burgers without buns, and the fries are GF as no other food is fried in the fryer and the clean it out and replace oil nightly.

  2. We have done the BVE on the Caribbean for the past 2 years in Brooklyn. We have sailed on the CB five times, and definitely didn't need the tour, but we did it for fun of it. It was an awesome day out, drinks on deck, beautiful NYC skyline views and a warm up for our future cruise. This past year, the cost was indeed applied to our booking for our upcoming cruise. I a, hoping we can do it again in 2014.

  3. I am on a pump now, so I can do it discreetly. When I was on shots, I took it right at the table - discreetly. The bathroom is a dirty place and I would never inject there. I do wait until the meal is IN FRONT OF ME as I have been burned pre-blousing in restaurant settings and having delayed meals causing lows.

FYI - I don't ever leave my unopened insulin in the cabin fridge anymore - froze once - they thermostats on the cabin fridges are notoriously bad. I now take my extra unopened insulin tot he medical center and they will gladly hold it for you in their temp controlled fridge which is also on the emergency generator if needed.

  4. We had no trouble bringing on a case of water. We just slapped a luggage tag on it with our cabin number and it was delivered. A small cooler without alcohol shouldn't be an issue.

  5. We booked a BZ and ended up with E611 on the March 9th sailing. I've tried to move based on similar comments but with no luck. If were going before you I can certainly post pictures if that helps.

We are sailing 3/2 and our TA called this afternoon as a Princess rep called and wanted to move us to that cabin (E611) from E310 (which is between lifeboats). We declined. Another passenger wanted to move due to walking issues. We really wanted to help, but we want to enjoy what little balcony we will have with E310 (which is in between and will have davits, rather than the lifeboat right on front of us as in the deck plans). We use our balcony a lot. We initially booked a BZ - and those cabins are unobstructed - go figure. Sometimes the "upgrade" isn't so Up.

  6. Was the all inclusive alcohol and beverage package being offered?

Do you know how long the Beatlemaniacs are remaining on board for? We loved them. Saw them in 2008 on the Caribbean Princess. We are sailing on the Royal in a week and a half and hope to catch them then too.

  7. My TA called yesterday and was told it wasn't available on the Royal yet, despite what we are hearing on CC boards. So, the 1-800 folks haven't been privy to the info yet I guess. I am crossing our fingers it will be available on the Royal in 12 days when we sail. Definitely one less thing to worry about. Will be worth it for us between soda, cocktails, bottled water etc.

  8. The beverage package may not be offered yet on the Royal. It is being introduced, as a test, on the Star, Sapphire and possibly the Emerald.

Trying to get someone to concretely answer this but on another thread someone said one in their travelling party was offered the package he believed a week ago.

  9. While I don't have a pacemaker, I have seen them hand search/use a wand on those who couldn't go through the magnetometer (metal detector). No issues that I have ever seen with it.

I do sail with an insulin pump, syringes, etc. Never had an issue with Princess security getting off and back on the ship.

What sailing? We will be on the March 2nd sailing of the Royal. :)

  10. We got off on 2-9. One of the couples we were traveling with were discussing whether or not to add it on day one. This was based on their discussion with bar staff so it was offered. They decided against it though. It was something like $55 per day? I was not interested so I didn't pay close attention.

Thanks for the info. I've been waiting to see if it will be available for our 3/2 sailing and it sounds like it is. :) For us I think it will be worth it. I figured if we drink about 7 drinks a day each - and we will (we have in the past) spread out (poolside, dinner, theatre, club, etc), it will pay for itself. And it will also include bottled water which will be great on port days and other drinks.

  11. We will be taking our first international cruise while on Medicare. I know we need additional health insurance, as our medicare supplement will only cover emergency care outside the US. Can anyone recommend a company for this type of health insurance. I'm not referring to evacuation insurance (although we need that also). I'm referring to health insurance.

    Thank you.

We get the Luxe plan through CSA for the duration of our trip. . Covers per existing conditions. Also covers trip cancellation, delays etc.
