  1. So apparently you can't get seats on Air Canada right away?

My question is, WHEN can I pick seats, and how do I do it?

Will it suddenly be "clickable" in my air reservation section?

Do I have to keep calling Princess to see when it's available?

Can I call Air Canada directly?

What has been your timeline for getting seats?

Cruise starts August 12th, but we are flying August 9th.

    Thank you!!!

Regarding Medallion Net discount for Platinum/Elite:

I'm Platinum and will be cruising this weekend.  A week ago, I saw the price for Medallion Net was half price (~$70).  2 days ago when I decided to purchase, it's at full price (~$140).  Since I'm sailing this weekend I decided to just purchase it and deal with it later.

Today I called Princess to ask them about the Platinum discount and why I didn't get it.  They said you have to pay full price and the 50% discount is offered as OBC once you get on board.

I checked the Captain's Circle's benefit and here's info regarding Medallion Net discount.  Check point #8 on page 2

    https://www.princess.com/downloads/pdf/cc/captains-circle-loyalty-benefits.pdf

Confused cruiser here.  I'm Platinum, my husband is Ruby.  We haven't cruised since 2010, so all this Medallion stuff is new to us.  We have a Mediterranean cruise coming up in August 2023.

Explain to me like I'm a child.

I would like to get the Wi-fi package, but don't care about the drink package.  As Platinum, can I get them separately?

How do I go about ordering it and receiving the 50% discount?  Will I see a discount upon ordering, or will it discount later .. like upon boarding perhaps?  Will it be in the form of a refund, or OBC?

Assuming we have to get the wi-fi/drinks as a combo package, will the discount be JUST for the wi-fi portion?  Will it just be discounted for ME, since hubby is Ruby?  Can I be the ONLY one to purchase the package, or does it have to be both of us?

TIA.  Things were so much simpler on all our other cruises!!  Especially when you've reached "a certain age".  🤪

I don't know where the cruise line buses drop off but the public bus, Interbus, leaves you an easy 1 km/six-tenths of a mile from the greek theatre.  The bus depot is located at Terminal Interbus Taormina, Via Luigi Pirandello, 98039 Taormina ME, Italy.

The start of the bus line is at Piazza della Repubblica in Messina, 750 meters/one half mile on foot from the cruise port.

The direct bus takes 50 minutes and costs euro 4,30.

Excellent info .. thank you so much!

We booked a van with Sicily Taxi Service for 6 of us to go from the Port to Taormina and return.  They were fair in pricing.  We didn't want a "tour"  since this will be our 2nd visit.  We just wanted the ride into Taormina.  They were quick to respond and let me set my times for pick up and return.

How much was it, may I ask?

Please permit me just a very minor timing quibble.
The new flight booking window opens 330 days out rather than 12 months.
Apart from that little bit of nitpicking, @billco’s advice is spot on.

I knew exactly what he meant.  🙂

That's what I was going to say.  Have done it more than once - just to get an idea of what to expect.

Yes, not sure why I never thought of that!

I got a really good estimate for how much it will be.  Tried 2 different dates, and they were almost $200 pp different, but it still gives me a ballpark.

  7. I can't get our air yet, as we are still 12 months out.

I'm trying to figure out how much this dream trip will cost us, so I'm asking for your help.  😇

So, anyone from the West Coast of the U.S.  ...  what have you paid (through EZair) to fly to Athens?  How about back home from Barcelona?

    Please and thank you!

I happen to think the water bottle package is a great deal - 12 bottles for $7.08. It's a 500 ml bottle. I can't drink the water on the ship, either. It upsets my digestive system. I'm Elite, so I swap out my mini fridge for 20 bottles and depending on the length of the cruise, I buy 1 or more packages of water. I go through 3 or 4 bottles of water a day.

I drink about that much too!  I think I'll order 3 x 12.  It's only a 7-day, but that way my husband can have some.  He prefers carbonated water, but will drink flat if he's thirsty enough and not near a fizzy water!

  9. Sorry .. this has no doubt been discussed before.

We are thinking about purchasing the bottled water package.  Yes, I know, I know ..  it's expensive for what you get!  But I am a huge water drinker, and don't care for the taste of the ship's tap water.

You get, I believe 12 bottles delivered to your cabin.  My question is, how big are the bottles?  At home, I buy 16.9 oz (half liter) bottles, but I suspect the bottles in this package are probably 8 oz.  Does anyone know for sure?

Also, I want to get a 6 pack of soda cans to enjoy at the end of the day.  I started the ordering process, but haven’t paid yet.  I don't see where you choose what kind of soda.  Has anyone done this?  When do I choose what I want?

  10. Seems I read that as a past passenger (Platinum), I can get paid for referrals, correct?  Haven't cruised with Princess since 2010.

Does it still work if the party has already booked, or would they need to declare me as their referrer at time of booking?

    How much is the reward?

Is it applied to MY booking?  (We're traveling together)

Is there a limit on how many?  There are currently 3 bookings in our party beside mine, with possibly 1 or 2 more.

  11. I am looking into Taormina as well.  It would be from Messina.

It could be on our own, as you have mentioned,  but could be on a 4 1/2 hour ship's excursion.

If we go the excursion route, it allows us 2 1/2 in town.  We want to see the ancient theater, and looking at google maps, it appears to be across a main hwy from where the buses drop you.

My question is, is 2 1/2 hours enough time to walk to the ancient theater, see it, and get back?  Would we have time left for the city area nearest where the bus drops us?

Yes, book your flight first to make sure you can book something that departs after 1:30.

Don't book a transfer. The excursion will drop you off at the airport. The language about passengers who purchased a transfer is for people who already bought transfers and then decide to do a debarkation tour. The ShoreEx desk onboard will give them a credit for what they paid for the transfer so they're not paying twice for the transfer (once for the transfer and again in the price of the debarkation excursion).

Excellent explanation.  Thank you so much!  I think I'm pretty clear on it now!!

As I said, things were different 12 years ago, and I have OCD and over-planning tendencies!
