  1. But at the port in St Lucia how will they know if anyone on the ship has been in a country where yellow fever is endemic? Any passenger could for example be from Brazil or been in Brazil prior to boarding the cruise? We are due to be in St Lucia on 4th November. I am from the UK and will only be flying to Miami prior to our cruise. I really don't want to have to have a yellow fever shot.

An Internet connection is necessary to watch  a downloaded movie or tv show so that Netflix (or whichever service you are using) can monitor that your subscription still allows viewing of that content.

In this case the advantage to pre-viewing downloading would be that viewing would be seamless, in spite of real-time Internet speed.

Interesting I have watched Netflix films/series on planes downloaded to my Ipad when I have most certainly not had internet.

  3. We are on an Oceania cruise in November ending in Miami. Our flight home to London is at 11pm. I searched the internet for a day hotel room on this site https://www.dayuse.co.uk/

So I booked, will pick up a car at the port, go to hotel drop our luggage then go shopping (Malls in the USA so much better than London) then we can sit round the pool a bit and we can have a shower and change before dropping the car at MIA before the long flight home.

Unfortunately our PH1 is under Waves and at around 4pm and 9-10pm it's quite loud with the thuds and booms of chairs being moved and dropped! If you want no noise then avoid this location.

Am I correct that since the refit the PH's don't have a bath any more just a large walk in shower?

  5. Thank you very much for making me feel like I was with you the whole way. I really appreciate your updates.

A quick question - what was the cost for your sea days at the sanctuary? I was under the impression that you had to pay for the whole time.

    thank you

I got off the Diamond last week after 11 days, we used the Sanctuary for the 3 sea days in the cruise it was $40 per day per person or $20 for a half day. If you wanted to book every day for the cruise it was $30 per day.

  6. I run my own company's payroll and for my upcoming cruise I will run it and pay my staff 5 days early. If there are any adjustments to be made for those 5 days I will make the adjustments in the following month. Can you not do this? It will save the chance of any problems and ensures that at least most people will get their correct salary and it is unlikely any adjustments will be more than minor and the staff can wait for this.

  7. Tracie Lynn, thanks for this ongoing review of your trip. I am following it with interest as we are on the Diamond on 28th February and then having a couple of days in Singapore after.

Travelling from the UK the flight is approx 14 hours and we are used to 11 hour flights to LA or Vegas so not too bad, but we have never been to the far east before and wanted a change after always going in the other direction.

So a lot of clues from you for Singapore and about the ship will all be read with great interest although I think most of your stops are different to ours.

This is the first I have read about an unlimited Internet option being available.

And you indicate it was just for one device. Usually a package is not restricted to one device and can be used on multiple devices, but only on one at a time.

Yes I have never seen or heard of it on a cruise before but for me that suits me down to the ground, my close family and friends I have contacted via Facebook messanger and we are all chatting whenever we like via that medium. I have had to forgo my phone but the iPad will do everything I need except a text on a cruise.

I am from the UK as it happens my daughter is in Vegas this week and my son and family are going to Dubai so I can keep in touch and we can FaceTime eachother, I can of course also get into my office computer and deal with any issues whenever I need to or want to.

To reconfirm for this 10 day cruise on the Royal unlimited internet on ONE device only is $249. On top of this the Internet signal so far has been superb - on my balcony now typing this as we have just left St Thomas on route for Antigua and the cruise is great so far.

  9. We got on the ship about 3pm it took about 45mins to an hour from arriving our bags were already outside our cabin.

  10. Once out we quickly caught a taxi van that held 10. It was about a 5 minute ride to the beach. Today we are at Lobsters Alive. Two wonderful beach chairs, a great umbrella, and three free drinks. Taxi was $5 each and the chairs and umbrella were $15. They also have free wifi that we can get from our beach chairs!!! If you've been to Barbados before and have been to the BoatYard, Lobster Alive is right next door. Much less crowded and less noisy!!! Was inside a minute ago and saw the lobster tank. Could NOT believe the size of the lobsters. Never in my life have I seen a lobster that huge!!!!

Thank you for this we are on the same cruise on 27th February, the wife and myself love lobster so I looked at their website and have filled in their reservation form.

Looking forward to a delicious lobster lunch.
