I just disembarked the Explorer today. I don't know if they had Starlink but I will say that the internet was the worst of any Royal ship that I had been on. My previous cruise was on the Radiance and that was even better. We had constant dropouts in our stateroom. We like to use WhatsApp for calls and never had an issue before. It was dropping and reconnecting every 15 to 20 seconds. It seemed to better on the top open air decks. But it was bad in the dining room and lounges throughout the ship.

This is new carpeting based on the other pictures from previous Cruises. So this is what I mean about disinformation lol. It appears everything has been replaced when it comes to carpeting and thinking maybe curtains as well? Previous posts in FB reported this, but this forum was the complete opposite. So just not sure why such conflicting information 🤷🏻♂️
I can safely say the curtains that I'm looking at now have not been replaced. Unless stains and holes are a new Royal design. I was unsure about the carpet that's why posted the pic. Nothing else in my room has been replaced. And most venues that I have been in so far haven't replaced. But I will start asking crew when I remember.

All that time spent in dry dock and they can't spend a bit of money replacing worn out curtains!
I agree. I don't want to seem like I'm just complaining. We are having a good time. But some of the things are glaring issues given they just came from a 1 month dry dock. I mentioned the holes in the curtains. Drawers that don't quite close. Shelves missing in the medicine cabinet. Nothing that would be a major issue but I keep thinking to myself, dry dock. Did they even inspect the room?
My biggest issue that we are Diamond and have been on a few ships. This is the worst internet we have experienced on a Royal ship. Not just slow but sometimes not working at all. I thought every ship was upgraded to Starlink?

We went to the top tier event today and the captain talked about the dry dock. He said the only visible changes other than cleaning were the water slides, mini golf, and the basketball court. I didn't pay much attention but I guess they are all new. He said everything else was mechanical and behind the scenes.

Yeah, that’s not the same type of light. I’ll see if I can find it again.
update: here’s a picture of the light. They are in a Spacious Ocean View balcony, cat 4B on deck 8. But others on the ship are saying they don’t have them either. I even saw another picture of a completely different light. Nothing seems standard - Did RC go to value village to to get their lights? 😜
We are in the same type of room on deck 7 (either 3B or 4B). It's very strange that they would update some of the rooms in the same category. I could understand if it was just suites.

Could you please confirm that they did not remove Explorer's forward-facing fitness center and locker rooms like they did on Navigator?
I didn't go in but I believe it's still there. I do plan on going this week so I'll report on the machines.

Love if someone on can take a few pics and post. Would love to see the new slides.
I will try tomorrow.
Just set sail. 4 hours late. Reason given was resupply after dry dock.

Are you sure it’s new or just more modern looking? I have a hard time believing they replaced the carpet since they did it in 2014 yet Mariner and the Freedom class ships still have original nasty carpet from 2003-2007 after more extensive refurbishments.I'm really not sure. If it's not new it's very clean for my experience on ships. But I was wrong about the curtains. They were just modern looking. On closer inspection there were holes in them.

I know someone asked earlier. There are no new USB plugs by the beds. Other than the carpet and the drapes everything else in the room looks untouched.

Sounds like a waste of drydock time. Who cares about slides... give us more places to eat!
I agree. As of 4PM the slides are still closed. I wonder if they will open this cruise.
It looks like there are new digital controls in the elevators and signage in the hallways. This is my first time on Explorer so I'm not sure but they look new.

On right now. Haven't found any new restaurants yet. New carpet in staterooms but haven't done much exploring yet.

We got the phone call yesterday and made the switch from Harmony to Explorer. New cabin is spacious oceanview on deck 8. Docs have already been reissued and the app has been updated with the new cruise. Only issue right now is the OBC is not correct - way too much. Put a call in to see if we can get that clarified.
Welcome aboard. I was wondering did you have any planner items booked and did they transfer? I'm curious if they make you rebook everything? It would suck if say you had a Cabana booked on Perfect day at a good price.

Probably saving cabins for the switchover of people going to your ship.
Probably right. Which means they knew about this for some time.

what happens if enough people dont get bumped.
I believe the offer becomes mandatory once they take in all the accepted offers. So, a few people will have to switch. But, I think they usually get enough takers. The mandatory offer might be a sweeter deal than what is offered now.

I'm on the Explorer Mar 12th cruise so it looks like we will have a few more people. It's interesting because I thought the Explorer was full since the sailing has been off the website for a while.
I would take the offer since it fits in the same timeframe, but I sail enough and I'm not bringing small kids. But if this was my once in a couple of years spring break sailing, I would probably pass.

Been on sea trials. Still showing Gibraltar on Ais
Does anyone know why a port in Gibraltar would be needed? Maybe it's a routine stop for supplies? Just curious. Don't follow too many Dry Docks.

I'm on March 12th sailing. I hope this is routine.

Voyager of the Seas/ Craps table?
in Royal Caribbean International
Posted
Hello. Can anyone verify if the Craps table is in operation on Voyager? Looking to book but I got blindsided before on the Radiance with no craps table. I don't want to repeat. All videos I can find are at least a couple of months old.
