Joy Casino offered playing cards and dice for sale.

I will be walking on as you walk off next Sunday. I may try to get to Q if I can't get a Cagney's reservation. I haven't seen (or noticed) used cards for sale before.

When I first went to Las Vegas the casinos would give away the used cards, as well as cigarettes and cigars. But that was years ago. The cruise lines aren't the only ones nickel and diming there customers.😬

The Birds have a long history with Choir of Man on NCL. The Birds were in the Supper Club on the Norwegian Escape as the first Choir of Man set was being built. A small rolling bar and piano. As the show became one of the most popular across all NCL ships, the show was moved and installed in the main Escape Theater.

My first Choir of Man was extra cost with beer included. The second was in the main theater free and they gave free beer😄. Where was this held? Any charge for beer? Both on the Escape.

That is the prevailing opinion on this board. When we were on the Jade last month, I warned Mrs. Schmoopie and our traveling companion not to order it. I said, "You'll be sorry".

As usual, Mrs. Schmoopie didn't listen to me. Imagine my surprise when their steaks arrived and they both raved about them. I thought this had to be an early April Fools joke. So I tried a bite, and they weren't kidding. Absolutely fantastic, and cooked perfectly. The next night I decided to go out on a limb and order one for myself. Again...perfection. Maybe the Jade is an anomaly when it comes to MDR strip steaks. But it was as good as the Cagney's filet we had earlier in the cruise.

I have had MDR steaks from good to poor sometimes on the same cruise. Maybe the luck of the draw of the chef determines the meal.

Not sure if anyone mentioned taking Greyhound to Penn Station.  We have done this several times from the Cherry Hill area and it's reasonably priced and the taxi fare to port is also inexpensive.

Are you sure Penn Station not the PA Bus Terminal (42nd St & Eighth Ave). Also is the Cherry Hill station the one at RT73 and the Turnpike? Parking Fees?

We've also done the train to taxi or Uber many times for NYC cruises.   Quite easy.   We ask to get dropped off at 12th & 48th-ish (where the light is) instead of bothering to go up to the turnaround at 55th.  Cross 12th ave at the light.

    -----------------------------

For pickups back to wherever you need to go, even private rides we have pick us up outside the terminal on 12th Avenue or a corner spot.   I prefer to be out of the chaos once a ship is unloading thousands of peeps.

    Great Advice!

When debarking, make sure you take a NYC TAXI not a Gypsie ride. They come up to you when you cross 12th Ave. I was quoted $50 to Penn Station. Taxi fare about $15 plus tip.

Nice to see you back @JamieLogical!

The Prima seems to be the only ship currently with the "same" menu in the MDR, but it seems that they are otherwise heading that direction.

That sounds like  RCCL on the Anthem of the Sea when it started. Four MRDs with the same menu. They went back to the rotating menu system after a year or 2.

BTW Jamie see you in October.😀

  6. HI

I am on the same cruise.

Its been 8 years since I been on Carnival. I have taken others lines out of NY. I will take a train to Penn Station and depending upon time and weather

    1) Walk ( about an hour, I am a slow walker😬)

    2) Take a taxi ($13-15 Plus tip)

    3) Take the M20 on 8 TH to 49th ST and M50 on 49th ST to 12th AVE. The ship will be 1 street south or 2 streets north of bus stop depending on the pier being used. The M50 bus stop is west of 8TH toward 9 TH.

    See you on board.

We are going on a cruise out of Miami on the 5th, returning on the 14th. Thinking of continuing on another cruise line on the 14th. Is it just a matter of walking down the port to the new ship? Any foreseeable problems?

I did that in 2019, but from FT Lauderdale and Miami.

Once you walk off the first cruise you are on your own and can go to the second ship.

My only suggestion in these days of Covid, use the internet to check on the second cruise to be sure there are no surprises when you get to the second cruise.

There’s also Chops +1 which gives you a dinner at Chops Steakhouse plus an additional restaurant. We also enjoy the main dining room so this was just enough for us.

I was on 3 Anthem cruises and booked on a fourth. The Chops+1 was offered only on one.

If offered I will get it. if not maybe a 5 night package.

  9. In the letter cancelling my April 2021 cruise there was this paragraph:

    · A $150 discount + Lower Deposit! If you purchase a $150 CruiseFirst certificate, which is a certificate towards your next cruise, we
will match it with an additional $150 discount. For CruiseFirst terms and conditions, please visit https://www.ncl.com/terms/cruisefirst.

    My emphasis.

This is the first time I remember seeing this term. All the Cruisenext certificates were $250.

Is this something new or did I just missed it before?

A curiosity is that you get a different menu depending on the ship you are booked on. Notice anything different between the menus from the Encore and Joy below?

The second one looks like the one from the Escape. What are the dates of the menus. It is given in the fine print at the bottom.

    The Escape is dated 8/12/19.

Too bad the Tomahawk is extra. I would use 2 of my SDP's just for that.😁

Interesting to see the changes once the ships sail.🙄

Escape headed to the Philippines means all 3,800 get a free trip through the Panama Canal, gonna cost NCL a few bucks.

I was told the Escape, Breakaway and Getaway can NOT go through the Panama Canal because the life boats hang outboard of the ship making it too wide even for the new locks.

The Bliss has its life boats inboard. It is most noticeable in the Local (the new O'Sheehan ) A smaller dining area.

  12. HI

I am joining you on this one.😁

On the Getaway TA last year there was a bus run by the local Transit. Cost a few Euros. The ticket was also good on all the local transit systems.

Only problem it was Sunday  and Everything was closed outside of the tourist store at the docks.

We have a cruise booked for the end of December out of NY and I’m starting to wonder if I should cancel and make alternate plans. I know at this point the best anybody could do is guess but with Carnival canceling all 2020 cruises out of NY do you think Norwegian will follow suit? I’m eyeing a similar cruise with Royal out of Baltimore in November. We have a cruise with them booked in 2021 also so if they cancel I’d at least have use for the FCC.

IMHO the reason CCL cancelled out of NY is they were running only one ship the Sunrise. The last scheduled cruise was a repro on Oct 19. It probably was not worth the effort to get to NY for the few cruises left in the year.

Ncl has more ships out of NY scheduled. I may book something in November IF NCL starts sailing again.
