  1. I've been looking at information and pictures people have posted on liquor menus and prices for NCL and I have not seen any brandies. Do they not carry any brandy on NCL ships? Not a big deal for me as I also enjoy whiskey, wine and other liquors as well but I do also enjoy brandy 7s and it looks like that may not be an option on NCL. Just curious to know.

  2. We will be sailing soon on an 11-day cruise on the Jade. Being we will be gone that long I assume at some point we will need to wash some clothes. Does anyone know if there is a laundry room on this ship and how much we can expect to pay to wash and dry a load of clothes? If no laundry how much do they charge to wash some clothes for you? Thanks for any information you can provide. Getting so excited for this trip. Flying out of Minneapolis on Super Bowl Sunday (hopefully will be watching my Vikings winning Super Bowl from Miami hotel!) for Panama canal cruise leaving on Monday. It's getting so close!!!

  3. We will be sailing on the Jade in a few weeks and I am wondering how the casino works on NCL. We have previously sailed Carnival and on their ships you play via your sign and sail card (not cash) and there is no fee to do this. On NCL website I have seen this:

    Cashless Wagering

allows you to charge gaming to your onboard account directly from the slot machine or table games with your stateroom key card or at the Casino Cashier. Convenience fees may apply. Transactions are subject to a daily and cruise limit.

Does anyone know how much the convenience fee is? Also if you get cash from the casino cashier do they charge a fee for that or can you avoid the extra fees that way? Thanks for any information you have to offer.

  4. We are leaving Minnesota on Super Bowl Sunday. Hopefully we won't run into delays with the big game in town. We are leaving that day for a cruise leaving on Monday. Living in MinneSNOWta we always leave a day early in the winter months. Hopefully we will be watching the Vikings playing at US Bank Stadium in Minnesota from our hotel room in Miami that night. :D

  5. Cool Cruiser my husband and I may be on your same cruise. We are going to be on the Jade Panama Canal cruise leaving Miami on Superbowl Sunday. Thanks everyone for the responses to the excursion question. We had thought for sure we were staying on the ship but now are thinking we need to check out the excursion that would take us through the canal to the Pacific. Any further advice on this would be appreciated.

  6. I will be cruising on Jade in February and wondering about its specialty restaurants. We get 4 specialty meals. We have already booked Cagney's for Valentine's Day and the Teppanyaki one for another night. Looking for some advice on what would be good choices for the other 2 nights and what people think of the specialty restaurants in general. Thanks.

  7. We will be sailing on the Jade (Panama Canal cruise) the beginning of February. We have previously sailed mainly with Carnival and have really enjoyed the pizza and ice cream you can get 24-hours a day. We are night owls by nature and are curious as to if there is anything like this on the Jade and if we will be able to find anything to eat late at night. It is not uncommon for us to still be up at 1 or 2 a.m. Thanks for any information people can provide on this.

  8. The problems we had with Carnival were related to a completely messed up group booking. The cruise itself was fine, but booking was so messed up we didn't want to do that again with them, especially as we have another group. The cruise was have booked is a partial canal transit. I am very much looking forward to trying a new cruise line. I know they do things different with freestyle dining and probably lots of other things as well. The drink package and dinning package are being included in our price. My big question with freestyle dining is how easy is it to get in to eat at the restaurants. Are we going to have to make reservations way in advance to get in places. It's hard to know always in advance when and where you might want to eat on any given night. Thanks for information on this and anything else you think would be important to know about differences between sailing Carnival vs Norwegian.

  9. Has using TAs changed over the years. The last time I went through a TA was a long, long time ago (probably over 20 years ago) and then you paid such a large fee/premium to go through them that you pretty much cancelled out any perk that went with booking anything that way. We have done things on our own for a very long time and have never had any problems at all until this Carnival fiasco.

