I know this is slightly off topic, but I think worth mentioning.  If you have time in Seward I highly recommend a Kenai Peninsula day cruise.  When we did our Alaska cruise we went on the George Inlet, Mendenhall Glacier & Whale Quest, and Sitka Sea Otter cruise.  By the time we got to Seward we were day-cruised out but we had already booked the Kenai cruise so we went on it.  All I can say is WOW!

Thank you!  We are actually looking for something to do in Seward.  I did not see those options on the Regent website, but maybe I didn't look in the right place.

  2. Thank you Wendy.  Here are the initial ones we think we might choose from:

    Juneau

    Gold Creek Salmon Bake

    Whale Watching & Wildlife Quest

    Mendenhall Glacier and Whale Quest

    Skagway

Chilkoot Trail Hike and Float Adventure

Gold Panning, Sled Dog and 40 below

Icy Strait (not a lot interested us on the included ones, we may look at the others)

    Wilderness Hike

    Any opinions are GREATLY appreciated!

  3. Hi everyone -- hoping someone can point me in the right direction.  We are taking our first Regent cruise (Alaska in July) and I am trying to find some reviews of the various included excursions.  We typically book separate excursions and I read a lot of online reviews prior to booking.  However, this time we want to take advantage of the included excursions and I am not very successful at finding any reviews for them to help us make our selection.  I've done a search, but might not be using the right search words, as not much comes up.  Appreciate any help!  THANK YOU!

  4. I've never done the Thermal Suite on Carnival before.  I realize that the Sunshine does not have the thalassotherapy pool, but seriously considering purchasing the pass any way.  For those who have been on the Sunshine and used the thermal suite, did you find that there was a wait for loungers?  I would love to spend time there in the mornings and then also unwinding before I get ready for dinner, but not sure how crowded they will be?  Thank you in advance for your suggestions!

  5. Our last cruise we were waitlisted for YTD.  We didn't get off the waitlist before boarding, so we went to Maitre D as soon as we were on ship.  He said he would let us know, but to have dinner at our confirmed time (late seating) until we heard back from him.  We heard back the following day that we were confirmed for YTD, so we only had the first night without it.

We are also waitlisted for YTD for our upcoming cruise on Sunshine.  Hoping to get confirmation prior to boarding this time.

  6. Can anyone that has been on AmaKristina please confirm what power is on the ship? Do I need a convertor for iPhone wall chargers? Are you also able to confirm there actually was hair dryers. The site says there are and that everything is 220V so think I don't need to bring a hair dryer and think I must bring a convertor for our wall chargers but would love to confirm that with someone having been on the ship. Thanks everyone.

There is usb connection (Apple Mac is used for TV), so I just charged my cell phone there. You do need adapter for power outlet next to bed. Hair dryer in the bathroom worked just fine for me. Sometimes you had to click the "cool" button (not hold it) to get hot air, but most of time you did not.

  7. Thanks for the reply. My son has sadly developed some inner ear issues and gets dizzy some days so what I am really wondering are there ever nights that you aren't sailing while you are sleeping? Did you find your room had a lot of movement? We are in rooms 320 and 322. Thanks for your help.

We were in room 312. There is no motion at all. It is nothing like an ocean cruise. Most of the time the only way you knew you were moving was to look out the window!

  8. We are doing Amsterdam to Basel on July 23/18 on AmaKristina. Does anyone that has sailed the Rhine before know if you are typically sailing overnight or are you ever docked while you sleep? Unlike ocean cruising there is so much so see while cruising I just wondered if you always cruised while you were sleeping or that was sometimes just during the day so you can see the scenery.

    Thanks everyone.

We just came back from the Amsterdam to Basel on the AmaKristina. You will love it! You will have plenty of time sailing during daytime to view the scenery. Some days we sailed in the mornings (in addition to over night) and did excursions in the afternoon, one day we had excursion in the morning and then sailed right after lunch. You'll have the opportunity to go through locks during daylight as well -- that was very interesting!

  9. Has anyone who has cruised recently taken part in the Sip and Sail? If so could you share some details? Was this before dinner? Thanks!!

We were on the AmaKristina a week ago. The Sip and Sail is the cocktail hour immediately before dinner. Beer, wine, various liqours (but not all) are included. It was a nice way to relax before going to dinner.

  10. We are on AMAKristina in May for Rhine River cruise. Our first river cruise after many ocean cruises. Looking forward to new experiences and smaller vessel. We selected our excursions today, but am happy that we can change once we attend the overview on the first night. If anyone has any MUST SEE excursions on the Rhine River cruise, I am certainly interested in your opinion!

We are only coming in 1 day early and trying to hit the highlights of Amsterdam before boarding the following day. At the end taking train from Basel to Stuttgart to visit the the Mercedes Museum which is a bucket list item for hubby. Thanks everyone for all of your postings!

  11. I know you think I am crazy but I am planning my morning trek to the coffee shop. Never been on Ecstasy, so trying to figure out where it is. Is the Rolls Royce Cafe the coffee shop? That's the only thing I see on the deck plans that might fit. Thanks in advance for your help!

  12. We were on the first cruise on the Dream out of New Orleans also. We loved it! We were on the ship by 11:30. The crew were ALL very friendly. The food was wonderful. We ate in the dining room every night and thought it was some of the best cruise food we have had. And yes, we have cruised other cruise lines as well as Carnival. Debark was a breeze - they called for self - assist at about 7 and we were in the truck headed for home by 7:30. A great cruise for us!

  13. Thanks usmuk....we ended up booking the wrap 6461 and putting grandparents in 6459 (L shaped balcony next door). My PVP told me that the balconies will open up between these 2 rooms. I'm a little nervous about noise from below, but the wraps on this deck were the only ones that accommodated 3 people. I'm excited, though. Really looking forward to that long balcony!

  14. Thanks! Good suggestion about getting them out of the sun. We love the AFT cabins, and have never had a wrap before, so want to take advantage of that, but would like GP to be able to enjoy our large balcony at their leisure as well.

We had AFT balcony on RC Radiance to Alaska last summer and it was amazing. Just got off the Conquest AFT balcony and, you are right, it did get a little hot, but was wonderful when the sun wasn't boring down.

    Thanks again for the help!
