Perhaps you are confusing Alaska with expedition cruising? The latter don’t have formal nights.

No. My question was clear and the answer was emphatic. No formal nights on your cruise in Alaska.  BTW when do they show up, we sail in a week and no nights are yet flagged.

Did it give you your day by day time schedule chart of 'events' for the cruise?

Yep. Excursions first, start time and duration, then resraurants, including and waitlisted.

We will be on the Muse for a week from Seward to Vancouver starting June 6 so very interested in first hand tips from current passengers ... Do you know who's the captain ?

We're on the return. boarding in vancouver pn the 13th.  between Covid, a cancelled itin and personal heath reasons, this is our 5th try.  if this goes south i'm declaring a not meant to be.

  7. the first thing is that On Board Credit is exactly that. it must be used on board.  i have successfully used it for excursions.  however if you have status theyre cheaper beforehand.  but if you gave credit burning a hole in your pocket...  ive had good luck with booking on board.  they seem to have lots of cancellations.

So, I noticed the Star Legend no longer has any booking options past Oct. 6th of 2025.  Looking at the other 2 yachts they show cruises till April of 2026.  Is Windstar selling the Legend?   Your thoughts?

i think selling is not on issue .  They've just invested millions in the triplets and their looking good and they need the capacity.

We did a market tour with the chef in Kotor, it was outstanding. We tasted and learned about cheeses, meats, honey, breads, I mentioned that one one honey  I have  ever tasted in my life, the chef bought about 12 bottles for breakfast, he later told me they lasted 3 days. It was fun. Happy Sailing

In our experience the market excursions are rare, but wonderful.  they weren't well advertised, ask at reception.

  10. The interview is just standing in line. From experience, take copies, you need them. In the end, the process was easier than for India by a long shot.

FULL Windsor, too, not one of those lopsided subvariants!

I just called Silversea, for another matter, and while I was on the phone asked about Alaska they confirmed that there is no formal night.

For the Nova, Ray and Expedition ships ties are not required. For the classic ships they are only required on formal nights in Atlantide/ MDR, Salt/ Indochine and La Dame.

Jackets not required on Expedition ships and reported as optional on Nova and on Ray when it starts.

On the classic fleet required in all restaurants except the Grill and pizza restaurant. La Dame virtually always a jacket required and usually in Atlantide. The other restaurants it depends on the Maître d. Though I have rarely seen it enforced in the other restaurants. And some times Atlantide has a Maître d who doesn’t enforce the dress code.

And that is what makes it complicated.

Vacation isn’t meant to be complicated! It will all become clear and we’ll go with the flow.

Having read the whole thread, I’d just like to know what we’ll see on the Muse in Alaska this summer, and how we find out. I have no problem dealing with reality, but have no idea what that means.

I guess what I’m looking for is a chart. The muse has these restaurants. And on various nights formal/informal/casual the vatt try ious restaurants are?? I know the grill is alway casual, as is pizza, others??

On the Muse last year, they insisted on a tie to get into Atlantide ....

I hate ties at the best of times, so the next day decided that any ugly tie would do ..... so cut up the cover of evening magazine, used the wrapper from the nightly chocolate, and a disposable napkin and made one ....

Used it for the rest of the cruise with no argument at an venue..... other than my dearest wife who thought it looked ridiculous !