  10. We have done Disney and Carnival cruises before, but we just booked our first cruise on NCL. We are going to do an 11-day Panama canal cruise in February of 2018 on the Jade. Can anyone tell me anything about the Jade, Panama canal cruises (never done Panama canal before), and in general how NCL is different from Carnival. We recently did a cruise on Carnival Magic and ended up unhappy with some things surrounding that cruise, hence we are trying a different cruise line this time. I am so excited for this cruise, but have a long time to wait for it. :D

  11. We recently went on a 7 day cruise on the Carnival Magic the end of January/beginning of February. The cruise itself was great, and I have no absolutely no complaints there. However, we had booked as a group. We had over 30 people and around 14 to 15 cabins as a group. My husband is the one who was talking to Carnival and organizing this cruise as a group. We were supposed to get money back as on-board credit, which we planned to share with all the cabins. The person my husband had been taking to (Russ) assured us this would happen and even had hinted at a get together/party on the ship (party was never promised, so I won't dwell on that). My husband had tried for several weeks to get ahold of Russ and get everything straightened out and finalized, as there was continually misinformation about our group. He was not able to get return phone calls or e-mails from Russ. When we got on board and my husband inquired about our group and the on-board credit we were supposed to get, it turned out that everything was still messed up. I give credit to the people on board for trying to help get this straightened out and have no problem with the people on the ship itself, but in the long run my husband spent several hours of his vacation that he paid for trying to get this all straight and causing him a lot of stress in the meantime. It never got straightened out. In fact, if you can believe this, on the last day of the cruise he received a message stating to please advise him we were not part of our group. We arranged it, but somehow we were not a part of it. So, he has spent several weeks since we got home still trying to get this figured out. We did finally get a check sent to us, but now we have to get all the money out to all the people of our group, instead of a simple on-board credit like what should have happened.

We have cruised Carnival several times in the past, but because of their complete incompetence in their offices and support people, we are extremely hesitant to give them another try. We have, in fact, just started organizing another group with a lot of the same people who cruised with us last time. This is for an 11-day Panama Canal cruise and we are booking through NCL. Carnival would have likely gotten this money and business if they hadn't messed up so completely. My advice to is if you are dealing with Carnival with a group booking, be very careful, document and save everything, and if your contact is Russ, find another contact ASAP.

  12. I believe we are on the same cruise. Mine leaves 2 weeks from tomorrow! :)

I believe you are correct. We sail January 28...two weeks from today. :) Can't get here soon enough, especially after the freezing weather we've had in Minnesota the last couple of days. You know it's been cold when you go out when it is 20 degrees and that feels warm enough that you don't even need a jacket. ;):D

  13. Getting very excited for cruise (only two weeks away). I have a few questions regarding the comedy club:

    1. What are the show times?

    2. How far before show starts would you recommend getting there?

    3. Also how good are the comedians? We have gone to the comedy club in the past on Carnival, but it has been a while.

    Thanks.

  14. We are going to be on the Magic the end of this month and have the late dinner time. We have a large group and could not get the early time. I am wondering about our ability to go to shows with this late dinner time. We love the comedy club, piano bar, and nightly shows in the show room. We are night owls so very late show times after dinner would work best. My parents are early birds so for them shows before dinner would be best.

Can't wait for this vacation. Where I live we are dealing with -4 degrees for actual temperature right now with wind chill -17. Brrr. I need sun, sand, sea, and warm ASAP. ;):D

  15. We are cruising at end of this month and was wondering if anyone knows where our muster station may be. Hoping for an inside location where we can sit and not outside standing. We are on the 7th deck in the front of the ship. Getting so exited. We are from Minnesota so cruising end of January/beginning of February is awesome...sun, sand, warmth, umbrella drinks. :)

  16. We just booked a cruise on Carnival Magic in cabin 7203, which is an obstructed view cabin on the Empress Deck. I was just wondering if anyone has stayed in this cabin or one similar and any reviews they would have on it. I am particularly interested in how much traffic the public deck outside gets and if privacy and/or noise may become and issue. Thanks for any info you can offer.
