  1. Thanks for the review and pictures! I'm glad to see the old menus are still in place and I can enjoy my favorite Carnival dishes on my next cruise. 26 days until I sail the Splendor! :D

Oh yaaay - does that mean we can expect to see one of your reviews!! I will so look forward to that!! Would you be able to find out for me what the cost is to use the Thalassotheraphy pool and Thermal Suite will be for the week or for a day? I would really appreciate that!!

  2. I'm confused. First I thought this poster was involved. Now I'm thinking not.

Is someone just drawing a line that an incident happened in an area where this poster is part of the police force? Or is he involved in some manner?

The OP was writing this about another CC member who goes by MikeyA53. Both he and his wife Tracy are RCMP officers. There were stationed in New Brunswick but I believe are moving or have moved to Ottawa. The OP was just writing condolences to Mike and Tracy as they probably know the officers that were killed and plus maybe even Mike and/or Tracy are involved if they are still in New Brunswick??

It is just a very sad situation!

You may have come across some of their reviews - usually B2B cruises and very informative, interesting reviews.

  3. FTR, I ended up booking 2217 on Splendor for the Bermuda cruise. I had considered it for repo in November. Had wanted 7345 but discovered that, unlike the Conquest class ships, it did NOT have two beds but was truly an upper/lower and since I have someone joining me, we took a regular inside.

But the Bermuda cruise is SO expensive (in my opinion, at least), I went with 2217. Depending on whether or not I end up solo, I may move to an inside 1A. I truly prefer to have no light coming in windows. And since I had problems with waves slamming against the hull on Glory, I may just go with a midship 1A if no one joins me.

Hey NCTribeFan - I am considering the Bermuda cruise and see that all the PT's are gone. I will probably get a 1A porthole if they are still available when I book. If you do cancel 2217 - can you let me know ajekamps@live.ca - I would rather get a regular PT room than the 1A. Thanks!!

  4. How did you find the Dreams link. I have been searching and everyone says that they no longer offer day passes. I will be going in May.

When I read this, I tried to get on the Dreams webpage but kept getting an error. I tried again today and it was fine so it must have just been down for a while. I don't see the day pass advertised on their website any more?? but I'm not sure that means they aren't offering it. I used the e-mail address the RNRSC gave below and dealt with someone named Louise. We are booked to go there on April 1st. We just had to register with her, we didn't have to pay anything upfront. I sent her an e-mail a few days ago asking her to confirm. I rec'd an e-mail back today saying that yes, everything is in place. I'm thinking their internet must have been down because like RNRSC said below, they usually are very prompt in answering.. She also said that taxis are very easy to come by and are readily available at the Port.

This was our contact there. econcierge.drelr@dreamsresorts.com They replied within twenty-four hours.
  5. I'm also curious about the prices. When talking to one of the tour operators in Bayahibe Village, I was quoted $60 round trip per taxi (1-5 passengers) 6 passengers would be $65. The drop off point is in the village, which is just beside Dreams. I was wondering if that is an accurate price, or if negotiating on my own would be better.

Hopefully someone has been to Dreams lately.

What is the current price of a Dreams day pass?

The Dream day pass is $60 for all inclusive.

Not much action on info about taxis??

  6. We will be going to the Dreams Resort for the day when we dock there on the Breeze in March and have been hearing some stories about the taxi situation. How hard is it to get a taxi, are they reliable and any idea of the cost - The lady at Dreams said it was about a $20-30 taxi ride. I want to discuss the price before I get in a taxi and make sure we know the price up front. Any idea as to what the cost might be? I've read where people share a taxi and their portion was $25? does that mean that the $20-30 amount is per person??

    Any info will be appreciated!

    Thanks!!

  7. Why don't you call carnival and ask them? I'm sure it's just as easy to do that as it is to call me a liar.

Hey BooPoo, I apologize. I guess I was more or less calling you a liar (although I didn't mean it that harshly)and that was not fair. I think I was having a few sour grapes because everybody seems to be getting these free cruises. I'm on a roll call where about 10 people have now joined saying they are sailing because they got a free cruise. Then to hear of a 23 days cruise for basically free just seems unbelievable. Plus the fact of it being one of your first posts just made me think "troll" I understand now that these repositioning cruises especially to Australia are hard to fill. Not everyone can get away for 3 weeks and then to having to fly back can be pretty expensive. So, that is probably why they are happy to fill the ship by awarding free cruises. Again, I do apologize and hope that you have a fantastic time!!

  8. I call shenanigans on the OP:rolleyes:

I agree!! Highly possible to get 3 letters but no way can they use one of them on a 23 day cruise!!! As other posters have indicated, the free crusies are on selected cruises not any cruise.

What make a person want to spread a story like that???

  9. Hey Kim, I'm in my jammies on the couch with a terrible cold reading your entire review. It really took my mind off how crappy I feel and a chance to live vicariously through you!! I will be doing a B2B on the Breeze in March and can't wait. I was on the 2-day inaugural but that was just a little tease!!

Thanks for the review and I hope things work out with G!! Keep us posted :D

Question: which setting on your camera do you use to get those b&w pics with touches of colour. I really like that effect!!

  10. okay, after reading much of this thread, I am just as confused as when I started. I am looking at booking the Fantasy for December. the porthole is listed as an inside cabin. I cant figure out how to tell if it is listed as PT or 1A or whatever. so, here is the question; want to book a porthole on the main deck (ex M18) are these cabins only single beds ( bed and couch) or 2 single beds that can be pushed together.

Also, on the booking site, the cabins actually look like they are different sizes (some are short and wide and others long and narrow). is this the case?

    thanks

If it is labeled PT, then it is a porthole category and will have 2 beds. It looks like the Fantasy portholes are all PT and there are no 1A portholes. If you look at the Liberty or a Conquest ship you will see that the front cabins on the Riviera and Main are labeled 1A'sand they will either have a bed and an upper bunk or a bed and a sofa bed. You can't really go by the deck plan diagrams they can be deceiving. I would say that they are all relatively the same size with the possibility of the ones closer to the back of the ship may be a little longer. I would probably pick one as close to the back as possible. That may the noise of the waves, etc. may be a little less too.

  11. I'm sorry if this question has been answered already, i just can't find it, if it has. When you book a cabana on the web, you are asked to book "a color". I understand the higher numbers are at the end of the beach, but how do you know what # goes with the color. I watched the video and have a few but want to know color of #13 and 11. HELP!

According to this post, Cabana 11 is Grey

Which cruiseline is this with? With Carnival you just book a cabin and once on Board you can pick the actual one you want - unless something has recently changed?

  14. I already have my Cabana booked for April, 2013 with Carnival and the cost is $199.95.

I wonder if Holland America gives you more with the Cabana and that is why the cost is higher???
I believe with Carnival we get soft drinks and water - a fruit plate and some salsa and chips.
  15. Annette we were on the Carnival Valor in September as soon as we boarded the ship and they stuck our card in that machine a sound went off. The crew member informed us to go to Guest services to choose our cabana. If you have your heart set on specific cabana I would encourage you to board the ship as early as possible so you can be one of the first ones to choose your cabana number. We were in group 22 to board the ship so by the time we got to guest services at least half the cabanas had been picked already. I hope this helps :)

Thanks Yvonne!! Which cabana did you get and were you happy with it?
