  1. We've only stayed (or been in) deck 10 owner's suites. However, from youtube videos and cruisedeckplans, it looks like deck 9 owner's suites do not have a dining room alcove, the bedroom & bathroom are smaller, and there's not a "porthole" window in the bathroom.

I could see from our front balcony and during our bridge tour that the deck 9 front balconies are definitely larger and offer a little more privacy than deck 10, which is just below all the front-facing windows in the bridge. Can't really tell about the side balcony.

  2. I spent months trying to figure out what to do in Martinique and read many "stay on the ship" type responses. I'm so glad I didn't pay attention. We had one of our best days in Martinique and met many very nice people despite a few language barriers.

We took the ferry to Point du Bout. We rented lounge chairs at a nice beach resort and shopped and dined in the small village area that reminded me of a village in France.

The guides in the port were very helpful in directing us to where we wanted to go. We met a couple of local artisans at the booths set up by the dock. The tourist booth showed us maps with options for multiple different tours which cost 30 Euro's per hour (per guide, not per person). They said the average tour was about 3 hours.

It cost us a total of $10 US dollars which were accepted at many establishments to take the ferry round-trip and $20 US dollars to rent a lounge chair at the resort. With the rental, we had access to the bathrooms and outdoor showers.

It was a great day! All it takes is a little planning and adventure to have a great day in Martinique.

Were you able to rent an umbrella too or just lounge chairs? We love the beach but need shade.

  3. You can hand the bottle to your server when you get to your table. There are wine-chill holders scatter around the dining room for just that purpose.

We always pre-chill the bottle in our cabin refrigerator so the wine coolers just have to keep it cool until we drink it.

If you don't finish the wine bottle during dinner, you can ask your waiter to save it for next time. He/she will put your name on the bottle and then you can get the bottle from your server at any of the ship's dining rooms. Apparently all passenger bottles are stored in the same area.

  4. No, we have gone to Fort James Beach, 6$ pp for a taxi ride maybe 8 to 10 min. Nice quiet beach with the ruins of Fort James at one end and a small bar etc at the other to rent chairs. Nice and sandy way out. Great beach to just hang out in the water, not great snorkeling due to very little coral.

Could you rent an umbrella for shade?

  5. I checked your cruise website, it is wonderful,
    Thanks.

we are sailing the Pearl in Dec., do you have any idea how far the place to catch the ferry to Peter Island is from where the ship is docked, it seems to go from Baughers Bay which is apart from the ferry that leaves from Road Town, I guess it is run by the Peter Island Resort rather than the regular ferry people, I have tried to figure it out with mapquest and google earth with no luck, a taxi is about 10. one way but just wondering if it can be walked to.
No, I've never taken the ferry. You might trying posting your question in cruise critic's Ports of Call section for Tortola.

Thanks again for the informative website, very helpful, I hope it's ok that I sneak over to it every once in awhile even though I am not on the same cruise you are
Of course you're always welcome. And please send me links if you find something that I don't have that you think others would like. A link to my email is at the bottom of the home page.
  6. Hi everyone we just booked an 11 day Southern Caribbean on the Pearl and Im excited about the ports! I would love to hear all about the Pearl and anyone who has done this cruise?

Sorry to miss you! We just changed from your cruise to the next one leaving April 6. We preferred the itinerary ports.

I've started my cruise website with Pearl and port information: Caribbean. It's from a bunch os sources combined into one website and still under construction. The webpage links are across the top.

    Hope this helps.

  7. Hi, Thinking of heading to Cabo area for a few days to get out of this cold and soak up some sun and heat. Is there an all inclusive hotel or two that you could recommend.

    Thank you!!

If you haven't already, check Trip Advisor. Traveller reviews of the hotels and also forums to ask questions.

  8. You'll love it!! We've been in Owners Suites before and they're fantastic.

We're in Jewel Owners Suite 10004 for our next cruise. It's basically the same as your deck 9 OS -- our deck 10 suite is a little larger than yours but our front balcony is smaller.

Here's a link to my website about our cabin: Suite. It includes information & photos about Jewel Owners Suites and The Haven.

You can also search YouTube, using "NCL owners suite". Check out any of the deck 9 (9000s) owners suites since they are all basically the same, just different decor. At least on the Jewel, Gem, Pearl, Dawn, & Star they are. Some good some bad of the OS and The Haven.

    Enjoy your cruise!

  9. I just emailed them also and will be in PV on Tuesday Feb 11. If I don't hear back I will just walk over and see if I can get in. I will report back after I return from my cruise. I have been trying forever to find their number or website so guess will just have to see what happens.I have had massages here quite a few times and always been very pleased.

Did you go to the Krystal Resort last month? Did you get a massage?

  10. I want to start by saying I've never been on a cruise, so there's a lot I'm trying to wrap my head around. . . We plan to get on late - only a couple of hours before we are scheduled to leave port . . .

Not a question you asked, but be VERY CAREFUL you're too late to check in.

Your cruise papers will state the cutoff time that you MUST be CHECKED IN for your cruise. Being at the terminal or in the terminal or standing in line for security or the check in line DOES NOT count.

The cruise line is required BY LAW to cutoff checking in passengers at the specified time -- NO EXCEPTIONS. I think it's 2 hours before but not sure so be sure you verify New Orleans departure.
